I am on the same page as the OP as far as the audio changes. BUT the one that peeves me the most is there is no sound now when you deploy your Landing Gear. There is NO sound at all for it now tho it was in the notes it had been "fixed" for some reason. Yeah fixed... no it's now gone...

I hadn't noticed the missing landing gear sound, I just tried it and thought I was missing it too so I killed my thrust and tried the gear without all the engine noises, I can hear the landing gear but it is very quiet. maybe they need to turn the volume up, they had a similar problem with the ships voice in beta, it went really quiet after an update

What happened to the docking sound?

So one thing that i found outstanding in this game is its sound design. Let me get right to the point: Since 1.1 the hangar sound scenery is totally screwed.

I kind of thought i am parking my ship in my bedroom... why isn't there any reverberation? Where are all the hard attacks from the metal collisions?

Isn't it supposed to be a large hall?

I used to turn up the volume when i started playing just to have this massive sound. None of that is left.

Was perfect, all my friends raved about how awesome the sounds were. Now audio is just awful. Tinny, sound dropouts and at times reduced volumes to almost zero.

Just glad I am not only one that noticed. I can accept the low volume when your doing "station stuff" you shouldn't hear what's going on in a station so loud but to miss the the satisfying "clunk" when you deploy your landing gear must be a mistake...

Ugh... so I decide to try and no way I'm taking my Clipper out so I get a sidewinder, head to a nav beacon and everything is muted and "meh". Sound was the best thing they had in this game I think and its taken a MAJOR step back.

WHY DID YOU GUYS TOUCH IT?!

Ugh.

To say I am stunned by the mess that has been made of what was stellar audio would be the understatement of the century. I am going to leave it at that because if I go on it's going to be ugly.

Yeah, I've got to weigh in here too. The thing that hit me (or rather didn't) was the utter lack of audio kick in the game now.

It feels just... well, flat is the word I'm looking for. Depressing and flat. Things that gave you a satisfying feeling like the
aforementioned landing gear, takeoff clunk, hell even the landing bay lifts, and even the station ambient noise
are all nearly nonexistent. When I bought my Asp I was like "yeah, baby here's a ship I'm gonna like!"
Now the growl's a purr.

The previous mix wasn't perfect, but I'd much rather hear it, than the aural sadness I'm getting now.

I agree. Can not even hear the landing gear come down now. The lift to go down into the hangar sucks now. No sound at all... no bass what so ever.

To be fair, for many people a $2 set of throwaway headphones sound "exactly the same" as an AKG-K701... I guess most will not even notice anything... Which is unfortunate.

AKG-K240 on my head currently. :D

Sounds seem more crisp yet somewhat flatter and weaker to me, like some punch got dropped somewhere. I'm getting good delineation but less throatiness and low range overall, seems like.

Edit: Just messed with the new optimized-for settings, going up and down the elelator ride. The best push I got was from Boost, and it merely upgraded the new plasticky sound to a slightly louder plasticky sound. More like a Fisher Price garage than the chunky heavy rumble of the previous mix.

I'm definitely not a fan of these new sounds either. I miss the old "thinking PC" sounds the HUD used to make. Remember FDev, if it's not broke don't fix it.

Edit: I also miss being able to hear my landing gear raise/lower. :(

I haven't played the game in months for reasons (not stating why) and decided to check on this 1.1 patch just to see that they managed to even botch the audio. Bravo guys, bravo; how and why did you even do this? You had almost unanimous praise for your audio and you decide to change it for what purpose?

So they took something that was NOT broken to begin with and that was praised by pretty much everyone that has played or reviewed E:D and decides 'Hey screw it, we can make it BETTER!'...and screwed it up.

When will game devs learn that if something is liked by a huge proportion of the community, changing it, even if the change IS for the better and is actually better, the outcry and player loss and bad publicity is not worth the time, effort and money.

I'm now not looking forward to booting up the game due to this and due to insane collision damage/repair costs and several other small, but annoying things that have changed. I was so hyped up to play tonight too with a new patch, more stuff to explore and new fortunes to make...now it's 'meh...why bother? Guess I'llk play something else'.

I personally loved the sounds in teh game, it made the game feel alive, it made the ships feel like they are actually powerful machines, but with how everyone is complaining it seems we have gone from lions to meek cats content to hide under the sofer. Not a good thing.

It's at 48000 hz Studio Quality, I also have a high end soundcard. Everything worked fine in in 1.07. You can tell the mixing is poor, as you drop out of Hyperspace you can actually hear the sound being turned down. It's beyond amateur... I was calling these guy's geniuses a month ago.

Why change something if it's not broken? Have heard so many complaints on this forum, but never has anyone said the sound is &^% until today.

There's been multiple sound issues in the past, it sucks but, the sound guys know there stuff and will sort it out ASAP. Now if we could get the rest of the team up to the sound peoples standards............

Are you flying small or big ships? Could be just that the bigger ones have more realistic sounds now.

I haven't had a chance to play the 1.1 yet myself...

Ship's voice got punched up a lot.

Sounds like some ATC chatter in the cockpit when docked.

Engines have gotten a lot louder. They are definitely jonesing on piston aircraft.

I think they might be using companding on all of the audio levels. Radio stations do this for commercials.
