hell yeah, but an organic design similar to yours or my links would rock, making them truely creepy.
So basically this, then:

Anything just make it damn creepy, I always thought that the octogon design didnt generate that "Holy crap i am in deep ....." feeling when you saw it, yeah you knew you were in crap but imagine some creepy ass music after being pulled into which space with some kind of message like when a capitol ship appears and then seeing something like these ideas come out from that cloud lol.

The Thargoids.

Any information about this insectoid alien race being introduced into the Galaxy sooner or later? As we don't know what role they will take in Elite: Dangerous in their final incarnation, initially i thought limited encounters would be introduced deep in unoccupied space by now, or picking up communication signals of unknown origin, or finding a few wrecked ships, just to wet our appetites.

Frontier Developments team are still being very cagey on this subject, so does any one think they are being introduced in 1.3?

Didn't you know? The thargoids were a hoax, there was no invasion, there was no deaths, the humanity was never on the blink of extintion.

It was all a hoax to increase our taxes to build more space mcnoodles.

A friend of my girlfriend's cousin knows someone who works in Dominos Pizza, and he says 1.3 will definitely contain a new faction... the Bjorg.

They are a mix of malevolence and benevolence - for whilst they force you to assimilate, they do so by deploying an army of '7 of 9's, and then force you to eat well, excercise regularly, enjoy a good sauna, and drive very safe cars.

A savory smorgasbord anyone...?

I'm pretty scared of Thargoids in ED. I'm thinking about the size of, say, an Anaconda. A Thargoid is the same length AND breadth as that baby is long. They'll be like attacking a small village, plus if Thargans are implemented properly, it'll be like attacking a bear whilst being swarmed by bees. I have a feeling that they'll be tough. What I REALLY hope for, and ED will allow this in a way that Elite couldn't properly, is that they'll only ever appear in Witchspace at first. Imagine entering hyperspace, watching the trippy clouds go past as you wait to arrive at Lave, and suddenly ghostly octagons appear and a green octagonal Escape Vector. Your controls judder to life. And then...
Octagons.

...And then... Octagons...

This is the only small concern I have with these aliens.

FD has a very coherent/traditional approach towards the space-ship design; most forms resemble the original 1984 ships, as we all know. While this is a valid and fun design decision (IMO), I would love to see something different regarding the Thargoids. There is another thread already, where people suggested more organic forms for the "new" ED Thargoids - and I agree. There is nothing more alien in human eyes than those wired, twisted Gieger designs.

I still hope, however, that FD might have already choosen an according approach. After all, only 'most' ships follow the traditional design. Some don't, and Thargoids might very well be one of those overhauled designs.

And even if not - who sais that, once we meet aliens in ED, Thargoids are the only contacts we make? Ther might be new intelligent species out there. One of them might as well use those organic ships I (and others) hope for...

Thargoids would certainly be fun to have, but sadly they aren't the most important concern at the moment.

The way I read FD's patching/expansion policy thus far, they address the most critical issue every time. First priority is fixing bugs, then adding the most lacking content - such as social tools with wing update and the planned economic diversity in the immediate future.

Thargoids are mostly flavor.

I hope. I have watched the NPC being weakened over the months to accommodate the newplayers and interdictions are now at a level where it is just like a approaching a red traffic light, it stops you, you wait while twiddling your thumbs, then you move on. I hope the Thargoids difficulty settings is extremely difficult and will require wings to combat them.

I suspect FD would have different divisions/teams. One team dedicated to patching, one team dedicated to new content for the existing game, one team working on an expansion etc.

Thargoids/Future Content?

Found a area of space which seems to be "unknown permit" in the REGOR SECTOR trying to get to a big star at HD 62506 only 1200 ly from human space. wall.png

Its like a wall which I am skirting around, I have never come across this before. Is this a area reserved for future Thargoid action? Any other commanders found similar areas?
