Some really nice pics here.
Can't believe it took so long to be able to see your own ship when so much work was put into how good they look.

I wouldn't really say I have any nice pictures, but here one I just took because I was near a planetary ring.

Why does this shot look so cinematic? Everything is just so smooth. Is it a downsized 4k screenshot? Even at maxed settings I don't have such a fantastic view :3 maybe I need to step it up and start supersampling...

he's using sweetfx for the cinematic look.

Thank you, Fellow Commanders. there are some real stunning images in here now and i hope the thread will keep going. I have added several of those pictures in here to my Win8.1 Elite Desktop theme and they cycle my desktop picture a couple times per hour. Really nice camera work out there. Do please keep it up ;)

Another shot of my torn up Anaconda, flying between the rocks without shields and 0% hull left, 30k ly away from home. Dead ship flying.

It's a combination of using DSR supersampling, which generates savable images at 2715 x 1527, and some custom SweetFX settings which are designed to give the image a more filmlike appearance. Part of the smoothness is due to a very slight blurring of the image, before filmgrain is applied.

If your card can handle DSR, or it's ATI equivalent, then go for it. For me no other AA method works as well on its own. I do apply a bit of FXAA as well via SweetFX, which smooths out some of the most problematic remaining areas.

Check my signature for the SweetFx files if you're interested. I definitely think they improve the ingame graphics substantially (while making a bit of a mess of the out of game menus), but post processing is very subjective.

The final thing I've done is increased planet and starfield texture resolution within ED's graphics configuration file. If you don't know how to do that check a couple posts down from the same link in my sig. Or PM me if you're still stuck

Cheers :)
