The time has come....=(

Bit hard to ignore them when the entire forum turns into Heathrow terminal two whenever something doesnt go peoples way.
All I would say is have a bit of compassion ED means different things to different people and as was said has helped people. If the thread is a concern to you don't read it don't comment you've said that to me before. So yeah empathy also wouldn't go a miss.

I ran the OP's OP through my salt detector and found no traces. Therefore, farewell commander and don't mind the rest of it.

I wish you fair winds and following seas in wherever life takes you.

See you in Elite 2.

Thanks for the feedback.
i generally enjoy your particular brand of snark.

it's fun watching you hand out eggs and i find you clever and witty most of the time with just the right amount of bite.

i read the text of OP's post and didn't find it irrationally angry or bitter. just a little sad and disappointed. and while i share the OP's disappointment about the Odyssey news for Console, i will continue playing Horizons on my Series X and may even move to PC if i ever decide to purchase one that is up to spec.

the OP didn't blame anyone or anything. in fact, quite the opposite. i understand there are some over the top, whiny, entitled posters out there that have thrown their controller against the wall and demanded that FDev meet their every demand. this OP wasn't that.

it was just someone who enjoyed the game and now can't and is taking a (perhaps forever) break.

Don't you mean see you in Elite 5? (depending on how you count the versions of course)

And now we have everyone expressing their displeasure at others expressing their displeasure about departure threads that don't really need to be posted but are posted because people feel an attachment to the game that they've become so attached to that they want to express their displeasure with how the game is doomed and that all this will do is create more of a sense of doom that will probably doom this thread to being locked because it'll run way past where it should have stopped because I can't.... oh, wait, never mind, I found where I put the period key.
I kind of miss 1985 when we just played Elite and didn't have any way of reading the thoughts of doomsayers. Unless they wrote in to Computer & Video Games magazine or something. Which they generally didn't bother to do.

It really is sad... given the apathy here in the forums.... forums are here for all discussions not just glowing reviews of the game. A person makes a post to say that they're going to quit, for "X" reasons... is that not valuable feedback Like some of the professional troll posters responses here contain any valuable information? The mockery of descent while the whole ship goes down in flames. Truly ironic.

I m very sad of course but maybe we can play together in the future… Im a Brazilian gamer, its hard to get a decent PC here ( taxes ). Recently I bought the Series X so I cant buy anything for the next months. I believed Elite Odyssey would really be released at least for the new consoles…

Sorry that you had bad timing. Ebay can be your friend in this. Plenty of decent secondhand laptops on offer for cheaper that can play ED and Odyssey if one knows where to look. ( link )

Well, what I can say….Elite is my favorite game, I have so many good memories, it may sound stupid but Elite helped me a lot. I've had a hard time the last few years and playing Elite made me disconnect a little from the world. I know many will say: it's just a game. Yes, I know... But it has been very important to me in recent years.

I know what you mean. ED can be relaxing even therapeutic. Flying and seeing deep space and the stellar forge simulation of the stars also around stellar bodies, is like one's own 'planetarium' or an astronomy building and massive telescope, what people used to have to have to go to for a "visiting" view of the stars before Elite's tech with Elite 2, 3 and ED today. A sim that more realizes the hypothetical starship that Carl Sagan roleplayed in his tv show Cosmos, and also a better "warp speed" simulator than most all Star Trek labeled games themselves. ED may be somewhat similar to one's own backyard pool, a relaxing endeavor by sight, one can "dip" in any time on their home system. This achievement by Frontier for its customers has comparatively rarely been acknowledged, appreciated, or long since been taken for granted. (yes, there's a couple of those "space simulator" softwares out there, but nowhere near the optional interactivity or ship cruising experience)

Well if that can't work out for you either for ED, there's also MSFS (Flight simulator 12) if you haven't tried it already. Sounds like the best new flight sim (and expeirence) of today and well supported by msft on Series X. (I'm still sticking to my old FSX and addons for now)
