The ability to drop out of hyperspace into witch space was good too, plenty of Thargoids there and even a Thargoid station or two.

oh, cool. didn't know elite had aliens. looking forward to that.

what would be even better is if the vision of one of the devs will become a reality: giant space worms that eat asteroids.

(this was in one of their youtube videos. nothing really official, just things the developers would love to see ingame. maybe it was a hint of what's to come, maybe it was just and idea, i don't know.)

I've got a bad feeling about this...

I'm very leery of this. Are these things going to be more powerful than pythons or are they more of a threat to cobras? Just don't like the thought of regular $4 mil insurance payouts just because I went from point a to point b. If the chance of attack was high enough it would turn trading unprofitable which based on the forums I'm sure many people want.

Are the Thargoids going to be the great "credit regulators" of this game keeping people in smaller easily maintainable ships?

God I hope so. The occasional delay would be much more tolerable than the "you rolled a 1" situation, especially if you're flying a freighter.

What would be fantastic is if you do happen come across Alien races you would be able to use their ships and tech, and even make available new tech for exisiting ships and shipyards.

In the Orig Elite you could scoop up the Tharglets (TM) after destroying the MudderShip and sell them to the Navy for tunz-o-munz.

I wonder how they will be introduced. A cool way, other than some random player finding their homeworld or whatnot, would be that some "mysterious" sightings have been spotted in sector "X and Y". This could show up on the news channel at the stations. This would be an awesome introduction to what might be a small scouting party of aliens before the big invasion happens :D

The Thargoids are coming!

They are plotting, waiting for their next victim at the right time. They hide in the clouds that whiz past you during hyperspace travel, ready to pop out at any moment. You can sometimes hear them behind your seat when you're out in deep space on idle, ready to swing their claws at you. They are watching us.

Be careful in your explorations far outside of colonized space, commanders.

Why just one alien race? The galaxy is big enough for many. I'd love it if they were dotted around the galaxy and a lone explorer stumbling upon one of their systems would trigger a first contact war ;)

Suspect they'd pop up in V1.5 or V2.0 (or the like) in 3-6 months. Could be used to give the game a second wave of PR/sales.

But 30 years later. Will the Thargoid ship still be the pie platter or more like the "Narada", the Romulan mining vessel Nero flew in Star Trek (2009)? What lurks in the minds of FD Developers...

I was thinking more in how they'd be introduced in-game! :D

Ohhhh!

Worse case - A new interdiction mechanic in hyperspace :(
Better case - Something far more interesting involving seeing them at times in SC and possibly having to take action before being interdicted by them etc.
Best case - Something even more story driven including systems being overtaken by them and involving conflict zones and the like.
