Tinfoil
So maybe that 'not clue' leads to New Africa. Trojan could be the reference to Troy. And whatever was the decided destination for Atlantis. Adds up if you use enough tinfoil. Well, what are you waiting for lol

Actually I will try to visit Omagua und Atlantis and have a look around. The Prester John part is still puzzling me. What we know as a fact is, the first time John was mentioned by Hugh of Jabbala was in a letter he gave to Pope Eugene III in 1145 which was a fraud, desgined to make the pope call for another crusade. The kingdom of John wasn't named in this letter, but it was supposed to be east of Persia and Armenia - that's why I mentioned Bactria the other day. Besides that the letter contained fanciful details of riches, dragons, satyrs and other fantastic creatures as well as a magic spring that would make you live 300 years (sounds a bit like Raxxla, doesn't it?).

Concerning speculation there were several attempts to link this story to the Mongols, especially Genghis Khan, but that seems nonsense as that peculiar gentleman was born between 1155 and 1167 A.D. so clearly after Hughs little forgery. Other sources thought the St. Thomas Christian from India might have been the ones referred to while others thought it might be the christian kingdom of Ethiopia.

As it all started with a fraud I'm quite convinced this is no myth but a blatant lie designed to stifle a popes greed and beligerence. As there are no names mentioned it's difficult to hammer Galnet with appropriate terms.

Concerning Atlantis: It's a bit unclear whether Platon simply made this up as a parable in "Kritias and Timaios" or whether he was referring to historic facts (I've read somewhere he said he was only relaying a story he had heard from Solon who in turn got it frome some egyptian temple priests). However as some modern scientists believe Troy might have been the Atlantis he was referring to, Eta Cass and Trojan (unlandeable ELW if EDDB is right) might be on my list as well.

Anything better than that boring hell of mining...

By definition, all myths are made up. Otherwise they wouldn't be myths, they would be history..
Not quite. For all we know it was a pre bronze age collapse super power. Usually these stories are based on something. The presumption it's fakes is usually a presumption. And often things that are known to be real keep being called fake over time by people who don't know later on. We know absolutely nothing about that time period. Greek lost it's own writing abilities for gods sake. And we've lost the libraries in egypte several times. Didn't the writer say he got the info from Egypt directly and that it was real.

For all we know it was great britain before it's area was flooded between france and whatnot. Although not an island it could have had those features somewhere and the world was flooded. Maybe there was an island there as described of the preexisting shape and size. Or any of the island underwater before the oceans rise or the land fell or something. There no reason to believe it's fake. It's not impossible. Things disappear catastrophyically all the time. Maybe Atlantis is Pompeii. Not sure if it fits the timeline though(Wrong period unless it had and earlier history and had similar problems.). Plus it could be real and the island description metaphoric for a particular society and it's problems making it a real description or something. There's no limit to the potential. What did zues's brother represent?! He was king of atlantis. Poseiden may have been a real ancient king from before the bronze age collapse.

The other simple possibility is that it's America. It could have been refering to an ancient civilization of the time. Maybe sea traveling was far superior to what we know back then. Or maybe tech was very different and what advanced was was very different. All it takes is our lack of knowledge of common sea faring knowledge. The bronze age could have reduced that. For all we know that was better prior to the collapse. What if it's collapse was the explosion of the super volcano in yellow stone or something?

There is a version where it is Tampa florida and the americas are the rest of the description. The continent part. The same could go for britain and doggerland. It actually sunk.

Btw, if anyone still has doubts about weird things happening in the Bermuda Triangle, even major hurricanes may loose their way over there:

I spent a week there, sailing from Bahamas to Bermuda. Didn’t even see a mysterious light. It’s a quiet place i April.
Met a huge whale with her calf though. She was friendly and came so close I could have jumped on top.
She probably didn’t notice that I’m Norwegian. ;)

If you want to know more about historical hoaxes and specifically this one, just read the true master. Umberto Eco's Baudolino.

Keep your head down!
I wouldn't worry about him as I bet he will spend this terrrrrible and friiiiiiightening couple of days hidden underground in some bodeguita around the Calle 8 enjoying mojitos and some complaisant latina's company. 🥳

Seems a worthwhile read. Had only read Foucaults Pendulum by Eco so far. Thanks for the advice.

I thought Atlantis was based on Thebes or a Greek island that got destroyed by a volcano, its a popular area for volcanoes and islands made of volcanoes. Pompeii wasn't the only one.

So Prester John is most likely a fraud rather than a myth? Interesting, so Raxxla is now compared in the Codex to 2 myths and 1 fraud...maybe the Codex is trying to tell us something but unlike Fox Mulder 'I refuse to believe!' that.

I am seriously wondering what else is in the game from the books, probably not of FR depth but who knows.

I hate to be one of those people.. But the current fascination with "fake news".... Gerrr< stomps around shaking fist at sky>( Fdev)
Its all subjective... The myth of Prester John was an active part of the Wests view of the East for a period of time... Just like Eldorado in the Americas and Atlantis for the Greeks ( all of which were theme based on older tales- yes even prester john) . They symbolzed wonderous lands beyond the boarders... And affected very real world decisions. So Myths yes... Fake? Sure they are all fake. But also all very real.

Further, since a lot of them are precisely orientated to the cardinal directions (NEWS) and many also factor in major star constellations and celestial objects we've only 'officially' learned about in the recent past, there's a possibility humans were significantly smarter thousands of years ago than we are right now.

Pharao Zero was recently traced (artefakts) to 5000 BC. Oldest known megastructure - 10.000 BC. Drastic climatic change (extinction of many species) - 10.800 BC.
Incas explicitly stated to Spains (documented) that they had NOT builded those structures - they already existed long time ago. Fascinating.
