The Quest To Find Raxxla

If you are looking for piles of Elite Missions, try the Canonn's proposed home system of Varati. I took 4 Obfuscating missions in 1 hit yesterday, all to another station in the same system. There are always many Sap 8 missions available to those with the rank.
The system is also the closest to Polaris.
Hi Dommaarraa, Varati is indeed special with regards to the Elite missions, there's a lot of special types of the missions; the "Obfuscated In..." missions all goes to Forsskal Hub, so this outpost is special somehow. There's no "Sealing The Deal" or "The Silent Song Of The Spheres" missions, which is a bit strange, I can understand the absence of the "Sealing The Deal" missions as there's no nearby populated systems for the Dark Wheel to join forces with, but I'm a bit surprised about the absence of the "The Silent Song Of The Spheres" missions.

The actinic light of the Varati main star is very pleasing to my eyes, so I might stay a while in Varati.

I'll go hunt for systems similar to Varati to see if the pattern repeats itself.

Systems

This post lists the systems that are systems of interest, whether by lore, tips, or otherwise.

Shinrarta Dezhra
Stations: Jameson Memorial.
Remarks: Dark Wheel is present as a faction.

Naits
Stations: McDivitt Orbital
Remarks: High Tech.

Varati

Krisha

Harma

Phraces

Tionisla

HIP 86063
Stations: Chasles Landing (Coriolis Starport), Benoyovszky Dock (outpost), Velho Platform (outpost)

I wouldn't read too deeply into why the missions are between stations in Varati.
It is isolated away from all the other systems in the area. There aren't many other systems that you could easily say were "neighbours".

Voices In The Black Box Missions

Apparently the Black Box'es have been seeded from the factory with identical voice soundtracks?, just recorded a black box from Synuefe VQ-B B46-1 and the voices definitely sounds like this previous recording. So I really hope that other Cmdr's recordings contains other voice tracks...

It's nice to see the familiar faces around here :)

Former UA Bearer here, ready to activate once 1.4 hits.

I faintly remember reading that the black boxes have the same audio and it translates to "this is a black box, please return to the nearest station" or something similar. Here is hoping I'm wrong.

The writings on the side could be interesting. If any. Writings on SAP8s and various other items/rares seem to be a dead end as most of them match, even the serial numbers. Only difference is that some are missing.(Did NOT decode the barcode though, but I suspect it's the same)

As for missions in isolated systems: I have just finished a tour of the Sirius corp "footholds". Apart from the last 2 that are close to each other, all of the others had only charity and raxxla missions. So I conclude that these are the only mission types present in any system that does not have a close neighbour (15 ly)

Yes, although I guess it doesn't hurt to try again :)

Edit: Raxxla not found in search in 1.3 or 1.4, Jaques station still at Gliese 1269 in both.

The isolated systems I've found and run missions in, seems to confirm this pattern. Not sure why "The Silent Song Of The Spheres" mission requires another system though.

SAP 8 Core Container Ship Convoy Types

On my quest to find Raxxla, I have been taking a few "Discrete Redistribution Agent Desired" missions and I wanted to share my tips of dealing with them in this post. This mission is by far the most dangerous mission of the Raxxla missions, I've lost Shuruga at least twice, and Ryath at least 6 times trying to recover SAP 8 Core Containers. This is also the reason why Shuruga is equipped with "Military Grade Composite bulkheads" and Ryath is equipped with "Mirrored Surface Composite bulkheads" to give us the extra critical few seconds to scoop the SAP 8 Core Container and make our getaway.

Why are the missions so incredibly dangerous? - the reason is simple; you need to steal 1 or 2 SAP 8 Core Container(s) from heavily guarded convoys. I have listed the different types and my specific tactics to accomplish the goal of SAP 8 Core Container "redistribution" below. Note that the tactics for dealing with military convoys also works for "redistributing" Hafnium 178 canisters which are always military convoys, and I imagine it'll work for liberating the unicorn of Elite: Dangerous; the Unknown Artefact although I have yet to come across this particular convoy type.

A word about systems for convoy encounters. When engaging double military convoys, I only do it in unpopulated systems as the other convoy for some reason won't come to the rescue of the first convoy. However in populated systems, the other escort will engage you.

  • Civilian T-6 Transporter convoy
A T-6 Transporter escorted by Sidewinders and Eagles. Take out the escort, some of the ships may jump away. Take the shields of the T-6 Transporter, fire the hatch breaking limpet and scoop the SAP 8 Core Container.

  • Civilian T-7 Transporter convoy
A T-7 Transporter escorted by 3 Eagle's and 3 Sidewinder's. Take out the escort, some of the ships may jump away. Take the shields of the T-7 Transporter, fire the hatch breaking limpet and scoop the SAP 8 Core Container. Consider taking the drive of the T-7 Transporter as he may attempt to jump away.

  • Military T-9 Transporter convoy
A T-9 Transporter escorted by 2-3 Anaconda's. Preferred tactic is the Smash'n'Grab'n'Run'n[SUB](tm)[/SUB]. When the T-9 is escorted by 3 Anaconda, I usually leave it alone, but when pressed for time, I kill the 1 Anaconda by ramming it, reducing the problem of 3 Anaconda's to 2 Anaconda's which is more doable :)

  • Double Military T-9 Transporter convoy
2 T-9 Transporter convoys flying together, 1 with 2-3 Anaconda's and 1 with 4 Cobra's. Only engage in unpopulated systems, unless you feel very lucky.

The military convoys will sometimes be escorted by 3 Vultures and a Federal Dropship. Wait for them to jump away, and then engage the convoy.

Edit: And if you bring more fire power, i.e. a wingman, the NPC's will simply just add more. The NPC convoy below was a 13 wing convoy. (I cannot fathom where they get all those NPC's from)

Hi. Interesting search. Not Elite yet and sadly barely any time available for helping, but would love to participate.

One question though. What does Jaques Station have to do with Raxxla, that you are monitoring it's position?

Hi Cmdr,
As with so much else Raxxla, it's based on hunches, gut feelings and guesswork; Jaques Station is, as you may know, the only known station that moves from system to system, so its special...

It is, however, not the only station with engines. ("Hint hint nudge nudge know what I mean know what I mean?")

Thanks. I do know it moves, that's why it caught my attention. I'm not fully aware of the lore behind it though, and I will explore it a bit. I never thought it might actually be looking for something.

If it is, I will try to follow that lead (also a hunch...). The lore I can study from hotels, and if the lore gives some hint on my "hunch", then I'll need the game, which is hard to get into lately due to work.

In any case, I like these kind of mysteries and I need a new goal in the game, so I hope you don't mind that I tag along for the search.

That the actual presence of Raxxla has been confirmed by DB is a great incentive. I'm one of those that was very involved on the search for the Formidine Rift, just to find out that it isn't there, but it was a great search nonetheless.

Hello Commanders, I'm sharing this with you in the case you missed it: http://www.drewwagar.com/progress-report/raxxla-the-definitive-guide/

From the wording chosen by Drew I'd bet that he doesn't know the location, only DB.

Then I have an idea, if you remove all filters from the map, you can see some "bright spots": maybe one of those "bright spots" include a very special system?
On the other hand, it could be in a zone with a very difficult access, such as out of the plane of the galaxy, with sparse systems. Which one would be the most probable choice by FD, knowing that "there will be no clues"?

Thanks for the link, very interesting!

I actually think that there has to be hints, nobody found them yet, or we did and didn't realize. Probably the elite missions are the biggest hint, but they are unavailable to me yet. By the way, which are the target system for these missions? Do they follow a pattern, or point in a specific direction?

Removing the filters is an idea, but there are still tons o special systems seen with your method. We need an approximate direction.

The planet is supposed to be rogue (am I right?). If so, there is no known way to find or jump into a rogue planet. There is a way though on how it could have been implemented, and you can look into the ancient probe in Sol as an example. FD could have placed the planet in a normal system, but very far away, without orbit, and maybe only detectable by looking at a specific direction. A rogue planet would also be without a sun (or too far away), and thus ice type and landable in horizons! Again just a hunch...
