Why just one alien race? The galaxy is big enough for many. I'd love it if they were dotted around the galaxy and a lone explorer stumbling upon one of their systems would trigger a first contact war ;)

...or even trigger a massive opportunity for trade? Them there aliens are gonna have something we desperately desire!

I am hoping that when the Thargoids arrive, they really arrive. In Frontier and FFE they were a feature but not really a thing like they were in the original.
It would be good if, seeing as ED is more along the lines of a 21st century remake of Elite than a sequel to FFE, that the Thargoids have a presence like they did in the original.

Lol! The drug references r really bustin me up:)
Thargoids effect on things will bring an entirely new dynamic to ED...cant wait.

I'm on a deep space exploration mission, and I'm terrified that I'm going to jump to a system and be the first to encounter Thargoids...

Me: "What's that radar signature, I'm in the middle of no where?"

BOOOM!!!!

Me: "Ohhhhh... right"

So according to Elite lore there have been other races as relics have been found.

The reason there are only Thargoids.....my guess is they wiped the other races out. They have their fear glands surgically removed ya know.

I hope a player based trigger such as an explorer triggers them.

I also hope they are almost impossible to destroy.

Thargoids?

Hi,

Are Thargoids mentioned currently in the game? On the roadmap? Mentioned by FD?

Also.. If i remember correctly the Thargoid Invasion ships could launch smaller ships during fight... Is this correct, or was I dreaming? A few years since I spent hours on the BBC in classic Elite :)

Thx for any info.

Not currently in the game, definitely on the roadmap. Not sure if it will be added with patch or DLC, I suspect it may be the latter as it is not a small thing to add. Would be fine by me, btw.

The Thargoids are definatly not forgotten ,and unless something like the End of the World happens before then, we'll see Thargoids sometime in the future (maybe other alien species as well? *of that I'm guessing)
.
The Thargoids have been mentioned ,but I imagine a lot will happen in Elite Dangerous before we see them, I imagine they're a long way off still

In Elite they dropped Thargans, which were small ships with pulse lasers. When (if?) the main Thargoid was destroyed, the Thargans stopped functioning and could be scopped as Alien Items IIRC.

If Thargoids are in the game, they should be able to disrupt Hyperspace jumps, and should be tough. Really tough. And normal escape should be harder.

Would love to see those bad boys in ED.

Thargans.. oh yes.. sweet memories :)

Thank you.

I actually hope they are not a purchasable DLC, simply because that will mean they never make it into normal space (due to not everyone having hte dlc), and we only ever see them in systems that we can only get to with the DLC (so presumably some sort of special jump drive to get to thargoid space).

I wonder is scooped alien items taken from the enemy would still be "stolen"? ;) ***
I hope once we get them in the game, we can scoop then and sell them legitimately to special science research outposts etc

***though iirc - and its been a long time since playing 1st enc, I think we did make peace with the thargoids at the end???

I read a quote from David Braben somewhere that there will be at least 3 sentient races in the game at some point, whether that includes the Thargoids it didn't say. I'm hoping that Trumbles make a return too. :D
