The Roughnecks are a small, but active player group built around three core ideas. Recruit with care, treat people with respect, and keep things simple. I run the group like I would want it run if I were a member. People are expected to show up, a-holes and the obnoxious aren’t recruited, and inactive members are removed. That’s not to say we don’t have fun, and quite often at each others expense to be honest, but in the end we’re a team. They’re a great bunch, and I’m so lucky to have found each of them.
The group has a very wide knowledge base, some of us have been here since beta, and others just started playing recently. Our experience in-game ranges from combat and outfitting to trade and exploration. It’s nice to have that level of experience behind you while enjoying such a big game. We learn new things from each other all the time, and go out of our way to help each other out. We recruit based on personality and willingness to work together. Skill and experience will come with time, so both new and veteran players alike are welcome.
As for Elite, we have our own minor faction based in a large population system with an ag/tourism economy. This means loads of good paying missions for the five fed factions here. There are several excellent outfitting systems within 20LY and we’re in the Li Yong-Rui powerplay area so everything is at a 15% discount. We’re expanding our faction to other systems and looking for some new friends to share in the fun.
Searching for a new player group can be a daunting task, and there are so many really cool groups out there! I’ll be honest with you up front. We’re not perfect. We all have our little quirks, and I wouldn’t want it any other way really. I wouldn’t expect us to ever get all that big either. We don’t immediately recruit everyone that shows up on our Discord, and I regularly remove anyone we haven’t seen in a while. What you end up with though, are people who play regularly and simply enjoy having fun with each other. No headaches, no drama, just cool geek friends to hang out with and play games. In the end, what more could you really ask for from an online player group?
