Soooo any news on this devs? The silence is not appreciated, we would like to know what to expect, a patch with a few sound related fixes sprinkled in or a roll back to get things working while you test the new sounds a little better?

Yeah I'm really hoping we will get another patch soon that focuses on this issue.

I logged a ticket about it 4 days ago, even provided a video showing what I was complaining about, no response.

Ah well, gives me plenty of time to play some of the other games I've had piling up while I wait for them to fix it.

Last night I made the mistake of trying 1.1 on headphones. It's a Razer 2.0 something or other, looks like a heli pilot headset, and sounds absolutely incredible... everywhere else.

Jesus tap-dancing Christ this is horrible!

The volume is all over the place. I swear, one more "under attack" from the otherwise lovely ship-lady and I'm calling myself an ambulance!

Positional audio is beyond broken. Beam lasers that are physically sitting on my ears (class 2 points in the Asp you see) sound like my neighbour vacuuming. The legendary WW2 thruster growl is completely mute when centred view, gets louder as I turn my head to either side. Wooot?

The bass took a vacation. I barely take note of the toaster slot as I boost at 350+ through it! It literally sounds like "meh".

Going back to the Z5500 isn't exactly a win but I dread to pick the headphones up after that experience.

Frontier, do you want me to beg? Do you want me to pay for the game AND all my paintjobs (bought solely to support you guys btw) again? I'll do it. Gladly. Just give the good people (and myself) assurance that you're fixing this as matter of priority numero un.

I have confidence that nothing is sounding the way it's supposed to. All the "wow" factor is gone not because they changed the sounds tthemselves but because something is limiting the effects the game runs.

It's not as simple as just changing a sound. I work a lot with live audio in my band and I've learned that everything from every instrument has to be just right for everything to be heard. If the treble is too high on the guitars, the frequencies overlap with the drum's cymbals and all the human ear perceives is static. If there's too much bass and the kick drum is too thick, all you hear is mud from the low end.

So, put computer technology on top of all that and add in audio bugs, one little thing can throw the whole sound stage into disarray.

It's not because they changed the sounds per se, because they've proven they have utter mastery of audio design and human sound perception. These are problems with computers. I imagine they're working hard to get to the bottom of why we're all having these issues.

Spot on. This absolutely fits with my impression.

I think this is because much of the audio is reaching us through an effects processor and not through a direct line including stereo pan. That's also why the sounds is so blurred, muffled.

Bump for God's sake.
/me seconds that bump :) They have taken notice for sure, Joe has been very responsive, even on a Sunday at 9pm! :)

Well lets hope we hear some news very soon... it has been a week now. A week without flying...I'm going god damn space crazy. I hope my Cobras battery aint flat or the landing gear seazed when I finally get to fire the old girl up....

What saddens me is I have had 3 friends buy it this week. They love the sound. I have to tell them it sounded WAY better before. The new Multi-Cannon sounds drive me nuts. It's terrible.

Sound Issue in Conflict Zone

Something I noticed while I was in the High Intensity Conflict Zones, for the community goal, was that when nearby the capital ship, there are times when there is a larger number of sounds going on and the games sound engine cannot seem to handle it. What this does is cause it to basically explode into a ball of distortion and artifacts. I have only had this occur in a high intensity conflict zone while near the cap ship.

This usually indicates either your sound processor (card, interface, etc.) or its driver cannot handle the amount of sounds that are happening simultaneously or that the software you are running cannot handle it. I have tried several things on my end just in case it was my sound solution, including in game settings and ASIO latency settings, but none of the typical settings for this type of issue worked. I have seen the issue happen with another user as well. This is what leads me to believe that it is game side, but a higher sample size is needed obviously.

Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? Is FD aware of the issue? Have they mentioned it? I have done a search and nothing is apparent with the search terms I used. If you have no issue, please do not reply that you "have zero issues." Please only reply if you have something useful to add, including a solution or that you have the same problem. If it is a problem, I'd like it to be presented to the Devs for a fix. Thanks.

No bites huh? Wouldn't be surprised if it's another one of these magical issues that only me and one other person have that there's no solution for. :)

Well, that's good to hear. Was that this past Sunday? My favorite thing about this game was the audio and am really looking forward to hear the intended new mixes =)

I still don't hear a problem with the sounds..anyone have some comparison footage or something?

It might just be your set up. Some people, including the audio team, say they have no problems with the sounds. Basically, if you're not being dropped by how good the game sounds, you're the unlucky ones haha. If you take a look in the earlier pages of the thread you'll find some videos.

Just a check but when I plugged a microphone in sound went south. The microphone boost me be increased when you configure it. Disable it and sound is good.

Same problem here - i raised a ticket an hour ago.

Was really bad when cap ship and others were firing at same target as me - sound just died a few times.

I have xonar essence stx . . .

ps - i also fiddled with my audio settings to no avail (although i dont really know what i'm doing) - currently running audio at 48khz in normal mode, with senn hd650s . . . . it was pretty horrific on the ears at times.
