They talk about challenge and how when they beat on helpless opponents "that's the way it is"

You know, that whole "Darwinian mode" thing is a fallacious argument; what Darwin wrote in 'Evolution Of The Species' has been misinterpreted for a long time by armchair (and some real) scientists. If you are current with the literature in the field, you'd see many more people coming around to this view of Darwin's writings.

It's like that whole "lone wolf" thing that has been impressed upon us as a cultural myth. Wolves are pack animals. If a wolf is "lone," he's either old and dying, rabid or unable to take the pack Alpha male. Solitary wolves die pretty fast. Our entire overview of the wolf has changed immensely in the last 30-40 years.

A lone wolf is a dead wolf walking.

Some of these PvP guy strike me as a chest-thumping "Look at me I'm bassass" types (not all, I said some. I don't paint with broad strokes)

But the moment a solo player like me has a way to circumvent them, they talk about "how unfair it is".

Look, YOU chose the "tougher mode". Now man up and prove you're badass by succeeding despite the challenge and leave the rest of us filthy casuals alone to derp around in solo/private play. We won't challenge your right to call yourself badass, trust me. We might even cheer you on.

LMFAO, this really made me laugh. +1 for you mate.

Just one more simple fact, lol. There is no such thing as a video game bad ass. Video games by their name, are the opposite of "Bad Ass". It's a video game, virtually harmless by all decree.

Now if your a successful WFC fighting champion, now they're are actual pretty serious bad asses there. As Jose Conseco found out early on, when he was thoroughly stomped by a noodley little bad ass that knew how to fight. I guess being big and strong with a bad attitude, and able to hit base balls, doesn't mean ya can fight, lol. Now that's some pretty serious PVP action.

But video games. Naaaa

That's so unfair. Street Fighter blisters were nasty. ;)

Absolutely. Given enough supplies I can happily go a week without encountering another person in real life. Probably longer, but it gets less practical.

You and me, brother. 30 days in the San Bernadino hills, the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Coast Trail from Oregon to Mexico or the volcanos of the Hawai'ian Islands. And we won't even have to look at each other the whole way! :D

Yeah, right on. If it doesn't rain I might go to a field somewhere... *sulks*

*sigh* The Green. Lucky guy!

I would love to have gotten a pilots license..E: D is as close to flying as I will get.

Deleting this thread would be the smart thing, funny how it is solo ruins my game while co-op is immune.
Can we start a new thread? Open play is ruining my immersion and game breaking my solo play? LOL :)
J/K don't ban me again. :)

Not too far from you. Born in Ohio and here til mid-20s, then trapped in Los Angeles for several decades (work)

Escaped back to my green Ohio a few years ago. Loving it.

omg i am off-topic *bans self*

Honestly, this has got to be the most useless thread on the board, for no other reason than it's lack of adequate discussion regarding the highly anticipated 'THOLO' mode, complimenting the current SOLO, PRIVATE GROUP and OPEN modes, due to be released *soon*. That and well, yes, as said, just generally 455 pages of uselessness.

DB himself was the guy who told us it only uses a few KB an hr when playing over 3G on the train!. my machine passes to spec considerably but not all hotel wifi is so accommodating, neither is my wife when she is working from home and has to tunnel into work, a process which completely napalms my connection......

but a few kb an hr over 3G, i can cope with that.

I've used poor hotel wifi with only a few problems (i.e. 100s of other users all on at the same time), and 3G/4G tethering works fine. All solo mode play only though. I've not tested, but I think 4G may work OK for private group, perhaps even open, but I imagine you'd chew up your monthly bandwidth allowance pretty quickly.

dammit.. there is too much niceness and friendly banter appearing in this thread. Where is the rage god damn it? get back on it ;)

for what it is worth I believe much of this may come down to our base personality. Whilst it is true in the real world at work etc I am a fairly sociable person, I love and indeed need my own space, and this is one of the reasons i like gaming. I can escape in my own head space, and Elite, esp in VR is just ideal for this. (along with euro truck sim 2)

other people see gaming as a way to interact with people. The thing is, these 2 mentalities are a bit like oil and water ESP when it is our own enjoyment we are talking about and not a job.

a little segue, I do not do regrets, I try not to have any, but in every rule there is an exception and mine is not taking the opportunity to interview for the British antarctic survey. My lecturer at uni was involved in it Whilst I am not saying I would have gotten the job he did say he could get me an interview... He reckoned one of the biggest issues is finding people who have the right mentality for it, and I am 100% convinced I would have loved it!. hell, the thought of 2 weeks on my own with no one in say the Canadian Rockies excites the hell out of me.

I've been playing solo for the past 4 hrs on 3G+ and it has used about 50Mb
