While owls were the most requested bird both times, the long-eared was nowhere near the most requested species. lol congrats to the ONE user who voted for them this time.

But I appreciate their inclusion! I think for most of us, the spectacled, brown body, warm colored eyes, and striking plumicorns is what we all think when we first hear "owl", and while America's nominate pick is probably the Great Horned, and Eurasia has the Eagle Owl, long-eared seems like a smart compromise as they live in both hemispheres.

And c'mon, WE HAVE AN OWL!!!! 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 It's a dream come true! And he's AMERICAN! I'm sure others are to follow.

What a hoot. While I did expect all the green boxes to be taken up by already confirmed species that should have been in the Zoopedia from the start, I am glad that I am partially wrong about both boxes being taken by already confirmed species. The long-eared owl is a versatile species in terms of range, so I can see it being used in many zoos including American Zoos, European Zoos, and East Asian Zoos.

I hope we al get bamboozled with some surprise owl species when the game does come out.

I'm not even sure where to begin! Eggs! NEST!! TAPIRS!!! That's kinda all I got lol
My ONLY question is if flighted birds can be exhibited without the avairy roof in an enclosed modular build - like a birdhouse. Maybe there could be a null roof feature? Time will tell, but for right now, the hype isn't just in the air, it's SOARING.

Probably the best feature focus we've gotten. I've wanting egg laying for a while, even if it was never a feature at the forefront of my mind, so I'm happy to see it confirmed for all birds and reptiles, not just aviary birds. Nests look great, and being able to mix habitat and aviary animals together will do wonders for realistic zoos. Now I wonder if aquarium animals can coexist with semi-aquatic species like the Hippopotamus.
