Zooming into the neutron star with the FSS produces a lot of whispering. And small thargoid like sounds. I can’t say I’ve ever stared at one like this so I don’t know if it’s normal.

I super charged my drive and flew right into the BH, there was a blue hue and the strange distortion effects, but nothing that seems too anomalous. I'm more interested into the nebula/galaxy in the skybox. It's not part of the galmap skybox or a nearby nebula. Can anybody identify it?

Video of the encounter starts with FSS audio of the black hole.

I have also made a video to capture the ambient audio of the black hole. It's probably nothing important.

Ok so heres a thought on the Princess Astrophel and the Spiraling stars...

In MBs book Elite Legacy... Julia mentions her only entertainment as a child was "a single book about a young man's quest to save a princess from an alien dragon. My father must have bought it on the black market. He couldn't have got it from anywhere else."

Im going to go out on a limb and suggest: Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster. Princes Selinas body gets taken over by a Venutian to warn earth about an alien dragon ....

There is a Trio of assassins in Elite Legacy - one of which is named Seline (her fathers name is Rex...) Rex(king) is also the grandfather of Julia.

Could the Luminous Faries (Shobijin) be the same as Halseys Caretakers, or the Sirens of the deepest void?

So we need to find the Omphalos ... or in this case the Egg of Mothra... and beg her to fight off the Thargoids ?

I'm back online to mess about in the system for a bit more. I hope I did not stir up too much hope. I will recharge my FSD and see what happens if I head into the BH with Andromeda directly behind it.

My current hypothesis is that TDW knows the direction from the old worlds and that the Astrophel stuf tells the direction from Sol or Tau Ceti.
These two lines should cross, if they both point to Raxxla.
This should be tested, once you are back from vacation.
FWIW, when you first put up the image of the Summer Triangle, the first thing I thought was that Cygnus X-1 ought to be somewhere near the centre of it. It's in-game under the designation V1357 Cygni. Obviously, there are other potentially interesting places but this was what jumped out at me.

In my search along the path from Tau Ceti to HIP 8178, looking for signs of the Mayflower 97, I've noticed that there are many unmapped worlds in that region. There's certainly the possibility that something could have been hidden in that direction from the Bubble without anyone noticing (readily) until post 3.3. I've completed the outward journey and most of the way back, the latter filtering for unvisited stars. No sign of other Generation Ships or planetary POIs.

Can't find any Simbad designation for gamma Cassiopeia in EDSM. (HD 5394, HR 264, HIP 4427, 2 MASS, etc..)
Isn't it in game ? Gam Cas is the central star in the "W" asterism.

Thx ! Simbad has 27 Cas and Gam Cas designations.
FD invents a 27 Gam Cas...
Pffff... Tedious ED !!
EDIT: ok, just viewed your post about 27Cas, @Tigorath, nicely done . ;)

I'm finally online and decided to check this out myself. This is a really interesting system, a collection of relatively unique star types and some interesting neighbours. I haven't been following the mythology side of things too well, but the LBN 623 nebula really stands out on my approach to the black hole. Looks like some kind of burning jewel.

Images supplied:
Edit: The highlighted nebula is not actually LBN 623, the distorted smudge to the right is. Does anyone know what it is I've highlighted? It's not on the galmap skybox either.
NGC 7822 Nebula, Cupid's Arrow.

Did a quick google :.. snip...

That "O" symbol appears partly in the Raxxla Icon

Somthing like that. I’m on holiday at the moment, so this is mostly in my head for now.
Plotting a few of the concerned bodies doesn't bring anything conclusive. If I didn't mess up the numbers, ofc. :geek:

Cygnus X-1(the radio source) is a black hole in the V1357 Cygni system, in ED.

HIP 98298 is another name listed on Wikipedia for Cyg X-1. In ED this is the separate system, Star of India.

Star of India and V1357 Cygni do of cource align perfectly from Sol.

Star of India also has the same spooky local map anomaly as Deneb(Alpha Cygni).

I'm not sure about Ghidorah but that is a nice find in Elite Legacy about a children's book regarding a princess.

Ya i was going through the books i had on my old kindle... Was a bit of a surprise 😁

Also the system where Legacy takes place is Artemis and it has a planet Laphria (bee).... Just seems to fit certain themes.

As to Ghidorah.. No one believed Princes Selene either.. till it was almost too late.

I’ve dropped Casiopeia from my plots. I don’t think it’s the jewel.
