<snip>

The only (known) sentient life in ED currently are the Thargoids and the now extinct Guardians and Acherons. There's likely to be others in the future (permit locked areas are permit locked for a reason!).

Yes, that's entirely possible.

Forgive my ignorance Louis but "Acherons"? This is the first I've heard mention of them and a (admittedly quick) Google search didn't reveal anything obvious...

Sorry, it's entirely possible I made the name up at some point! It's these things (which I dearly wish there was more info on):

"Indigenous Species of Achenar
The planet Capitol in the Achenar system had alien sentient life. They unintentionally went extinct due to human colonists who brought bacteria to the planet in the middle of the 23rd century. The bacteria were deadly for the indigenous species. There wasn't much appreciation for alien sentient life at the time.

The system of Achenar was chosen for the outdoor world orbiting one of its gas giants, already capable of supporting human life, now known as Capitol. There was already life on the planet and though Duval didn’t know it at the time, one of the few known sentient species watched their landings.

Back then, life was known to be plentiful throughout the galaxy, though it wasn’t appreciated how rare sentient life was. Before long the species was made extinct by the settlers, mainly through imported bacteria. Much later, this extinction would later be used as a pretext for Federal intervention in the system."

Thinking about it, maybe Achenerions? Acheneronines? Achenerites?

There's also the Mars artefact, which I forgot to mention. It may or may not be Guardian, but it's unlikely to be Thargoid. That might represent another Sentient race.

Non-Human Relic
In 2280, the first non-human relic was found in space. The object was found buried on Mars; it was no bigger than a child's hand and is still surrounded in secrecy, even in 3300. No information has ever been circulated as to the properties of this item or its origin, other than it is non-human.

Why TRIPLE Elite, if true ?
You only need Elite to interact with TDW. So ... (tinfoiling) if true, you need the other two Elite status in order to get the trade and combat Elite (assuming you started Elite as Explorer) missions from the factions involved. Then ... unlocks...something?
(If someone wants to try a little experiment: get allied with TDW, then go to Mariyacoch and look closely at you status with the factions there and the first welcome speech. Anything special ?
Repeat in Ticushpakhi.)

Just a theory :D

@Han_Zen: wow !

As per page 1, the three TDW missions for Elites (Obfuscated in the Outer Rim, etc.) were setup as one for each category of Elite - Explorer, Trader, and Combat. Might explain DJSoothsayer's supposition.

IIRC, there was a hint from Allen Stroud on one of the livestreams waaaaaay back that, depending on how you interpret what he said, may have indicated that the Mars Artifact was a UA or UA-related. Discussion about this is buried waaaaay back on the UA threadnought somewhere, and there may (or may not) be a footnote to this effect with a link to the original stream on the UA wiki (if it still exists). Neither of which I can honestly be bothered to look for right now.

There was also quasi-related supposition around this and Kahina/Salome's visit to Mars at one point too I think.

Very good summary in one line of what I wrote in..err..one line. Besides yours is much more intelligible. :)

Stuff I was thinking about driving to work....the two x's in Raxxla intrigue me.

is the "L" in Raxxla definitely an "L"? What if it was a number 1?
If so then what if the two x's represented a binary star system. One star with a Rocky world and an Ammonia world orbiting, the other with a Class 1 Gas Giant, and an Ammonia World orbiting. I've no idea how to search for specific system layouts.

What if the word Raxxla represented a journey Ra --> mysterious "xx" --> La. This one I'm less sure about. Not sure what they could mean.

Many possible interpretations of the mysterious double X.

In Egyptian mythology Ra would be the sun and La(Lah) would be the Moon. Putting the XX between them.

Not that it would help us much. :D

Wow, I think that's worthy of this month's gold-plated tinfoil hat award. Love it.

This is quite thought provoking. I must say it does very much feel like we're no closer to finding Raxxla than before ED was released. Like, it's all well and good saying Raxxla is in the game but without any legitimate leads it's basically useless info.

But if Raxxla isn't it's name, but it's location, now that's interesting.

I swear I read recently there is a way to query EDDB to find systems with specific bodies i.e. ammonia worlds that are within x LS of the main star etc.. can't for the life of me remember where I found it though :S!

I'm going to come across as a naysayer again but wasn't Raxxla first mentioned in Robert Holdstock's "Alien World" illustrated guide (produced under the pseudonym Steven Eisler), which pre-dates even TDW? I don't think the name is tied to Elite in and of itself...

Look a few pages back, Jaiotu already found the original use of the name in some literary work from the first half of the 20th century.

I'm triple elite, allied with TDW, never been to Mariyacoch system before and currently investigating. I can't say there would be anything interesting to report. Besides the earth-like world orbiting a class L dwarf, thats maybe a bit unusual. I will report if anything changes.

This ship log will be used to document the assumptions, facts, theories and efforts surrounding Raxxla, with the ultimate goal of locating Raxxla. All commanders willing to join are most welcome. If no new entries are made by me for a period of 2 weeks, you must assume that I have been eliminated by the Dark Wheel, swallowed by the abyss, or found Raxxla and have gone there. I hope for the latter (but will probably send pretty postcards).

Raxxla
A planet in another galaxy? with an alien construct that's a gateway to other Universes. The Dark Wheel found it (and lost it?), and will keep it's location secret at all costs.

Assumptions

  • Raxxla exists and can be found.
    • Supporting indications:
      • The existence of the Dark Wheel faction which is strongly connected to Raxxla.
      • Missions[2][3][4][6] are currently was being handed out and might be related to Raxxla.
        • Mission [2] mentions a rumour that talks about:"A Certain celestial body. Place that isn't a place, door that is also the key. The myth.". Upon delivery you receive a message mentioning a map and a context for coordinates.
        • Mission [6] is very vague about the "hunt for, well, you know", but could be a reference to Raxxla. However, this mission could be feeding the ships log (data crystals or spheres?) into the Mission: Obfuscated In The Outer Rim.
      • Strongest indication for the existence of Raxxla so far is Drew's blog entry[7]

Theories
  • Members of the Dark Wheel are already making inter-galactic jumps using the spheres they have onboard, hence the "intercept Dark Wheel ships" Elite only mission.
    • Complete missions to see if it gives any results.
    • Tail all and any Dark Wheel ships using a wake scanner to see if they suddenly inexplicably disappear.
  • The Dark Wheel has lost[6]? the location of Raxxla and are currently trying to decrypt data crystals? to recover the location. Missions[2][3][5] indicate that the Dark Wheel is having no luck decrypting the data crystals themselves and are employing the services of others to assist in this endeavour, directly and indirectly.
  • Raxxla is in an another galaxy and the only way to get to it is using the key;the gateway placed in our galaxy. Where would one place an alien gateway in our galaxy?
    • Possible gateway incarnations:
      • "Gateway station" - a station acting as a gateway, upon entering you are instantly transported?, how would you select destination - one station - one destination?
      • Jumping into a permitted system transports you to another universe? - Witch's Reach? - or a station in the permitted system is the gateway
      • Entering hyperspace in a particular fashion or in a particular system will transport you?
      • A system with the alien construct with a letterbox orbiting a planet, just like a station?

Pardon my complete ignorance, but this all sounds very interesting and lovecraftian.

Is there some way that I can do this? Where do these missions come from?

That's a bodies search in ROSS at EDDB.IO.

However it's been changed so you can no longer search the entire DB but are restricted to 100 lyr around a target system, there may be away around that depending on your search terms.

However you can download the entire DB https://eddb.io/api and create your own db to search any way you want.
Your EDDiscovery DB has all that too so you could pick it apart too.

May be useless for Raxxla as EDDB only has stuff already found.

Best bet would be to get FancyBear to hack Fdev. :x

Hi CMDR, the missions listed in the OP are no longer available. AndyJ gave a great account here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-Find-Raxxla?p=5869706&viewfull=1#post5869706

We've tried to get information from FD about the reason why the missions was removed, but nothing concrete so far. And I wouldn't hold my breath for a reply.

There's no significant leads as to the location, only very vague hints.

Yes, that was kind of my point (by way of reminder). Thinking further though, it's not inconceivable that the star Jaitou is theorising about was encoded into the name Raxxla by Robert Holdstock in a manner similar to the one Evoflash describes...

...does that qualify me to have my own tin-foil hat too? :)
