The Quest To Find Raxxla

One question is if the thargoid sensors allign to raxxla within the raxxla system.
Not really worth considering as the only way to verify would be to find raxxla. That makes this unverifiable. You can carry a sensor around but thargoids come after raxxla and there's really no reason to think that the two are linked at this stage.

What's odd is i'm not seeing ANY '1st Footfall' names on any of the planets ( within sys map ui ) , and when i stepped onto one of the planets i didn't get a 1st Footfall indication either. - Perhaps this types of original game LORE systems aren't coded for Odyssey 1st Footfalls?
Inhabited systems cannot receive "first footfall" (it's assumed that one of the inhabitants already has)

Systems which become inhabited later keep their existing tags but can't gain new ones.

One question is if the thargoid sensors allign to raxxla within the raxxla system.
If raxxla is in the direction to merope then the thargoid sensors will allign to raxxla but it looks like they allign to merope.
Unless somebody travels in sc enough, so then the thargois sensor would align not any more to merope.
It's not impossible that it's true but that's not saying very much.

As with most such theories - short of someone else finding Raxxla - you'd never be able to definitely prove it wrong. And attempted tests of the theory really don't rule out very much as "not Raxxla", and are extremely time-consuming to carry out. If you fly 0.1 LY in supercruise perpendicular to the Merope line, drop a sensor, and it continues to point to Merope, then all of the following three cases are completely indistinguishable:
- you're not in the Raxxla system and Thargoid sensors don't react to Raxxla anyway
- you're not in the Raxxla system, so your sensor will always point to Merope no matter how far you supercruise
- you are through sheer millions-to-one luck in the Raxxla system, but you're wrong about the Thargoid sensor theory so you still can't detect it this way

Still, if you believe that's the answer then you can certainly start building up a list of "systems Thargoid sensors don't detect Raxxla in" fairly quickly.

If we had Raxxla theories which came up with "here's a strong case for Raxxla being in specific system A" more often, then "here's my wild idea B for how it might be hidden" theories would at least provide a relatively small A vs B set of crosschecking. But most people trying to work out where Raxxla is very rarely get as far as the stage of narrowing it down to a single system and then going "now what?"

If we had Raxxla theories which came up with "here's a strong case for Raxxla being in specific system A"

Plus, this theory would have to come from playing Elite Dangerous and analysing what's in the game and the game only; not by comparing Elite 2 star maps, Holdstock's Alien World, Thalmor Lenses and... you get the idea. ;)

Absolutely, if you dont know where raxxla is, it is allmost imposible to identify the system where raxxla is located.
If you have a list with systems you strongly believe raxxla is there, then maybe it makes sense.
The Dark Wheel Toast is solved as follows:

  • Zeta Cassiopeia (The jewel)
  • Mereope (The whisperer/siren)
  • Algol (The parent's grief)
  • Aldebaran (The lover's woe)
  • Iota Persei (The vagabond heart)
Aldebaran belongs to taurus constellation, according to myth he was looking at the pleiades sisters (i he was looking at merope or one of her sisters you may correct me).
Aldebaran is the eye of the bull. So this could be considered as a instruction to sc in the direction of merope.
Iota Persei: Perseus killed medusa and used her head as a tool/weapon to kill the seamonster cetus. Medusa is also a thargois ship.
I am a noob in the topic AX combat. But if you kill a medusa or another thargoid ship, do they drop thargoid sensors ?
Anyway you can find them on at crashed thargoid ships. This doesn't mean that the thargoid sensor will allign to merope, just an extra hint: Do the same that the thargoid sensor does.
in this case this information does not help because you dont know the distance unless the sensor will catch it even if you supercruse at high speed.
Good luck.
If you dont have success finding raxxla in the systems you expect to find it, then you have to find hints/clues that give you the information in wich system you have to jump.
Your post helped me to see things i haven't seen before. I believe you found a piece of the puzzle that has a prety good value.
Thank you for your post.

ahhh ok, makes sense then yeah thanks for the info CMDR

btw, regarding the rest of my prior post in response to Reyedog's other post & system: i ended up finding this 'ship installation' ironically called 'Hidden Pastures' which was very close to a STAR and for some reason was disappearing from my panel-1 listing after a certain distance. That, combined with some strange NPC local proximity chatter on the right (which i'd never seen before) AND the following aforementioned sorta RAXXLA-ish type description...
Nee26nope - Copy.jpg

...made me go down to a nearby planet which had the 'surface excavation' ^ , which caused me to data-scan those ^ mining drills in hopes of maybe learning a clue or lead or whatever. ( re: "treasure" )
But alas, no dice. Just another dead-end. :(

p.s. i can't seem to locate that planet ^^ called 'Suraan' anywhere in EliteDangerous game ( yet ) .

I agree, but the case "talmor lenses" is an exception.
Because:
1. tamor is a system in the game.
2.
In regards to Persephone/Cora.
In the Dark Wheel Novella, Jason Ryder's ship is the Avalonia. Avalon (An island in myth) system containing the the Persephone station.
Worth noting is the Noctilux station in Avalon. Noctilux is a very expensive camera lens made by Leica Cameras.
3.
Therefore, my hope is that FDev's "silence" ( on Raxxla , as well as Radicoida time-shift ) signifies to the playerbase of searchers to continue , rather than, well, curtains.
Otherwise, they ( FDevs ) would have to be just plain intentionally CRUEL human beings....and i refuse to believe that. 🙏
I don't believe that the time-shift is a bug. It is a hint from FD, it could be a starting point, which in combination with a vector and a distance will lead somewhere.;)

Possibly. But then the game contains Paradise Lost references (including a direct quote from it in the memorial beacon which also references Raxxla). I doubt one needs to have read it to find Raxxla, but the idea that Michael Brookes indicated things which were Raxxla clues by making them also be Paradise Lost references I don't think is implausible. Not necessarily right, but since so far all approaches to finding Raxxla have had identical success it's difficult to say further.

The proximity chatter is fairly normal BGS-state-based chatter. (War, I think? Could be wrong on that)

System descriptions are likely mainly provided as part of the old Player Minor Faction process - in this case, it seems to line up pretty well with the "Eternal Throne of Suraan" PMF, who seem to have been slightly more imaginative than the usual "system X is home to mercenary group Y who do bounty hunting and trade" - which makes picking out any which might contain Raxxla clues extremely difficult nowadays. (I would hope that therefore system descriptions are not significant to Raxxla or Frontier wouldn't have allowed players to add thousands of red herrings ... but who knows)

UGH yeah i'm just gonna ignore them from now on , because i had no idea that description could possibly be PLAYER made-up , /sigh
Literally appeared exactly the same as any officially written by FDevs version.
Why wouldn't they have coded it just slightly different ( or marked ) so as to designate clearly it was player created RP text?!!?!!?

Interestingly, if the answer is "because none of Frontier-produced A is a Raxxla clue, so player-produced A is fine not to mark" that rules out quite a lot of things as being potential clues:
- faction names and presence
- station names
- Galnet articles (!)
- Community Goals
- inhabited/uninhabited system status [1]
- tourist beacons
- system descriptive text
- system and planet names (though player-submitted examples of these are so rare that it might be okay in practice)

The things most generally agreed to be probably a Raxxla clue (the Codex) or which have had substantial theories built around them (the landscape signal and other in-game sounds, the Miltonian tourist garden, the memorial beacons, real-world system names) are all still outside this set, of course

Whether Frontier were that responsible is another matter, of course. The idea that the puzzle has got increasingly harder to solve over time and getting it right requires remembering what the game looked like back in 1.0 is not a pleasant one.

[1] Though systems excluded from colonisation are an interesting set - if Raxxla wasn't originally in an inhabited system, would Frontier want it to end up in one? - there are of course those explicitly excluded which might be considered "too obvious", but there's also the set of systems where the 15 LY range limit happens to make them more subtly unreachable. Both the majority of the Orion Nebula complex and the NGC 7822 nebula are just a little bit out of range.

There are also those where they just don't have a valid primary port position but don't get marked as invalid.

The lack of leaks from grumpy staff over a decade do kind of indicate that raxxla restrictions aren't part of mainline development.

Agreed. But if the 15 LY limit was setting up a subtle exclusion, one can come up with all sorts of design justifications for it which don't mention Raxxla at all.
(Equally, of course, that means that it may have nothing at all to do with Raxxla - I'm not saying I necessarily believe that it does, especially since a lot of theories place Raxxla in systems which have been inhabited all along)

That would imply the region around witchhead / orion which is prime time Raxxla theory territory but still several million stars and thus hasn't helped us narrow stuff down much. I also question if they would block the raxxla system. If it's a non signal location then even if it's colonised it's going to be even less likely to get found.

I've become a believer in the theory that our ships and spacesuits are being tested at the Club, and any mention of Raxxla is blocked there. So, we can only find her visually.

My question is, if someone finds Raxxla, how will they know it's her?

We presume that it will be called raxxla or you'll get a message saying that it's raxxla.

The unfortunate thing is we have no idea what we're looking for just that in theory it should exist somewhere we can reach.

I didn't quite understand you. What does the message mean? From whom? Considering that our ships and suits were designed by the Club.
A message means that you may get a message in your in game messages window. Either by scanning something or by arriving at a location. The game does both in other places. If the location doesn't identify itself by name as you approach it I'd expect there to be a message of some type. It could also be hidden in the game audio for the location. We just do not know what to expect. What we do know is the various ways that the game can provide us as commanders with information and I expect it to confirm you're at the correct spot once you get there.

Perhaps you're misunderstanding me. For example, to find Raxxla, you need to be on a ship not belonging to the Club, like the Thargoid ship...

Raxxla has to be accessible with what we have available in game if it can be found. It's pointless to consider things that are unavailable to commanders like a thargoid ship. That'd require a storyline update and if we think it's narratively blocked and completely unavailable in game there's no point even looking for it.

Another translation error. I didn't write that it's unavailable. I wrote how to correctly identify it.

For example, some systems have two names: a catalog number and a name. Which system with a number could have such a name?

We can find Raxxla, but how can we know it's the one we're looking for?
