With Polaris involved so heavily in the lore of previous games, its permit lock may well be FD's way of drawing a line under them and meaning such previous game lore does not apply to FD (I think they've said as much in livestreams)....therefore the permit may be permanent and the system may never be accessible.

As for Lyta Crane and the "disused starport orbiting the eighth moon", I keep pointing out the codex phrase that people are ignoring "rival experts have accused Crane of forging her evidence in order to maintain the revenue from her billions of followers"...i.e. she's a troll!

The only lore to Elite Dangerous and the previous games is First Encounters. That's considered still accurate. Elite Dangerous is the Sequal to that game. They have Explained Anything before The two games was retconned. There is still an incentive to explore and gather data around the region as allot of it is incomplete. What was discovered and explored Is data from 2014/2015/2017/2020. There's some first footfall data but not allot of it so who knows what all has been missed around there.

MMmm, don't remember that, but its a long time since I last visited her. Is this from an EDO on-foot engineering screen?
However there is no "that time I visited R---" in that utterance, which is what I was questioning.

yes it's on-foot , inside at her base/station/desk

well, i was paraphrasing but if you listen/hear it closely ( and i've replayed it myself around 100 times lol ) then it's VERY very subtle and almost sounds---or seems---like she's about to say "found R...axxla" .
imho, it's a deliberate tease from the Fdevelopers/coders.

Maybe she was going to say "Reyedog's Secret Base" :D

"rival experts" is like "some say", though. That being said, I agree, and partly why I don't believe in this 8th moon thing. IMO the conspiracy part about that statement is not the part about how this used to be a disused starport around 8th moon, it's the part where it's still there around. For that there is absolutely no evidence and that's basically right on the same level as claims from "Ancient Aliens" tv show.

Comparably: Do Egyptian pyramids exist? Emphatically yes, you can visit them. Were they built by aliens? No... why would you say that? Are those aliens still around in those pyramids? What are you talking about...didn't we just establish they were not built by aliens?

So that whole codex entry is to me a conversation on about same level. Was there some old station in some random place used by a group that called themselves "Dark Wheel"? Quite plausibly yes. Is any of this still around, particularly in the same shape? Now that's a conspiracy theory.

Did you see the recent theory that the great pyramid was built with the large gallery that was actually used as a ramp to haul the upper story stones up..darned cunning those Ancient Egyptians!
Of course the aliens probably helped out with the other pyramids! 😁

Speaking of "pyramids" ...
... Is that ^ thread anything worth investigating?

I guess someone is learning that 3D projection of a circle can be a triangle. And on a serious note, no - this is "normal" - basically consequence of having orbit lines and looking at them from a specific PoV.

It happens allot with planets that have elongated orbits or wide ones. Orrery view would help notice that. Now if it showed up as a triangle in that mode that would be very interesting.

Thanks for bringing my post :)

I am a returning Commander after I had a brake for about 5-6 Years of Elite. Before I stopped playing I always heavily invested my time in mysterious stuff within Elite. Those Guardian Sites and Thargoid Stuff that came up more and more. Also everything around Raxxla sparked my interest a lot. So I am kinda "sensitive" when something which I then posted today, happened. I am glad that it is considered "normal", I would have probably freaked out, I believe I never came across such a orbit so far or as I can remember. I also forgot about the orrery view, I just started last week or two weeks ago with Elite again.

As I am making my way around Deep Space mainly for Exploration I keep my eyes and ears open if I spot something..."unusual" and document it with screenshots and even clips.

Hey congrats on the return. And the only wrong questions and answers are the ones that are not asked. We love sharing info. It is what makes this community strong. Space is strange but exciting.

Thanks a lot Commander. One very strong point about ED was always the Community apart from everything else. You don't see many games which such a good and helpful community these days.
I always had that adventure sense, watching the goonies or flight of the navigator (which Soundtrack I am currently listening too while flying through deep space on my Exploration Journey). I took part in all those Guardian Sites back in the days, gathering heaps of info and went out searching myself. Ultimately I landed with Raxxla and the Mystery behind all this. Unfortunately it is also what broke my neck with ED and why I stopped playing. Alone seeing this massive Galaxy ahead of us (From Sol towards Sag.A) with those countless stars and possible directions, I surrendered.

I also had a ship with a pretty "bad" jump range compared to now. Getting everything engineered and ready was very time consuming while gathering info about possible Raxxla spots.

I mean if I look at things how they were and how they remain unchanged right now, we have the guardians and the thargoids and somewhere is Raxxla, what it is and what it may look like remains unknown. As long as FDEV don't want to give us any more hints (like they said in the past) it all remains in the dark "wheel".
What I remember tho was if FDEV added the Thargoids behind us (Standpoint SOL looking towards Sag.A) and the Guardians to our right with their Sites on planets, it would make sense to add something about Raxxla to our left. Cause everything in front is vast and dense and may never be discovered.

Cause towards our rear (Barnards Loop), left or right we reach the end much faster (Due to less and less populated Stars) then going forward to a highly densely populated system of Stars. Or it could be under or above Sol as we (humans) tend to normally travel in a rather straight line (Ship based Traveling in ED) based on Travel Charts rather then Zig Zag Style, hope it kinda makes sense. I mean Polaris is already to our "left" if I remember correctly.

I dunno, I am just brainstorming my thoughts and possibilities.

Once I return back to the Bubble from my Exploration Journey, I will give Raxxla another go based on my previous plans as I did bookmarks (Before I stopped playing ED) which I even sometimes named as a possible Hint. Something did lead me to a Nebula on the Far right of the System tho.

Happy Hunting.

no problem and thank YOU for sharing your findings , because honestly who knows which tiny little supposedly "obvious" ( or insignificant ) thing amidst the universe might end up leading us to Raxxla 👾

btw everyone, quick question & update:
  • question: Relating to this old thread--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...the-the-dark-wheel-which-system-is-it.477422/ ... Do we know for certain exactly which type of STAR shown in background image from Codex actually is defined? Is it a 'T Tauri' type star?
  • update: After many many weeks of desperately searching & trying to "do" things ( aka basically just playing the game ) that might prompt another ostensibly random 'Mysterious Stranger' TIP-OFF mission to target me & my ship ( re: ingame mail trigger ) , i have finally gotten another MS tip-off mission tonite !! This is only my 5th tip-off mail in a year of being "casual" yet devoted player. --- *Yes i realize most people believe these tip-offs ( most ignore them ) are nothing important and just some cheap coded method by which to encourage pilots to explore generic POI's or whatever , but i dunno.... Perhaps , with RNG + certain parameters-to-unlock, these tip-offs just might lead someday to a particular POI with a data-clue about Raxxla ( or Dark Wheel ) . ☄️

From the quoted thread above, two pictures that 90% confirms that the object in the Dark Wheel entry in the Codex is a station - and a specific variant of the Orbis.
