Had to try this myself.
Can't get near Belt Cluster 2. Nearer you get in SC more throttle you need until about 6.5Mm, then can't get any nearer. In normal space it goes away from you rapidly

Might we be.. on to something?

But for now I will go to bed first as I am about 30 hours overdue with sleep.... almost enough materials for over 100 FSD rolls..

Are you seeing the same behavior as that shown by Mitterand Hollow?

It orbits so fast that you can't actually keep up with it since your frame of reference in the central body - have to get in front and wait for it to arrive.

difficult to tell, as not enough reference points. I experimented for over 30 mins trying to get close. You get within about 15Mm then stick there. increasing throttle gets you closer but then you stick again, repeat until about 6.6Mm away then can't get any nearer. My ship will not allow me to increase throttle any more once at minimum distance.

Exactly what I experienced. If you go far enough away and come in at full throttle, then make an emergency stop, you can get close, but it immediately pushes you out again. Interestingly, in the attempts I made it never seemed consistent how quickly I'd get pushed away (sometimes almost straight back to 22Mm, once hanging on at 0.10Mm for a few seconds before crawling back).

Whatever angle you take, and whether you're in supercruise or not, you seem to run into the same distance-blocking bump. That suggests to me that it's not something like a fast-moving object we're not keeping up with, but something else. Question is, is this working as intended, or is it a bug? Does anyone know of anything else happening like this?

Something is definitely hauling the Castellan Belt Cluster 2 along at 1.36Mm/s. The belt cannot be locked and jumped into like other locations from the Nav Tab. I managed to get within 1Mm range and then emergency drop, but without a Safe disengage ready message. Whatever object is driving the belt is also ghost-like, i.e. no face planting emergencies happened.

Would it maybe be possible to try and approach it from the other direction? If you were to turn around, last minute, you would probably have a few seconds to safe drop inside it (though you would have to turn around, accelerate, and wait for it to pass you - either that or get 'too close' and emergency drop)

However, IF something is pulling the asteroid field around, I though we may find clues inside the field, it would be more helpful if someone found exactly what is pulling it - and where to find it. Just because it isn't near the field, doesn't mean it isn't there - this is something of a 'gravitational anomaly' - something that shouldn't be there, which possibly points to Raxxla. If we consider that maybe it's only travelled to Lave recently, maybe that's why nobody's noticed this before? Either way, good luck everyone! :)

It was reported in the permits thread in april this year. Seem to be a bug, but you never know. :)

I discovered this Cluster as well before beginning my Expedition for Raxxla out in the black. I witnessed a CMDR by the name of Nobleman Zero make it into the cluster. He messaged me this, when i asked how he made it in and what was in there;
"I eyeballed the orbit, got a little bit ahead of it, made many runs, then managed to "disengage". It was clutch. Nothing of interest in there: same as the rest."
So, i guess its just a glitch, or something unfinished?

Maybe it's not the asteroid field that's of interest here; the asteroid field is moving, and it can't be doing that by itself, if we can find what's pulling it along, we might find either Raxxla, or part of the puzzle. I would try myself, but I'm 10Kly from the bubble, and not returning anytime soon...

Sounds like a fast orbit. I'm also miles away so can't check, but it'd be worth seeing if there's anything there that does not have a concentric orbit with Lave - perhaps whose orbit is being stretched by another body hitherto unfound.

Or...it's a bug. Like Mitterand Hollow. That has already been reported.

I've put 44kly's on the clock looking for Raxxla. I'd love to find it as much as any of us, but let's not turn nothing into something.

Also, I prefer my crow medium rare, with a side of mushy peas...should the need arise.

This is the problem with looking for anomalies - when you find one, there's no way to tell if it's deliberate or a bug.

Well Commanders, she's ready to go, the Abyss awaits us!

Anyway... we are on our way to vastly unexplored territory, The Abyssal Plain. Something is drawing me to there and I want to know what it is... But first stop: Colonia!
