yes and as a role player in game,if I am going to do something myself,i will try and be historiccly accurate.....

being a pirate imo is having a license to maim,murder,rob.....and be a general threat to the normal fare of traders .....

id quite happily take your cargo and then your life.....if role playing as a pirate

The game mechanics should reflect the roleplaying part, but currently it doesn't. Piracy against CMDRs relies entirely on the cooperation of the player. Forcing that cooperation is not roleplaying anymore - in my opinion.

Yay for everyone! Seriously, Horizons is gorgeous, adds a lot to the simulation side of the equation...and a little to the game side!

Which brings me to an idea that will probably be bothersome for the game...and possibly cause more pain for Open. With 60% of planets being able to be exploited and landed upon...the dilution of the player base is going to get a lot worse for the players looking for 'random PVP'. Even if a smallish % of players works off of planets rather than in space...an empty feeling 'game' will feel even emptier.

I was going to post a thread about this...but it really feels like a mode issue. So folks...'rare and meaningful' or 'not worth the effort other than in a pre-organized event'? Good for the overall game or a poor choice of content over a bad design?

Good for the game - in the sense that it is being delivered in accordance with the scope of the known major expansions - the "new" size of the play area should be no surprise to anyone who is familiar with Frontier's vision of the game.

Will it require players to organise PvP more? Possibly.

Bad design? Not in my opinion - it would only be bad design for a game designed to focus on PvP....

I think it will be good for the game in the end. At the same time I think FD now really needs to do something with PvP - adding consensual PvP activities as a start.

Spot on.
Will rep when I get home.
(they need to fix this on phones)

Ah, but if we were playing by historical accuracy, you'd be in for the long drop and a short stop in thousands of system.

"I've got the death sentence on 12 systems"
latest

And you wouldn't be seen LY from any kind of organised system such as Lave.

Sadly, that part of the historically accurate is totally missing from the game and you do nothing to replicate THAT little accuracy. ;)

And if anyone has the right to be a pirate around here, it's me! Thanks Ancestors!!! Aye-Aye.

Thanks for the info :)

Any Pirates want to be friends with an apprentice bounty hunter? :D

If so send me a friends request (In game name is the same as here) and maybe let me know how much you're bounty is worth!
Always good to know how much profit can be made!

P.S. No laughing when I lower my landing gear instead of my pew pew things...
and try not to move about when I do find the trigger!

Sure thing mate. I actually have quite a few "enemies" on my friends list! As for the bounty... sigh. My one gripe with the way that works is that it is so underwhelming. I get a paltry bounty that goes away in a few hours. Nobody chases me. Nobody cares.

Not sure I agree with this idea. The whole purpose of PVP in this game is that it is not supported by the devs design. It is allowed. Do not confuse the two. It just is not supported. Anyone that PVP's, either as a predator or prey, incurs costs, not rewards. Bounty hunting is not rewarding for PC killing, because even if you are in the same system, there is no guarantee that you could find the person with the bounty, just because of instancing and/or mode hopping.

So now, with Horizons, there will be a dilution of players out of space...just for material collection...once you add the crafting into the mix...this will increase. How will the PVP people respond to this? This is a huge game changer to those desiring 'interaction', and a huge boon for those trying to avoid it.

With players who don't want hostile interaction it will probably get easier to avoid such interactions. Giving PvP players in-game reasons to PvP and by making the rewards for those activities interesting enough that they lose interest in non consensual PvP it would give every play-style it's place in the galaxy.

These activities would have to be opt-in and not directly connected to any PvE activity in this game. They would require direct PvP against other CMDRs who actively decided to join that gameplay part - as a result no problems with Mode switching and no problems with unwanted PvP.

Maybe a bit like a PvP mode inside Open Mode based on missions and special factions. Adding a robust justice system and I think a lot of player would be happy.

.... a bit like CQC?

By that I mean that PvP within the game itself is not a discrete part of the game, rather an opportunity based occurrence and not a requirement of the game. CQC has been added to the game to give players who wish to partake of guaranteed PvP a no-NPCs-involved combat experience.

A bit like that. Maybe like a CQC and Power Play mix up - only that it happens in Open Mode (and private Mode), uses the standard space ships and could be based on the minor-factions (without affecting the PvE BGS).

Just some ideas. Don't expect me to come up with a bulletproof concept or implementation.

The possibility for such play is already there - it just takes PvP oriented players to organise it among themselves.

With respect to affecting the BGS, there is only one shared galaxy state - what you seem to be proposing is a separate one just for PvP players.
