"There will ALWAYS be victims for us to make our content and enjoy entirely at the expense of their gaming pleasure."

This is exactly the type of perspective that drives people out of open.

No other arguments are needed. I'm sorry, open-only folks, but this type of player is exactly why people leave open & go into solo/group. All other arguments are moot. This is what many see in their first times in E: D and what many people react against.

To fix this, police your own ranks. Or don't *shrug* because your arguments about "why open is not a cesspit" fail against this.

I really wish that when you have a player on your ignored list you didn't have to see their inane replies to others as well. Perhaps just a box with a message like This Reply is From a Player on Your Ignore List.

+rep and agreed.

Almost makes me wish for a skin of colorful ponies, teddy bears, and singing flowers for my Sidewinder.

And lasers that fire rainbows and sound like giggles.

(And I swear, if I had that, I would use it for PvP :p )

Oh, when we can mod...

No man, no. Special referring to the freaking tweaks to the game code that would invalidate damage from other players. In all ways, no.

Oh my god dude, seriously? Special needs isn't referring to PEOPLE. The whole world isn't PC.

Special needs in reference to wanting your own game mode. I.E. you have special needs. Special needs to not be attacked. You people are freaking sharks.

Later fellas. Obviously nobody here is interested in discussing anything that opposes their opinion without turning your opponent into a terrible person who makes comments about kids and eats entire busloads full of nuns on their way to cure cancer.

Good luck in your quest. If by some miracle I see you in space, I hope you are carrying some good stuff for me.

Fly safe. o7

Your own words did that not any design by those who feel differently than you..

You know.. going. "Wow.. yeah I see where I kinda screwed up I'm sorry, let me change that as it wasn't what I meant." would have probably forestalled a lot of comments.. instead you deride us as PC and claim we are not into discussing things of opposing opinions..

so again.. everything you reaped.. you sowed.. and instead of discussing things you felt it was more important to get your digs in and then act like you are the victim.

... but I was not in a hurry. I'm playing a game to relax and have some fun. Some may find this "space trucking" in solo boring, I found it enjoyable - and jumping from system to system and detail scanning any celestial body my scanner detects when honking is much to my liking as well. I don't want to be better than anyone else (how is being good at playing Elite defined, anyway?), I don't have to achieve anything - I just want to build my little castles in the sand.

This is what I find enjoyable about the game. Exploring, trading, flying ships... I like E: D particularly because I can play it this way. If it would have come out as a "standard MMO" with non-consentual PVP, I would have passed on it.

As far as trading "messing with the BGS," I have a small trade pocket like yours. I don't mind the flying back and forth; I watch the stars, I ruminate on the universe & enjoy making a perfect 3-point landing in my Anaconda. The commodity price fluctuates up and down but never more than 100cr or so, no matter how much traffic (or other traders) are in the system. Unless it's a CG station where everyone is trying to buy or sell but that is the exception.

Not sure you understand that if several people find your posts laced with combative and personal insults and dramatic hyperbole [see above] there's probably a reason why they do. Maybe you should look at that, with the above quotes as example. It doesn't help your position any & your points are lost.

Ha, you should see the thread about SRV fuel. One guy in there was posting his one point over and over again. At least this is dynamic.

As a concession, would you say at least that there is not enough warning for players entering Open mode that it's possible that some psycho could jump in and empty their load of torpedoes on them without warning...?

I still think what people are complaining about is primarily a lack of in game policing. Seriously, it's a big universe. How hard is it to create safe neighbourhoods for traders/miners and desperate demilitarised zones for psychos and pvp fanatics?

I fell that's what the high security and anarchy systems were supposed to be about, but somehow it hasn't quite worked out that way yet. policing Needs a buff. That's all it is.

If you want to go back to the start, it was the PvP'ers who were complaining - about lack of targets and people having the ability to mode switch.
All the PvE'ers are doing is providing a counter point of view.

Perhaps if the PvP'ers would stop demanding others be their unwilling content, and asked for improvements to the game that helped everyone not just themselves we might get somewhere.

Just so you can see for yourself, have a scan of those and you will see how often people have tried to get Solo / Groups removed or locked

So I have managed to push people in to Solo mode on this forum as well?

That is pretty amazing.

The Voice of Open

I have your back bro. :)

The vitriol and hatred from those who dislike pvp is quite shocking I find.. I hear the point, some don't enjoy pvp, but I keep saying this and it keeps falling on deaf ears. Exactly how many times have those who feel so strongly about this issue, and who've played in the 'dreaded open' actually had their game ruined? How many times have their ships been layed to waste? 400 BILLION SYSTEMS! For the love of god.

I've been playing this game since the beginning and even though I partake in some player combat now and again - its an extremely rare thing to come across outside cg areas and particular areas that are hub like.

My point is that I think we have entered into the zone of drama queens. Okay, I get it some don't like pvp.. but isn't it a tad on the hysterical side that the 0.001% chance it finds you that the world is about to end? Get real guys and stop trying to split the playerbase - thats not good for the game.

Given this situation I simply can't respect PvE fanatics, its borderline insanity.
