The races, official gameplay

Hello Cmdr 0?

Suggestion of official gameplay for races in CQC or in the Universe. With the rings as in the tutorial for beginners who are learning how to manoeuvre.
I am well aware that the subject has already had to be raised. But I'm new, and I haven't noticed any change in the game so far. And that's a shame because there is a lot of potential for fun gameplay. Whether it's RSV (even if it's not made for that in the first place...) or of course on a ship...

See you in the Verse Cmdr.

Racing's very much a part of the game already! Designing tracks and hosting events is a key part of this, rather than being any 'pre-prepared' tracks FDev. Good design is a skill in itself - although having the ability to add waypoints would help, but basically - if you like the idea of racing, just get involved. Plenty of action happening :)

Last weekend saw 2 ERF (Elite Racers) hosted events:

The Quarantine Cup (which is a series) on Saturday...

And a new core event test on Sunday...here:

(and yeah - that is a Viper mk4 ;) )

As well as the actual racing groups like ERF and Buckyball Racers (who are more into supercruise/hyper stuff), there's many squads and groups that run their own events too.

I was talking about the rings placed here and there in different systems and asteroid belts... that would be great. As well as in the CQC.
But if we can't do it in the universe... At least in the CQC... there is a strong demand, a huge competitive potential.

Bad idea imo. Training rings just kinda force you to take a particular line, which might not actually be the best line for a corner - if you see what I mean. In addition, funnelling multiple racers through a little ring is a bad idea for what I hope are fairly obvious reasons.

Same with CQC ships which are too slow and lacking agility comparatively. We can already race around CQC-type installations in the main game anyway. Literally don't see any point in CQC racing when the main game offers so much more. (locations, ship choices, engineering, performance etc).

All I can suggest is that if there's huge demand for racing in CQC (which I've never even heard of!) - that those folks just come race properly in real ships :p

Firstly I'd like to take the opportunity to point towards the Elite Racers where everything racing in-instance takes place. Ship racing in 0g, on planets, SRV racing, you name it.

Second I have to agree with Sanderling. A lot of people have been asking for the hoops from the training tutorial but I never thought about how limiting they really are. A ship would barely fit in. We struggle so much going even through station tunnels.

I'd suggest hologram hoops with various sizes that can be deployed by racers, preferably without collision. Even better would be if the game would track position/standing based on the hoops, like an impromptu race in GTA5.

Edit: Oh and yeah, check out the videos Sanderling posted above. They are from earlier this week and showcase very well how incredibly cool and alive Elite racing really is. Come join us!
