Sounds like the area has been neglected badly by the government. Losing the EU development fund subsidies is going to hit hard
Brexit is going to hit the area more than just economically. A few people are worried that the Cornish language, Kernowek, which is only spoken by a few hundred people, may be lost without EU support.
Odd that a vote intended to protect British sovereignty and culture may result in the death of one of the British languages.
