If Raxxla still existed the Thargoids would never even be in our space. Something catastrophic must have happened to their world.
If that is the case, shouldn't mean we can't still find it (or what is left of it) though. Not even sure there is a Thargoid connection to Raxxla, isn't the gateway(s) to other universes there just referred to as being "alien"?

I believe Soontill is the only planet with a canon connection to Thargoids (from And Here the Wheel). Assuming that is still canon of course. And the station at Peregrina (from Out of the Darkness). Oh, and Polaris I guess too, although even that has a big question mark over it with the canon overhaul.

Perhaps the technology on Raxxla was Guardian in nature - "guarding" access to the other universes or perhaps their home universe via the gateways.

Idea!

Has anyone tried to get extreme negative rep with a faction(s) in Shinrarta Dezhra to see if that triggers the scripted dw missions? Maybe enemy of the Pilots Federation?

Drat I wish I was there to try this myself and not on the other side of the galaxy. :(

Not sure how feasible that would be if it is the faction controlling the station. You'd just be vaporized every time you tried to dock? I think Pilot's Fed are still in control?

You say that, but while we're dealing with the Thargoids, we're distracted from looking from Raxxla. Which doesn't sound at all like what the ECoPTMWetc. (the people on Raxxla) would want. Definitely not what they would want at all....

Correct, there is nothing I am aware of that connects the Thargoids to Raxxla. At the same time, there is nothing that states there isnt either.

It seems there is a recent (7 September) no-answer answer from one of the live streams, number 6 here.

Current speculation on the thread linked off of AndyJ's post above seems to be that all "Founder or Elite" missions were removed when they removed rank requirements from the mission system. It would be nice to have that confirmed, and know whether they will come back. And if their absence might be inhibiting or preventing finding Raxxla (or anything else) in any way.

I bet they have the entire storyline idle because of this bug. Just like when the EAFOTS bases were unlandable. History repeats and now FD keep silent to avoid salt.
Seriously, ' We have nothing to announce at this point '.... What kind of an arrogant answer is that ? Don't ask and play the breadcrumbs we give you!

Yes, it was me that asked the question in the livestream ("Because I could")

I followed it up on the next one a fortnight later to ask Paige what "nothing to talk about" meant (as got no response on that thread) but unfortunately had to go answer the door just as I got a reply - I think I caught "nothing to announce right now" as the answer as it scrolled off the screen but it was gone by the time I got back. (Better half's fault!)

Feel free to have a go asking. I've been asking since before v2.0 dropped and I'm pretty fed up with it all now tbh.

Have you read John Harper's book?

I've read it twice (good book!). According to that:
Dark Wheel have never found Raxxla but they did find Soonthill (the Circle occupied it), a world where the Thargoids had completed amazing technical work, full of goid treasures including a device that could provide glimpses of the future, but it had been lost even to the goids.

Also the Thargoids had held several peaceful contact meetings with humanity, and human surveillance posts could detect and translate Thargoid transmission. Which is not happening at the moment, or at least is not being disclosed.

So are you saying Raxxla and Soonthill have become confused? Eveything to date suggests they are two separate things....

Still no answer from French CMDR regarding his find.

So can be discounted.

FDev never said this would be easy ;)
Even as an enemy of the Pilot's Federation there are two other stations in that system which are controlled by the DW. Yes they are planet-based, so you could argue that this would lock it out from Mac users and therefore it cannot be anything to do with Raxxla. Or we could try it and see?

Alternatively try and get the DW to usurp the PFed in Shin-Dezh and take control of Jameson Memorial. That would an interesting BGS war :D

Me too! Part way through third time reading to make sure I've not missed anything. Great story, I'd like to see more FFE from John Harper.

I agree that Soontill and Raxxla are separate things. John wanted to write the story of Raxxla (like everyone!) but couldn't, so AFAIK he changed Raxxla to Soontill, the DW to CIEP, and the rest of the story pretty much stayed as he originally envisioned it (apart from FDev's great red pen of doom!).

I just reported the first post and asked to move the thread, so that we can go on asking about the missions (or is there a new one?).

I'm quite new to Elite and would love to play the missions (and participate in finding Raxxla).

I think the particular missions under discussion here are those for Elite pilots from the Dark Wheel faction and are only available in Shinrarta Dehzra, which is permit-locked & you need to be Elite in at least one discipline to get the permit.

Thanks, I've read about that. New to a Elite is a bit relative ;) I started end of June and am quite close to become an Elite Explorer (had a trip Bubble -> Colonia -> SagA -> Bubble).

Elite or Founder. And I believe they were available elsewhere at one point, although that changed with various updates. See Macros' link to AndyJ's summary upstream.

It would lock it out to non-Horizons owners as well - that said we have no indication that Raxxla would be accessible to owners of only the basic game without expansions.

I think someone did try the BGS with the Dark Wheel at Shinrarta at some point (can't remember who now, a year or two ago) and they did not have much luck as I recall.

I dont think that missions will give us a link to Raxxla. That would be a clue, when the mission is read. I dont think you will feel you are "hot on the trail" when it is found.
I think it will be a combination of dumb luck and reaching for the hardest planet to get to. In the middle of nowhere, and a system you would need a higher jump range than an un-engineered conda.
Ive been toying with looking around the outside of the galaxy and seeing if there is anything I can find that really tough to get to. Or perhaps the area between the Centaurus reach and the Persius arm.
