The Rhino, and mining rigs.

So far, I don't hate it. A stable (yet slow) APC that can deploy mining rigs and potentially give decent cover fire.
The Mining loop is slow, simple, and I can do that while reading audiobooks etc.

I can see it being a legitimate great option for people carrier exploring who need to get tritium. Ice is common.

Question though: On the prebuilt Rhinos, how do you reload the mining rigs?

I don't mean: Contacts, pack for transport, and drive over it.

I mean how do you replenish the 12 rigs.

See, if you relog, you lose your deployed rigs. Tested.
If you board ship, you lose your deployed rigs. Tested.

If you land at a Carrier, you can't reload items, only refuel. Tested.
If you land at a T3 station in a well maintained colonized system, it's the same. Tested.

So what? Unequip the rhino and re-equip at station every time? Or am I missing a trick?

Can you synthesize new rigs?
First of all, that's a beautiful Krait there. I hope one day the older ships get proper SCO refits and we can fly them again.
Secondly - Testing. Yes. You can Synthesize Mining rigs. 3 iron, 2 Nickel, 1 Mech Eqpt.
Each Synthesis reloads to max. (at least it loaded 6 as I was 6/12).

There is a problem though :D There are no NPC to kill and get mech in space with carrier.
But where 12 is coming from ? I see 6

Chances are virtually any player will have the necessary low-grade raw and manufactured materials already, in plentiful supply through normal gameplay.

It is finite when you travel on carrier. You can travel 2 years and ge 300 to zero if you synth only.

That would result in the player, if 300 Mechanical Equipment was the starting loadout, synthesizing1,800 mining rigs. That's a serious amount of mining without any stops to sell the proceedings, and ditching the mining rigs every single time instead of collecting them.

Ok, Close example, I have 114 now. Will it be enough for 2 years? In the center on carrier and 70ly total way ahead. What do you think ?
I think it is the problem If I will have to relay on those 114.

114 Mechanical Equipment would let you synthesize 684 mining rigs. That's still a vast amount of rigs and you are unlikely to run out unless, as mentioned above, you on purpose never recover the rigs upon collecting materials/commodities but leave them behind.

And? Probably I do. Carrier should re-supply. I think we can always install scarab for 20k, than this one free again, it should restore rigs.

Are you guys happy with the size of mining areas? It seems I can only have one active rig per spot. Even if I deploy a second one nearby, it never starts mining.

So far, I've managed to deploy four rigs by placing them 2–3 km apart in different spots, with anything farther away being out of range.

Is this how it's supposed to work? Personally, I'd prefer larger mining areas where multiple rigs can operate. Maybe it's just the few planets I've tried, though.

My suggestion for FDev would be to reduce the minimum mining rig separation distance to 50 meters. 100 meters seems a little high considering how small many of the deposits are.

100% Agree!, the deployment distance is way to far apart now. Should be much closer, it takes a considerable amount of time just to fill one rig.

The distance between rigs is around 75m. For me, the distance is fine. I had one mining location where I had 6 mining rigs in action. You have to keep looking.
The codex reports the mining locations are anywhere from a few meters across, up to 300m max.

Oh you know what I mean. Listening to Audiobooks / Reading books. I do both when doing "passive" tasks in Elite.
