Yup, I'm in too, despite it being considerably more than expected. Besides, I'd already sunk near £2k on a gaming PC to run VR, no point squirming over another couple hundred quid.

£529 tho, jeez.

No surprises that the Oculus subreddit is going batsh1t crazy.

Just one more thing...

FRONTIER DEVS PLEASE PLEASE MAKE MY PURCHASE WORTH IT :'(

I think ive got it...no confirmation email yet but looks like its through otherwise.

Just to check, everyone got their confirmation email pretty much straight away? Both myself and a mate are having the same issue now, teased with apparent successful preorders but no confirmation emails :/

Order placed 16:03 for a March delivery........

Ok it was a little over expected price range but hey its my B'day in March so I can get the Mrs to buy it as a present ;)

Ordered. Shipping date April. Abit angry that Oculus went with such a high price but... Now the waiting starts. April..!!?? NOOooo...! - Straps on his old trusty DK2 and fires up ED.....

Order confirmed April deliver, nice Birthday gift. Money saved since last year just for the CV1. Very excited. Funny I got like 4 confirmation emails, maybe I got some of the posters aboves ?

Have to figure in xbox one controller 50 usd, Valkyrie 50 usd and Lucky tales 25 usd
Oculus rift price alone is probably 475 dollars. Most ppl suspected the CV1 would be priced around 500 USD so not more then I suspected it would be.

Bought one 683$, Shipping & tax. Was going to buy Rift AND the Vive ...but 599$ solved that...just going with the rift.

Tried to order at 11 on the dot but it took me 35 minutes all in all where I had to resort to using a proxy to get it to put my order through. Ended up with an April shipping date which sucks though :(

I stopped playing elite when 1.3 dropped and I'm hoping FD pull their fingers out in regards to the sdk as I don't see any point in playing the game without vr.

I did, but with a mind to cancelling if one of the following occurs:


  • Vive pricing is decent.
  • Buyers remorse sets in.
  • Frontier don't confirm Oculus support.

Not such a bad price especially for people with only one monitor at present who want to upgrade their gaming experience. .

I can kind of understand why FD has waited for the CV1 release to continue updating for the new Oculus runtimes. Since a big part of the DK2's issues spring from the actual display it is using and until the CV1 release there is no way to update the game to optimize for the new screens. I am sure a few CV1's have arrived at FD and they are working on optimizing ED for it, and since the CV1 wont get into any consumers hands until at least April or so there is no reason for FD to add the functionality to ED until then, 4 months is plenty of time. Unfortunately that doesn't necessarily equate to any compatibility for the DK2.

I cant order it cause I Need it to ship to Canada :( and my billing adress is in europe - doesnt allow me to place the order... Country of origin has to match the shipping adress! I am sooo mad right now!!!!!

I hope they will continue to support it, more than ever because this is still the only available VR set in the next time and many people will continue to use it due to the unexpected high price tag for CV1.

I didn't mean to imply that the DK2 won't work with the new updates just that I am sure any changes made will be geared specifically to improving the CV1 functionality.

I pre-ordered at 8:01:00 this morning. Most likely I'll also buy Vive when it becomes available, too. I really don't understand, though, why there is so much:
  • "THIS THING COSTS TOO MUCH"
  • "THIS THING THAT DOESN'T RELEASE UNTIL APRIL WON'T WORK. I LOOKED INTO MY CRYSTAL BALL AND KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE"
  • "BECAUSE IT COMES WITH EVE, IT WON'T WORK WITH E/D"
  • "VR IS STUPID"

I stopped using (the vast majority of) public forums after Eternal September hit back in the late 90's....is this really the new normal?

Yeah I understand too but I know things do suck right now for the current vr players a lot of whom bought in to ed/rift purely for the vr.

I personally got the dk1 was sold on vr so I skipped the dk2 and sold my dk1 (whilst I could still make my money back) and waited patiently for cv1. If FD do mess up and not have ED compatible with CV1 by the time it releases in march I can see a lot of people kicking off.

Ordered mine and will pay the £529 shipping to the UK (email tells me it will arriving in May) using the money i got for the sale of my 2 DK2 s on ebay, dissapointed at the price point, whether i cancel my CV1 order now hinges solely on whether FD is going to support it.
