The Smuggling discussion thread

Done it loads of times, only picked up one fine. The 1.7million failed into insignificance considering the profit I was making - I paid it for an easy life.

I am using silent running, it does take a little bit longer though, I often wondered whether it would be worth just not caring about the fine and the day it turns into a bounty just fly a Cobra (for fun) or something cheap.

I don't understand this post. I'm trading Imperial Slaves at 2800 to 3200 per ton without smuggling. Why would anyone smuggle Imperial Slaves for so much less?

It was an old route that was being tanked. The point of the video was the method of identifying stations and smuggling practices in general. A good route now can net ~4.5k per unit now!

Mmmh...getting hostile with the faction owning the station, so the security tries to shoot you down, does not scan you, therefore the station does not open fire... A bit immersion breaking (where is the logic in that??) but nice one! :)

Shoot first. Ask questions latter.

Erm... waves hands and magic happens

My current smuggling route is 5325cr/T.
Also, it's funnier than legal trading.

I use 4 HS Launchers on the "Lady Libertine" and 6D Thrusters (lightest boost possible thrusters), been using her for smuggling since I got her (just now switched to Exploration with her). If I boost at aroiund 5Km I'm still doing 180m/s across the letterbox.

The one time (out of about 20 runs) I got the drift wrong and hit the cage square on it took 2 bars of shields and left me at 0m/s in full view of the Cops, was able spam HSs to keep her unscanable through the slot 10s latter. Hitting the station-spire at 160 removes a bar, 120m/s and under is barely noticable.

TBH you don't need silent-running, you can just turn off the radiators and spam the HSs. So you can keep shields.

A docking computer is a must for when you cross the line, as it's still an Anaconda, you're going to be full of adrenaline and probably way at the far side of the station, let the Autodoc do the reversing and landing :)

Will you please share that route?
Sure, but hurry, not sure how long the "Seeking Goods" convoys will stay there...

PS: and in the meantime, feel free to join Archon :)

Why on earth would he do that? Everyone will jump on it and ruin it.......
Because, as an Archon pledger, I'm a nice guy ;-)
Also, I'd love to see more popularity/love given to snuggling...

I'm a firm believer in smuggling :)

Just checked that route, so it takes you 25 minutes to do a round trip, basically 2 runs an hour. That's quite a poor return for an hours trading IMO, while 5300 odd sounds great if you can only do 2 trips an hour then it's not worth it. I've a 4800cr/t route and i can do 5 trips an hour. Credits per hour is the figure you need to concentrate on.

Nice! Would you mind to share your route as well? :)
Smugglers, unite!

PS: BTW, my jump range is pretty narrow (lesser than 14Ly at full load, Python optimized as an armored tank, prismatic shield is heavy!) so one may be able to do my route faster.
