they stole the V8 out of my Asp and replaced it with a supercharged 3 cylinder engine.... grrr....
I like the new sounds, it sounded a bit like 1942 before or some sort of nascar supercar. Now it is subtle , exloring the universe in an asp sounding like a spitfire was a bit too much. And driving a sleek python sounding like a JCB wasn't nice . Well done FD
This is a good point. I don't have much experience in how an Asp is/was supposed to sound like, but I wouldn't want a situation where the audio guys start to feel intimidated or reluctant to make alterations which, in their opinion, make the game experience better.
It's fine to have a preference for this or that sound/effect, but unless it's an actual bug, then realise you're only holding a preference, ie- not some inalienable right to demand the game is supposed to sound a certain way.
Its a bug not a preference. Even the devs have said as much. My buttkicker is obsolete due to these changes. The game released with excellent sound there was no need to mess with it. Particularly while there are so many other issues which should have taken priority, such as the dodgy, not working, broken beyond belief player to player comms. But no lets fix somthing that is not even broken. Pffffffttt. Such a joke.
Ok.Once again... can all the happy people feeling the sound is perfect and OK record and share a basic video of boosting, FSD charging, Supercruising and decelerating? Just 1 minute video. Let people understand if your sound is really ok or it's just your opinion/taste.
I personally have forwarded a video to the lead sound designer Joe Hogan and he said it's not meant to sound like that!
So please, if you want to come here saying "everything is fine", be constructive and post something people can hear and compare.
Thank you.
Smooth landing!Ok.
I don't know if I feel the sound is perfect but I don't think it is that much different apart from supercruise
and it is softer overall, unless you pick one of those compressed modes.
This is my sound with full dynamic range setting.
Cobra, station, undock, SC, boosting, re-dock. (I forgot to do a system jump, so no WitchSpace)

I really HEAR your pain;
This last patch has given us some fabulous graphic improvements but I was heartbroken to hear the new engine sounds for my Asp Explorer, it now reminds me of a 50cc moped from the 70s "pathetic". I can only assume that the sound had to be ruined to make processing space for other features, because its very hard to belief that any sound designer would actively choose the current sound over what we had before this patch.
An update from me: (I logged the sound issue with support from day 1 of the testing of 1.1)777Driver - when you started this thread, all my sounds were borked too. I'm only using onboard sound and a pair of HyperX headphones, all default setting s for the sound apart from turning the music off.
I'm hoping your are at least a bit better now - mine have all been resolved over the past couple of hotfix patches apart from one;
The exploration scanner charge-up sound drops the SC hum/buzz down to silent, then you get the completion foghorn and then the SC hum/buzz gets louder again.
I don't remember it being like that in 1.07.
Well Ekar!
I think that you might be missing a point here, the key parameter with this sound issue is all about how one identifies with their ship and the experience from the cockpit, a very substantial part of that immersion comes from the soundscape that is intergral to your ship and from the player perspective uniquely associated with their ship. That should not be a thing to be messed with lightly because it breaks player immersion very badly. Talk to any "petrol head" enthusiast about motorbike engine sounds and you very quickly realise that they have a visceral connection to the unique sound of any given bike engine, it is clear that the devs for ED want their ships to have that same quality so it is baffeling that they should wish to alter such an important characteristic of these vessles.
Welcome to the 1.1 sound issueMaybe its possible to change the sound back? The sound at 1.07 was better than this one.
Why they changed it anyway? "waaaawaaa, the sound is overpowered"?
Well Ekar!

The Clipper sound is NOT fixed. It's still bugged, although they rolled back, afaik, some of its sound effects. It's a general (encoding?) problem, not just individual sounds changed.I understand what you mean. I love the sound in the game and if I felt things were getting worse I would mention it. I think the problem is that there are so many posts in this thread along the lines of 'don't touch the sounds', 'things were perfect before', etc. That might be your opinion or my opinion, but it mightn't be the opinion of the guys who are actually designing the audio. Looking at the changelog for one of the recent hotfixes for eg we have something like 'Clipper sounds match more closely to the previous sounds'. That says to me that the devs probably have a different idea about what was sounding good for the Clipper, something they preferred and felt represented that ship better, but went back somewhat in a compromise to people who were complaining. If it was a bug that was fixed then the changelog would have read 'Clipper sounds fixed'.
For what it's worth, I've compared the Asp sounds pre and post 1.1. Personally I like the newer mix better- it's more subtle and sounds less overtly like an old prop plane, although that quality is still present. It sounds more appropriately like a spaceship. I like it more. I'd never gotten used to the old Asp sounds because I've never flown an Asp, but if I had to pick between the two, I would pick the post 1.1 sounds.
Getting used to something doesn't mean that it's 'perfect'. That's all I'm trying to say. It would be a shame if the community made it difficult for sound to evolve because there was a riot whenever something got tweaked, added, removed or made more subtle.
