That could hurt FD in 1 way and 1 way only - after removing all that choice of "Play your way" by locking content to Open only, all the annoyed players leave and spend no more money.

Tell me, how deep is your wallet? Can you make up for lots of people who were promised "Play your way" leaving when the promise is broken?

Bring me one argument that Solo players would have to leave the game- gameplay-wise. Not other nonsense. I come with gameplay facts. People go to solo to grind the CG. People also hide in solo to grind big bounties to sell for €£¥$. All i want is for CG's to be Open only so that if i fight a war, i can actually fight against my opponents, not against virtual holograms of nothingness.

Also the game is 60$ . Thats it. No more money after. Those people who would leave(even tho they dont have a reason to) would have already spent money.
Alos new players would come to the game if guilds and more focua on Open is made

The three modes and group switching were there from the beginning of the Kickstarter, not as a result of backer pressure.

I played the original and backed from the very start of the KS - I play mostly in Open but do not see any compelling reason to restrict the choices of some players to satisfy the play-style needs of other players - to do so would say to the player base that one type of player is more valuable to Frontier than others.
no one mentioned backer pressure. not sure why you bring that up, mr. moderator

saying that you see no compelling reason to restrict the choices of some players is like saying that influencing open play activities from solo mode doesn't work at all, which is IMO a good thing but at the same time it's not what frontier had in mind when they designed the game so that all players are equally valuable.

also not having a ''true'' solo mode, which could be played without an internet connection is the worse thing about this game IMO

So cheating the system by hiding in Solo with Billions of bounty and grinding Solo 24/7 is not something FD consider. Is that what they want this game to become. A Solo grindfest. If that is it, it just makes me sad for all the possibklities this game could have...

It's not just about how a particular player feels though - we have all been told to "play how you want to" not "play how others demand we play".

Actually, you can spend more money in the ED Store, and I didn't say "have to leave" - I said would leave (through choice).

You want facts, read the thread - all you need to know is in this thread.
People who CANNOT use Open, would not be able to play content locked in Open - you want to refund them all their money, as you want to take content away from them and remove "Play your way"

FD are aware of cheating and are taking steps to deal with it. How players choose to play the game is up to them - that's the important bit - it's "up to them", not "up to others".

That's entirely your opinion. Once upon a time all games were single player, things changed and now it's expected for just about every game to have some online/multiplayer aspect no matter how hard it has to be shoe-horned in. Things will change again. MMOs won't be replaced, of course not every MMO will have a mode system like Elite, but maybe more and more will and people will get used to that extra choice and buy games accordingly. It'll probably become a new genre of game, MMM, Multi-Mode Multiplayer. Or something.

Nah. This generation was born with MP. We love Mp cuz the first game we loaded was actually MP. You were probably born with SP.

This is exactly what you are doing by playing in open : you fight again open players. Meanwhile solo players, on your side, outgrind solo players of the other side.

Than as i said this just makes me sad. The fact that i can not recommend this game to friends who dont have it is very sad. I just cant. I know they will get bored of it very soon. I play this because i just love space, and since my alternatives are crappy looking games i play this one. But yeah this game would be so much fun with some additions it just makes me sad. Maybe it makes other happy but not me(and many other too i am sure)

Newflash, you speak for YOU and no one else.

How entitled do you think you are, that you can speak for a generation.
For start, you have no idea how old anyone in this thread is. Secondly, I know people of all age groups who don't like multiplayer games and I currently know an 11 year old who thinks people who play online games are sad and pathetic basement dwellers like the one portrayed in South Park.

So want to check that attitude.

Why would their enjoyment of the game rely on restricting the choices of other players?

idk maybe the sales for cod and all the multiplayer games say something ? Also the general request for multiplayer in Skyrim and Dont Starve and games that dont have it nowadays...??

I like the system as it is. I only play in open but I do not mind players playing solo, no matter if there actions affect me in some way or not. The beauty of this game is that you can play it as you like and your not forced to play it in a way you don't want too.

Bcs i know them and they like to crush the opposition. Hence why they play Dota Lol CSGO and every other game where you can do that. They also like Starcitizen and some bought it, but i feel like if i recommend them this game, when they realise most of the playerbase is in Solo they will be sorry for their purchase and will probably blame it on me :D

Tbh loads of people here have made loads of creds in Solo mainly as npcs are as smart as a bag of hammers, then drop to open with battleships. I for one have made loads more cred in solo mainly as npcs don't fragsteal.

I can see pilots buying expensive cargos then dropping to solo to ship and sell so they don't get interdicted by players.

Until FDEV do something about mode swapping it will always be a valid option to avoid heat from players.

Really, it's nothing to do with mode swapping. You're simply pointing out the human nature of some of the pro PvP players. Perhaps you're hoping that if they weren't allowed to switch modes they would all stay in open in Sidewinders and Vipers, but it seems as though they want / need bigger ships to be able to 'enjoy' PvP, so there's every likelihood they would either stay in solo, or more likely just leave the game.

I suspect that most solo / group players never go into open, because they don't want to, and most mode swapping there goes on between solo and groups that the player enjoys playing in. I can only speak for myself, but I have a number of ships, including a Vulture, and still I have no desire to 'pop into open' so I can destroy real CMDRs and ruin someone's day. :)

Community Goals means its a goal for the whole community.

Nothing in these words says its about people needing to shoot at each other, its about working torwards the same goal together even if you play in diffrent modes. Its a very beautiful concept of bringing people of all modes together, it kinda baffels me how some people only see "need to shoot people" when looking at CGs.

And really, I wish people would stop using the naming of the thing to say it should be open only. Like it or not, people from all modes and people who switch modes all the Time are all equally a part of the community, excluding part of the community from the community goals would really be against the Name.
You may think or wish or whatever that open is its own little community, but its not.
