I certainly don't.

You certainly don't... know a first thing about human behaviour.

I see no such requirement in Elite, and I don't even think they could engineer one in. Even if "Choose Your Side, Pilot!" was an enforced action - it would be trivially easy to disconnect all other players (who may or may not be on your side), leave that particular instance, and rejoin it to your satisfaction, and then let other players back in - again, to your satisfaction.

It's not a question of enforcing, as it is a question of people naturally siding with factions and forming social circles revolving around a common identifier. And yeah, you'll always have those who don't care or just don't want to side with anything. Which is great because diversity is great. Doesn't have anything to do with keeping the game balanced and fair for all players, regardless of their preferred mode of play.

Again, NO ONE forces you to play Open and by the way you seem to be avidly against 50% of the premise of Open(impending PvP) you really should just stick to Solo as well. How can you sit here and argue for equality in game modes when you seem to have a major issue with a large part of the gameplay tied to one of those modes? You would be just as well served arguing to FD for the removal of PvP from Open, or a "Kill the Bad Man" button for when someone "stops you from contributing"... Oh wait, I think they have that button: It's under Start -> Solo or Group.

Damn, problem solved.

TLDR; You are literally advocating for Open/Solo balance but the root of your argument stems from other players (the very POINT of Open play) interfering with you gameplay... *mind.... blown*

It's easy to blow a mind which doesn't bother to comprehend anything. Suffice to say that you *completely* missed my points, obviously haven't bothered to read anything I've said past the latest one or two posts and basically just made a fool out of yourself.

I just can't wrap my head around the hypocrisy of this statement. What would you say if you, or your Mobius fellows wanted to be top 5% in a goal and the only way to do that was to go play Open and PvP? Would you still be telling them to do it? Would you feel then that someone is trying to impose their view on you and how you should play?

Hogwash, if you want to affect the community event come in mobius or any other group if you feel open is stopping you from doing it effectively just follow the rules for mobius. TBH you all come across like you all are buttsore because you have no pve players which many not be as good or used to pvp as some of you in open that mostly just pvp to molest.

If at some point FD decides to make a pvp event like a top 50 or whatnot I doubt like hell the peeps in mobius will be all like aww damn boohooo, they will go play in open for the PVP event or more than likely think woohoo the pvpers will be happy and stop moaning about us finally!!!!

Then please explain it to me, because as far as I can see THIS is your problem...
... instances are not an issue. The fact that you can be far more effective without player interference in solo is.
So you are literally complaining that you can't be as effective in Open play, the mode designed solely to let you interact with everyone (regardless of their actions towards you). If you are so concerned about contributing, go into Solo mode where the bad people can't stop you. I'll say yet again, you seem to think because you are handicapped in Open that everyone else in Solo/Group should be handicapped as well even though you made an active choice to participate in an Open environment?

You seem to think this is some Open vs. Solo/Group war, when in reality as far as the game is concerned we are all working to the same goal. YOUR issue seems to be You vs. PvPers

Again with the molesting. We have plenty of PvP and PvE players, thanks. That's the point. Goal scoring is taking only PvE grinding into account. And you can grind best when you're either by yourself or safe in the knowledge that your fellow group members won't bother you and interrupt you. Thus, whichever side has most solo players will likely win.

And yeah thanks, but I won't be coming over to your PvE lala land because it's boring. I prefer to play my own mode. Hey, just like you! Fancy that.

You'd be singing a different tune if the shoe was on the other foot.

This is becoming funny on a Monthy Python level. I AM a PvPer!

My issue is that I LIKE playing in Open. I LIKE PvP and the fact that enemy commanders do drop by and interrupt and we have to duke it out etc. I also would like to know that we all have a chance to contribute to community goals evenly.

Which is not the case. The idea that I should go play solo in order to be of greatest use to my side is what I DON'T like.

Get it now?

Again hogwash your pulling numbers outa your behind with the concept that somehow because pve everyone is on the same side compared to pvp.

Enough with the subjective opinions though and here are some facts I dare you to refute them, when the solo game was junked there was a big big stink about it and people shouted out threats of lawyers and refund demands but many of the hardcore crowd were like wawawa stop crying wawawa......

..........facts is most solo players didn't want solo and open play connected and would have preferred open to be alone by itself with solo having the ability to do your own group FD in their prerogative decided otherwise so instead of coming here to cause drama and insult the peeps of mobius or solo group players in general how about you shut up and go moan at the right people FD themselves and lets see how long they put up with your not as subtle as you think personal attacks and mouthing off.

Oh btw more than 3/4 of my game time was spent in open play and guess what because of the way the game is coded and how it puts you in instances with peeps in your general physical location I think I saw maybe 3 commanders in my time there, I have seen many more in mobius and even ran into a few that like to pew pew pew you in the events when your crimson state and they choose feds.

You keep on singing life isn't fair lalala most of us don't really read this thread but your generally disrespectful, condescending tone filled with "subtle" personal attacks prompted me to respond against my better judgement.

W/e though you keep on keeping on just make sure you don't pull something.

Oh Meritz - that was kind of uncalled for. I code stuff for mainframes and develop hardware to precisely detect human behaviour. Random chance has it's place and is utterly unavoidable, but when people or their agency attempt fraud or exaggerate loss - that is precisely what I do for a living to detect. Most people are extremely bad liars, but they behave as if they are good. Even worse for them, they believe they are good - which is what fouls them up in the first place.

It's the exact same with guilds. You have bad players hanging on to good players, they want to be successful by association or proxy, they want to intimidate by reputation, and they want to engage easy mode via guild-tag. There is simply no need for any of that. Someone is either a good or bad player. There is no need for guilds or corps or factions or anything else, there is simply a need for players to play the way they please, and for other players to do the exact same thing without some other players annoying them. It's not rocket science :)

The more and more the hardcore PvErs open their mouth, the more convinced they're being willfully obtuse.

They know we soloists have the advantage and just don't care. Yet, they'd be the same ones to call foul if PvPrs jumped on them 3 on 1.

I'm starting to regret I ever supported these chuckleheads.

What's wrong with you guys? Why can't you accept the Open players getting a difficulty multiplier to reflect how much harder they have to work? Are you just so bloody butthurt that you were chased out of open by the big bad griefer that you are being passive aggressive and obtuse over fairness to get back at them? Are you harvesting your own version of tears from the PvPrs?

I was arguing with Meritz and his ilk a few pages back - but it's getting harder and harder to be on your guys side with all the outright hypocrisy that's becoming so painfully obvious, it wonders your own noses haven't fallen off from the stench of it.

I just can't wrap my head around the hypocrisy of this statement. Would you feel then that someone is trying to impose their view on you and how you should play?

What hypocrisy? If the only way to get in the top 5% in a goal was to go Open and PvP, then clearly that goal would be to kill as many players as possible. And of course, the only way to do that would be in Open or at least in a non-PvE group. So yeah, if I wanted to make the top 5 in that goal, I would do it in Open or in a non-PvE group and I would expect others to do the same. But I wouldn't say that PvE groups should no longer exist because a given goal is based on PvP, and I would certainly not try to force everybody (including those who don't have any interest in that goal) to go in Open and PvP. Again, to each their own.

That made me giggle lots. Open players have to work less for the same results, as they have wings and other easymode safety blankets to comfort them :D

Determined Open players also have the whole P2P architecture working for them, they can lulzban everyone else, and keep their little (or big) group happily occupied in wings - with absolutely no danger of encountering anyone else who may dent their ego.

BUT NOBODY IS FORCING YOU TO GO OPEN

They just want the rewards to reflect the additional risk of dealing with player gank squads. Why on earth is that such a flippin sin? Why are you folks so opposed to this? Are you so OCD that you fear a mere 30 percent increase in rewards will put a gun to your head and force you to play their way?

, increase it to 50 percent - I'll stay solo. But I guess you guys just don't have that sort of self-control....

But I guess you guys just don't have that sort of self-control....

Most peeps have the sort of self-control to lulzban each and every IP that isn't on their friends list :) Some will block entire ranges. Some will have a bit more fun with you and multihome - and that can end up extremely messy lol

And this is a bunch of overblown hyperbole. You are assuming that most of them even have the knowledge to do that. Let me clue you in on something as somebody who works support - most computer users are clueless.

So knock it off with your passive aggressive balony

I never said that I was opposed to that! And if someone from our group did, I missed it. I even said somewhere else that I was personally in favor of two separate galaxies, one PvP and one PvE, as it would be interesting to compare the evolution of both (even though I'm not expecting that to ever happen). But I gathered from many comments here that some people are against the very idea of solo, private groups, and PvE. It's that diversity I'm defending.

Given that similar goodies have already been given exclusively to open players (see entry at Race to Elite) without a peep from the other two modes, you don't have a leg to stand on. Solo and Group players were excluded from the race, yet even told one another that if they wanted a shot at the brass ring to go play open. For all the whining about solo and groups, not a word has been mentioned that the ONLY exclusive content was given to open players.

one PvP and one PvE

I wish people would stop talking about PvP and PvE as if they're mutually exclusive. There is not a PvE mode and a PvP mode. Open play offers both PvE and PvP. Solo/private PvE group players are shutting themselves off from one aspect of the game while open players are doing no such thing. That's why we prefer open play. Most people in open play aren't just flying around looking for other commanders to kill and there's plenty of PvE. I play exclusively in open play and have had exactly 1 PvP encounter that I initiated against a wanted player with a large bounty (and promptly fled when I realized I was outclassed). Every other player interaction I've had has been perfectly friendly. Other than that one encounter so far all I've done is fly around with my wing doing PvE. If there were more people in open play my wingman and I would both love to provide armed escort for miners and traders and just generally defend people against aggressors (be they players or npcs). Seeing more players in general would make the galaxy feel more alive and the interactions that would emerge, both friendly and confrontational, would make us feel like we were actually having an impact on the universe. I understand that your group has it's preferred way of playing and we have ours (which I honestly don't believe are as different as you might think), but it really sucks that there are literally thousands of players that I have absolutely zero chance of ever meeting in-game because they don't want to deal with even the possibility of having conflict with other players outside of conflict zones.

isnt on their favour thats why ;p

It's the opposite. As the game is designed, it is the solo players who are treated as something special. But I'm not surprised that you cannot see it, this kind of hypocrisy seems to be firmly embedded in the kind of passive-aggressive PvE mindset many here share.

We're not out to get you. We don't care how you play. All we want is equal opportunity to affect community goals, and the game right now favours solo/private PvE groups heavily in that regard. That's not fair, and that's what I'm arguing about.

oh how sad you feel so that way, but seriously, if you think you deserve a better treatment just because your are in open play sorry but you dont, and to say the true since open play is the hard difficult setting of this game and you cant keep up with it, then get better or change the game mode you play in it.

Thats why the importance of choice, people just dont want to be bother by pvpers trying to make problems, you just whining because you think you deserve special treatment and you dont period.

You keep whining that comunity goals are difficult to archive in open play, well it is supose to be difficult, you dont like that stop playing that game mode and stop whining.

First is this then it will be why the different stances thats unfair everyone must be in the same instance in community goals, then will be why blocking a player feature no way remove that ! because if a player block players that are in the other side of the community goal he will go all hidden and unmolested and he will go thier bussines without the danger of other players attacking them, oh thats unfair !!!

Just play the game the way it is, im sure a lot of people the last thing they want are others trying to hunt them down just for the fun of of the easy targets.

Be happy that you have only pvpers in your game mode at least they wont make things for you easier which i think should be part of the fun.

Nah they dont deserve anything extra, that risk is part of the "FUN" in the open play, or im wrong?

Being very difficult to archive anything should be part of the reason you play that, and being able to change things in that enviroment should be its own reward.

You choose to get in that mess and no one is forcing you to neither or telling you please go to open play, is your choice, your problem.

Your reward is the satisfaction of being able to accomplish something there. Nothing else.
