P2P not P2p - please read properly.

And some information from Chris Roberts himself;

Hmmm... I've heard of something like that before...

And;

Wait a minute, I know I've read that before;

From the Kickstarter;
*And the best part - you can do all this online with your friends, or other "Elite" pilots like yourself, or even alone. The choice is yours...*
*you will be able to control who else you might encounter in your game – perhaps limit it to just your friends? Cooperate on adventures or chase your friends down to get that booty. The game will work in a seamless, lobby-less way, with the ability to rendezvous with friends

And;

From the forum archives;
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6300

All Players Group– Players in this group will be matched with each other as much as possible to ensure as many human players can meet and play together
Private Group – Players in this group will only be matched with other players in the same private group
Solo Group – Players in this group won’t be matched with anyone else ever (effectively a private group with no one else invited)
(All by a Lead Designer)

Will you please not "appeal to authority" I think they call it, how very dare you quote the developers, in my culture that would be considered rude ;)

I really think you overstepped the mark by quoting Chris Roberts regarding SC though, you have already dashed so many uninformed dreams with your factual quotes regarding ED, to explain SC too, might not be what they want, after they already bought it with little or no research, well that's just cruel sir, I bid you good day :)

Fine you guys win !! I will stop trying to change this game. I guess im just gonna play little bits of it so i dont get bored. I still want this to be so much more but my saying is just a drop in a pond :(

Someone saying this must definitly be a premier in this hughe mega thread, you have my respect for that ;)

Possibly in this thread, I do remember threads long before where the OP explained their great new idea, when it was explained back to them in the context of how the game actually works, and how their suggestion would actually have the opposite effect they did a 180 quicker than I could do with flight assist off.

I do agree it is rare, and he also has my respect too, I will +1 as soon as I hit post.

nedeaalex o7, nobody won anything, like ED its not a competition, I hope you continue to play ED for as long as I will, and I am intending to for many years, its been a long discussion and I do understand that the game does not meet your expectations in some ways. Rather than my copy & paste "some people did not research the game before buying, that's a problem with the buyer not the game" answer I will say this as I think you deserve a more personal answer.

Even if you play it less I honestly hope you do keep playing, you already bought it, its not subs based, you do not have to spend another penny on the game, the game will continue to improve. I hope some of the future development of the game (even though I doubt it will be the exact stuff you want right now) will appeal to you and maybe make you want to spend more time in ED.

Fly safe CMDR

My deepest apologies, you are of course absolutely correct - A man should only ever use Developer information, quotes, game facts and evidence in 1 game at a time - that was very greedy and rude of me to swipe at 2 gaming demographics in one go.

I shall restrain myself to engaging just the Elite: Dangerous community and leave the fans of Stolen Concepts, to figure the truth out themselves ;)

Once again, what happens to my freedom of choice? Not everyone wants to limit themselves to only one Mode, many players switch between them depending on mood or situation.

You're still perfectly free to switch modes. But since the modes aren't equal what you do in one stays in that mode. Essentially your stats / saves will be isolated.

Open mode requires this to effectively leverage many inter-player game roles. It requires it so much so that I dont think it's if FD goes this route, but when.

As the whole game was built by FD around the concept of Mode Switching, as proven time and time again - there is no "when".

It's not going to happen, no matter how loud the few of you are - you're out voiced.

Now imagine the whole Mobius group entering open for the sole purpose to "blockade" some trading CGs so they aren't even doable anymore in open ;)

Elite will be so much more. Maybe not what you are specifically are asking for. But that's good. Just enjoy the ride.

Are you not looking forward to 1.3?

Oh you bet I am! Just a little confused in who i should be supporting :D

If you work it out let me know, I'm allied to the feds (I started there so BB's etc made some of the progress happen), the alliance & empire are friendly due to trading & handing in bounty's in their systems.

Now, there is no way I will join the Imperials (even though DBOBE posed with their mug!, I think I need to write him an open letter starting with the word So), they look funny with their silly wigs & smell bad, dirty slavers, but even though the Feds like me the best, I still feel like I should backing the alliance, I also like the independents but I doubt they could do much more than offer me a bed for the night in the grand scheme of the galaxy (sorry independent CMDR's, feel free to correct me, I have not made up my mind yet, you may yet win my allegiance).

1.3 adding powers too, its going to be interesting, as I tend to do I guess I will do a bit of reading on this forum about it before I make a decision, its certainly going to add another layer to the game, the fact that its not compulsory is also great with PP, play / don't play / decide next month, just like solo/groups/open you have the choice.

Hehe, would be pretty meaningless with all that instancing. Besides, we are pretty content with the group as it is, 1.3 might also bring a tad more PVP i guess - at least meaningfull PVP with some story behind it. Haven't checked the forums over there yet, but i guess it will be handled like warzones.

Nobody is getting rid of mode switching. I think what ive stated is a natural progression that FD will take to allow the fully dynamic sandbox they want. The "achieving your goal" via switching to a easier mode at will circumvents and undermines the role of players in the game. It'll only become more and more important to remove this behavior as FD increases the player's involvement and role within the game and the more immersive they intend to make it.

Just in case solo/group getting "nerfed" someday... as a last resort to protest ;)

Regarding instancing... if The Code can shy away so many people... guess what 8k pilots could do.
Would be hard to find an instance whithout being interdicted. As a plus, the PvP crowd getting less traders to shoot at.

u can put in that the solo angry ppl too lol if we/they dont choose to move to other game ;)

now that was mean ;)

You are correct sir, we are all friends now (or at least have a proper ceasefire) and I will refrain from using that quote again, well I will try but I quite like it so I can't say never :).

I am sill catching up, I will take my own advice & read a bit more before I post again, speak to you soon.

Sir, Again you miss my point, please pick up your straw man and remove it from this argument :), it was not about the two games it was about uninformed hopes and dreams that you seem to enjoy dashing and why you are a bad man for doing that (had to add an ad hominem, be rude not to), Will you please address my point!.

I was appealing you to as a fellow human not to do this, using "Developer information, quotes, game facts and evidence" is clearly ridiculous in the internet age, I don't know where you finding this rubbish, until it is freely available for everyone to access you are misusing it for your own purposes, please stop, I won't call you a cheat for doing it but its clearly not fair. :D

I agree, as your sig shows Mobius hit 8k players and the open/group/solo thread has how many disagreeing with the status quo?

Was it 6 or 7 I lost track, I think it got to 11 at one point, it was crazy back then, Oh well out of ~ 500k sales that's not too bad I guess.

Now imagine the whole Mobius group taking offence to the Code infiltrating and ganking pve only players in their group, lets imagine there is a place close by where you can get bounties to help restore the lave cluster back to its natural state, 8k annoyed players all in a private group working against them just to prove a point.
