I like the general idea but I also like the idea of small ships like the Eagle and maybe Viper being able to survive but not make money out of it through BH or Danger trading as you described, but as scouts would give them a chance of trying it out.
.
Also think Anacondas shouldn't be soloing it. They should have an escort as it should be
.
A lot of this should have been generated by the background simulation in the sense of the value of selling goods in tough systems if the Devs upped the Pirate strength

thought this was going to be a recipe for hot sauce

Funny you should say that - after last year's success with the Chango Sauce recipe (A couple of commanders on here took delivery of a few bottles of it), the seeds for this year's are germinating nicely in trays sitting on the drive housing and I'll be releasing the recipe in July time ready for the next batch ;-)

However, that's a different topic!

Sorry to be the fly in your ointment, but if that could be done 30 years ago on 8-bit computers then I'm sure it could have been in the game by now if FD had wanted to do it. It isn't, so I think we have to assume they don't. :(

Less negativity - more support for the improvements! The more we talk about the positive steps we would like, and the less time we spend commenting that things "aren't in", the more likely we are to get it in the future.

More noise for things we'd love to see!!!

For crazy pirates I am out on the fringes in an anarchic refinery system, and last night was interdicted four times as I went about hauling 120t of palladium. It was like bees to honey! Two were bottom feeding Sidewinders, but the others were an Elite Anaconda and a Clipper. Flying out to HIP 101110 by mistake was the best thing to happen to me in Elite as the game has changed- its gone from quite calm in Lave / Leesti to utterly lawless (but huge profits!).

Dev time isn't infinite. Get the architecture/mechanics going first, then add content. The other way around you risk introducing breaking changes months after the game has released (at worst you necessitate a wipe of everyone's savegame status). And I probably don't have to tell you what that would mean.

That would be good, especially if the secure systems were made at the same time safer. Choices for the player.
But if you lost your lone Cobra in anarchic systems in the original game, then you weren't doing it right. I only ever lost mine to the undefendable "Boarded by pirates" at random stations.

Oh yes, in the original I'd get sweaty palms before jumping into anarchy space, it was magic.

That's exactly what ED is missing, it's been said over and over but Elite missed being Dangerous by a long shot. But +1 for the OP because these kind of suggestions are welcome to open a discussion up on Wings and ED's potential to exploit 1.2 to its fullest.

Swarming and mob dogfighting tactics would be excellent in ED, right now it's like a Japanese Kung Fu movie where the villains all line up in single file waiting to take on the hero....

And yes Faerie, it was done on an 8-bit computer, pirates often grouped in threes and were significantly tougher (from my hazy memory anyway) than the AI we have today.

This bit isn't architecture, it's NPC AI, so instead of dialling up the NPC difficulty which is what seems to have happened as a quick answer I hope Wings brings more depth to the AI itself as well.

I have to say its interesting the ongoing posts crying out for deeper, richer content around Wings, as its laid out so far I cant see anything about it that is more than the most basic of 4 man grouping, Im sure there is more but I doubt it will be much, of course this is only v1.0 of Wings and its got time to improve.

Great ideas....i just posted on adding in different roles for ships and that sounds like a really cool option as well since really ammo counts are pretty low.

I agree - the objective here is to present our ideas and wishes in a positive, forward looking manner that lets the development team know that whilst we're enjoying the game, and looking forward to wings, we're eager for more! A salve and a tonic to all the grumbling - a positive thread with grand ideas in it.

Like you, I'm also sure there will be more over the coming months and years and if, by our positive vibes, we can ensure future success of this game by supporting the improvements and heralding quite what a rich experience it already is (and I firmly believe that it is, from my photo-sidey adventures, to Erimus and his grand exploration, right through to the hilarious antics of our now-moved-to-roleplay pirate friend over the last few days), then we will be improving our own experience.

Bring on the danger - I'm saving up and tooling my ship up for the next Anarchic or Feudal challenge.

I have RP all planned for Wings, have zero clue whether I'll be able to execute it because Frontier provide us with zero information. The PC Gamer teaser really is just that: a teaser. Or if past history has taught us anything, the teaser is the main event...

Nothing to see here folks, move along quietly now.

Yes to this. I remember thinking at least twice about going to Anarchies back in Elite, they're not nearly dangerous enough propositions at the moment. I don't think I've ever checked for them on the map even. Much as I'm thoroughly enjoying my time in game and I can't believe I'm saying this:

More terror please :)

Yea, this was a design decision forum topic. One of the many (solo-player related) things left on the cutting room floor...

I guess it's waiting for persistent NPCs to arrive in the game, along with crew members and passenger missions; it'll probably be pushed back to the EVA expansion when they are actually forced to design real NPCs. I find missions in Elite: Dangerous suffer from a lack of character: just seeing the individual names of the characters you were having business dealings with in FE2 was enough. Elite: Dangerous missions are very "faceless".

I agree with Op. I hope we wont only have fighters groups but varied ones (for example 2 big fighters and 2 traders ships...or 3 fighters and a "cow" etc) and the possibility to share the rewards that shouldn't be only bounty but market profits too.
