Looks like it's not fixed at all.
The Clipper boost sound has gone forever.
I just tried a quick undocking, boosting out, landing again.
They fixed something about the landing gear and landing pad, but the 1.07 quality is still missing.

SO SAD ABOUT THIS.

And I stay docked again tonight... very sad. The notes didn't make me feel they found what the real problem was yet.

When trying to read between the lines the audio mix in the new patch seems to be made for owners of decent (read as 'very good') headphones. The docking pad lift noise is one of the major improvements for me. I LOVE it! :) And the "missing punch" from leaving hyperspace was something that almost was killing me before. Because of that and because it's not separately adjustable I had to turn down the volume before much more than I otherwise would have. Big improvement in my ears! :D
If I want to gather an inkling of what you're all talking about I'd had to switch back to my (also not quite shabby) studio loudspeakers. There are worlds between them and my headphones.

A possible solution for all could be in two separate mixes for loudspeakers and headphones, switchable via option menu.

When you are using a Buttkicker it's not about any one persons ears, it's the lack of any vibration from the Buttkicker device since the patch rendering the device next to useless.

Yeah the bass is completely gone. Like it was wiped out of the game or something. I'm not talking about just on subwoofers, on really nice headphones, too.

hi :)

yes i noticed a few changes in the dynamics, engine noise seems to react a bit more as you said.
with regards to bass i have rme digicheck open with a spectral scope and i can see activity going down to 25-31.5hz at times!!!

i will investigate further but there sure is bass!

Update 1.1.03 incoming

- Fix missing lift audio
- Fix bass in supercruise issue
- Fix repeating docking computer alert audio
- Fix very quiet landing gear audio
- Fix exploration music cutting out unexpectedly and playing a new piece of music immediately after

ahh some fixes for ya all :)

Bass in the letterbox is gone too. It used to be a pleasing deep rumble as you passed through that practically gave me wood every time. (I know, graphic, but, well, it was that good)

Hi everyone.

Thanks so much for all the tickets, video/audio clips, and private messages. It is very helpful, please keep them coming. :)

Unfortunately I am struggling to keep up with the sheer volume of replies to this thread, so if posting videos and ticket numbers, please don’t forget to PM them to me as well, and that way I will definitely see it (even if I don’t reply), and can keep track of them too.

Please read my original reply ^^^ if you haven’t already.

Thanks once again for the feedback and for caring so much about the audio. :)

I find it strange that some people's experience has been drastically hampered, while others... have GREATly improved?

I myself am running stereo headphones, split to a 500 watt powered sub. My Senheizer headphones + sub stereo mix sounds INCREDIBLE in 1.1.02... I wonder if the issue is stereo mix vrs 5.1 mix? I wonder if some people are just missing channels? For example, one person here says there multi-cannons barely make any sound now.. but in MY viper, my multi-cannons are 20% louder, more LFE, and they now shake my office.

I can confirm though, with even my vastly improved audio experience, the following two issues.

1. Overall volume has been reduced. I used to play with my windows volume slider around 70%, now at 100%
2. Sounds descending into and ascending out of the docking bay are almost totally missing. No rumble, no shakes, no creeks, nada... almost whisper quiet

Gave it a short try in my Asp and the sound while browsing the side panel options and other menus are still numb and some kind of distortion. It feels like the sound originates from a distance far away and not from a display right in front of you. Its a bit too sharp for my liking.

Elevator might have changed, you can hear the ship sliding onto the lift pad, still not the punch it used to have.

Didnt notice a change in thrusters, while backing off throttle they used to become very apparent on the Asp, slowing the ship down but its still like 1.1.
Docking and landing gear might be heard better but im still not a fan of the changes, if I had the option to run pre 1.1 sound I would do it right away.

Bit frustrating to sit and try to describe what is wrong when I really want how it was pre 1.1 ie more bass, less sharp/high pitched menus, basicly softer high end and better low grunt. Im on stereo headphones and Titanium HD card and havent touched any of those settings. Its not a few specific sounds I dont like, it seems everything changed from wngines to background radio chatter while sitting in the hangar and to me many of sounds seems sharp compared to before.

I liked the older elevator sounds. The ones that really made it sound like you had a several hundred-tonne ship on top of metal slab on rails. I'm a bit sad to see that sound gone.
I also agree about sounds in general being ''washed out''.
Also, a big thing: Impact sounds, I can barely hear when I get hit!

Can you help post specific detail on your setup: what sound hardware, what speakers are being used, what Windows or sound card app settings, and what game settings? This would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Bass in the letterbox is now on-par with the other bass levels around the game. The levels in the letter box used to be WAY WAY outside normal range compared to all other sounds in the game, i.e. ship exploding right on top of you... Now, it sound far far more balanced. Still shakes my room, but I no longer have to alt-tab to turn down my volume before I enter a space station, and then alt-tab again after I get in, to turn it back up.

Im going to be staying docked again by the look of it, my menu sound is still , also forgot to add the beeping sound when lining up on landing pads is also faulty, same horrible aftersound all hissy and distorted.

Exactly.

Cpt. America, I'm using some very good in-ear Sennheiser attached to an ampli that receives optical signal from the PC. They used to sound amazing and still do. That's probably why I can hear sounds that I dislike atm. Way worse than 1.07.

I already did, a couple times, but here they are again

Audio card - HT OMEGA FENIX 7.1 (but I run only the stereo out) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829271008
Stereo stage - 598 HD Sennheiser headphones
Stereo stage - same output split running audio out to a HT elemental designs 500 watt 12" ported subwoofer
Haven't touched audio settings in game, or even in windows. Running zero effects, flat, level, raw audio out via the single 3.5mm front/stereo output on the audio card.

Audio is FLAWLESS now, except for the missing sounds going into and out of the docking bay, and maybe missing sounds from landing gear. EVerything else is more balanced, chunkier, better low end (multi cannons ROCK now.), smoother transitions, cleaner signal, etc.

When I tried the 1.1 beta I found the sound to be worse than before, but thought this would be fixed by release. Sadly it doesn't seem to be the case. I especially noticed the UI panels sounding lower quality than they used to. And I didn t play long enough to decide if I liked the supercruise sound being almost muted when flying at lowest speed.

FD... really, what happened? :)
Why all this distortion? Why clipping the effects on the... Clipper(!) boost? They were amazing, I could hear that turbo remote effect right *behind* me. Now it's gone completely and it sounds more like this (Beta 3.0) - 1:10m

The thing that get's to me is these guy's had nailed it in the original mix, constant praise on these forums. I would have people come round and demo the rift, they would constantly comment on how awesome it sounds and feels with a decent surround system.

They could have been working on sounds for new ships, so many other things to enhance the game. Why start tweaking/changeing things that worked so well? imagine the guy's at GTA or Forza suddenly changing the mixing or car sounds. This is supposed to be the released product, yet they are changing a core part of the game.

Anyway apologies, I hate ranting. I'm done here

I must confess, I haven't really focused on the sound, but I can say that there was a great plethora of users who were not satisfied with the way the sound was previously, and they were extremely vocal about it. I assume that you might be correct, and I'm not referring to that; I'm just pointing out that there might have been constant praise in the threads you were in, but there were people who sounded very much like the British Isles were in danger of being invaded by pasty ED users.

That said, I'm a bit concerned that the sound is poor, since I don't have 48kHz sound cards. I use commercial grade sound cards that pick apart anything that is not to mastering spec.

Thanks for the warning!

So there has possibly been a slight improvement in the in-station sounds (like the lift) for me in patch 1.1.03, but I'm still experiencing almost all of the issues from 1.1.02 - i.e. muffled sounds, post hyperspace music cutting out abruptly after 2 seconds, inaudible engines in supercruise and weird echos/muffled supercruise music.

It might shake your room with a sub but with pure headphones it doesn't do that at all. There is no more oomph. No more ear pleasing pressure and rumble. It's completely gone. So leaving it as is right now isn't a solution, either. Perhaps bring the bass back to what it was for headphone users under a "headphone" option in the game settings.

Two things I used to love with my cans on: Letterbox and ships popping. It felt soooooo good. FSD enter/exit also used to feel great.

Have to say the same, best way to describe the sounds now are "anaemic" ? Lack any punch from previous versions, and this new patch seems to have made them even quieter still. Really odd.

Of course it doesn't... those are headphones. The bass levels in game, WITH my sub... seem just about the same as they did before. Except some bass levels have pleasantly gone up, like cannons, ships popping, etc.... while the bass is a bit lower going through the mailbox. Far more balanced. But in average, I have not lost any bass over what I had before, with identical settings and identical hardware. Sub or no sub, the only thing missing from my experience, is landing gear, and asccending/descending from docking bay.

Are you running a 5.1 or 7.1? Or are you running stereo?
