The VR Dashboard "V" is now in Open Beta!

Right now, due to design limitations and the fact that every Oculus Rift comes with a Xbox Controller,

They don't all come with one. I got my CV1 from a main dealer here in the UK and no controller.

Anyway putting that aside I tried to use V at the weekend and found it next to impossible to use without HOTAS or Mouse support so I am looking forward to seeing that in place.

I also couldn't get anything to happen by tapping my Rift twice.
I take it there is going to be a key combo available to bring up V? That means I can bring it up via Voice Attack with a voice command.

In a nutshell
1. I want to be able to bring up the menu with a voice command via voice attack so we need a keypress combo if there isn't one already.
2. Navigation around the initial app grid should be available via my HOTAS, namely the hat switch with app selection on trigger (button 1)
3. Once the browser (as an example) is open with the virtual keyboard underneath, allow us to use the mouse to navigate the webpage and type with on the virtual keyboard.
4. If you REALLY want me to spend good money on this, allow us to bring up the virtual keyboard on its own and use it to specifically type things (with the mouse pointer) in comms and galaxy map.

HINT: I'll pay good money for this especially number 4.

You can keep all the twitch and youtube stuff, it takes away from the game.
I purely want an in VR browser window and VR keyboard.

Cheers

These are very good suggestions. I personally love V after getting used to it. I use the Xbox controller and just look down at the circle to pull it up (double-tap doesn't work for me either). FWIW, the touch controller works as well, but I find it a bit more finnicky. Yes, V has a ways to go to become a little more streamlined, but it's the only real solution for us right now and a pretty damned good one!

This is a silly thing to say, because V is just a browser with pre-programmed bookmarks.

Hey guys, looking for some help with this one. I used V on my old computer and it worked really well. With my new one however, it doesn't see ED, and I'm not able to type or paste anything into the V process box as suggested by the support forum. Anyone know if I can put it into a config file or something to get around this?

I know my post is no help to you, but i sent them an email months ago asking for a little bit of support, "STILL waiting guys" if you are reading this!

For anyone who is looking for info on hello V or help they are very active on Discord

Yes, this is the way to get a hold of them. Pretty much instant turnaround.

So are you not able to inject V into ED? Sometimes it doesn't inject itself automatically and you'll have to open V on your desktop (from the taskbar) and manually select the ED executable and inject it.

It's 3 AM here, so excuse my laziness. Just can't be bothered to read all this thread to find out and someone probably knows the answer anyway... Is this compatible with HTC Vive?

I noticed the Discord channel on their support page just after posting this and tried that. I also got an instant response. The devs were really helpful and walked me through a bunch of troubleshooting before sending through a new dev build to try which worked. I still have to manually type in the process ID to get it to inject, but at least it's injecting now. Try them over there.

According to the website it's Rift only.

By the way, this "tap the headset twice" thing, is that just a gimmick or is it genuine?

The tapping works, kind of... my guess is that the software uses the gimbals and accelerometers in the headset to detect a movement such as this. The rest doesn't work, not ready for prime time Im afraid. Still hoping one day it will.

The instant invite has expired.

Works 10 percent of the time !

Inject doesn't let me type anything or paste, tapping the headset turns into almost knocking myself out and it still doesn't load 90 percent of the time, giving up before my headset does ! nice idea when it works, which is rarely.

Don't know if this helps, if you remove your VR headset and check the taskbar will probably see the red cube icon showing that Hello VR is running, but by design it will only show in the headset when its 80 fps or higher. ED drops below this in spots and Hello V does not then open with any amount of tapping :)

what gfx card do you run?

I guess the good news is that maybe the new oculus dash interface coming in December may allow overlay too? Perhaps too little too late for Hello V?

Sadly I think you're right. I assume V is someone's small side project given the rather slow pace of development over the last year or so. From what I see there hasn't been any appreciable update to it since release, other than maybe a few very minor fixes. It's a shame too as it could have been very cool and possibly the start of something but seeing with Core 2.0 has my guess is that V will be obsolete before it's ever functionally useful.

Either way good for consumers as the 2.0 update does look rather cool.

I struggled getting HelloV to work until I removed Reshade/sweetFX. It would constantly crash/error report. Since removing Reshade it runs perfect now.

Is there any way to change the keybindings on HelloV rather than mess around with my HOTAS/VA setup?
