I sort of agree. As soon as you label, be it carebears, whiteknights, fanboys, etc, you create battle-lines in the sand whether you want to or not. If you feel there are objectively good things about Elite, I think that's good - and should be said, to address the large amounts of bloglite negativity that rolls about these forums (you quit? sorry to hear that, so glad you found to write a post on that). This, however, sounds more about the person, or the pedestal, than the game. We don't need labels, just objective commentary.
And no, to the rhetoric that always bounds down the lane in response, the game isn't "broken". I do wish we could avoid that label for when things are actually broken.
ahah but tis the fine folk here who called me a white knight first. Called me it for doing exactly what i said above - accepting the game is flawed but enjoying it anyway. as thats all i did. if i got called a white knight for that.so be it..but it contradicts the definition Flavourless thrust upon me. 07

Stockholm Syndrome :Feelings of trust or affection felt in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim towards a captor.
Doesnt really apply like you said though..i dont think FD has kidnapped anyone or made them do anything.

anyway no, it's of course not stockholm syndrome. it's just there's people naturally averse to criticism or even dissent. some of these people may get overprotective of the game or the developers and dismiss valid arguments with plain denial. sometimes some can get called out for it and this is where it gets complicated, because this in turn turns into a meme that at one point will get thrown around in exactly the same denial process, just in a different context, by different people.
this is just natural, welcome to the show. someone suggested you have still a bit to ride on the internets. he's right. but don't worry, there's no hurry whatsoever.
