The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

Revisited a place today. I sometimes think what happened to this poor family... It is probably the saddest place I've ever visited in a game, and it's not even part of any plot.

First time I found this place I was curious to what was inside. A man had hanged himself....

...and there were children's toys laying around. But when entering the house....

Aww it's not such a big spoiler :) the game is full of this sort of thing and it's brilliantly done by CDP. It's not forced on you everywhere you go it's believable and often very subtle.

I have to say though that Blood and Wine hasn't gripped like the main game and the first dlc did. It's lacking something that the main game brought to the experience. Can't quite put my finger on it at all. It probably doesn't help that I'd had pc problems when it came out and I just haven't put enough time into it. Irritating though because I'd looked forward to it and wanted to finish out the series with the same feeling that I got with the main game.

Hearts of Stone was extremely funny yeah :D Vlodimir is one of the best characters in there :D

You've literally just reminded me I have this downloaded (with the main story completed and both DLCs awaiting me) on my Xbox. It's a magnificent RPG, easily one of my top 5, possible even top 3.

That is one of the places I remember from my first playthrough. It made me very sad and sent a chill down my spine when I've discovered it. Many different scenarions crossed my mind when I was exploring that area. Did he kill them and then committed suicide? Did he came back from was and found them dead? Did they die out of hunger? Did some soldiers or bandits did this all?

Man, it really gets your imagination going. I absolutely LOVE little gems like that in Witcher 3. It's a proof you don't even need a quest to have a great story in game, just make it possible for the players to make up the story in their heads, even if it's an insignificant part of the game... It adds TONNES to the atmosphere and the general feel of the game. That's one of the reasons W3 is one of the best games ever made - all the little things that add up to create a very believeable world around the player.

His arms are tied behind his back, so I guess that wasn't a suicide.

The WItcher 3 is an absolute masterpiece.

Every quest, even the most unnecessary side quest, has a worderfully crafted story worthy of being told. Every character feels organic. There is little black and white, good and evil here. Characters feel real, their motivations feel human, for better or worse. Many shades of grey. A huge world full of worderful, terrifying and unforgettable stories to tell and things to discover.

I had already loved The Witcher 2 for the very same reasons, but the Witcher 3 managed not only to surpass it but to expand it on so many levels. It just set the bar so high for future RPGs.

At the same time I felt sad, for having played through the last part of the incredible adventure of Geralt of Rivia. It shall be missed.

The only complain I got with the Witcher series are the combat mechanics, they are not as good as they could have been, that being said is also my only complain and sometimes frustration. I like the mechanics in Skyrim a lot more.

but how could he hang himself? his hands are tied to his back? I think something else happened here?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Why are his hands bound and his head in a shroud? Did he do something to the boy and was hanged outside the house, and the mother committed suicide?
Or is it just the fault of some developer who placed the wrong model?
Either way, it is a strong scene. :)

Yeah the combat is very lame, and it reminds me of Assassins Creed 1 at best, which isn't a great reference... But the biggest complain I have with Witcher 3 is that the game basically dwarfs all other RPGs, even if it not my favourite RPG of all time, it's incredibly well crafted.

Aye, you're right. My bad! :)

Just one more thing, do you think he tied his own hands behind his back before or after he hanged himself?

Such a beautiful brilliant game. Those big studios should be ashamed of themselves for fonking out the same trite standard for the genre garbage for years. I have restarted the second DLC now that my pc is behaving again - still not so keen on toussaint as Base for this I miss the war torn velen beautiful Skellige and the bustling medieval towns. Oh well I'm going to get my teeth round the main story a bit more and see how I feel.

Started a playthrough on "Plus" mode a couple of weeks ago, and it's certainly tougher. Several opponents will kill you in two hits, and the first staggers you so the second is hard to avoid.

The "levelling" continues to be a bit weird and annoying; the rusty piece o' crap sword I found lying about now is infinitely better than the epic, sword-master hand-crafted sword I earned ages ago.

I've also found the levels on the quests to be odd now. I'm Level 63, but all the main quests are about 5 levels lower, while the secondary quests and contracts are about my level. That means it's hard to wander about and do the secondary quests as I normally do, or else the main quests will be too easy and offer virtually no XP reward.

Overall, I've found it a tad more boring playing through again, more than I expected. I am enjoying exploring a few options that I never tried the first time. ("No, Yennifer. I don't love you any more!". Wait, crap, I thought there would be dialogue where Geralt meant that as a joke! Exit to Menu! Reload! Reload!) I'm looking forward to the Blood and Wine expansion as that's the one bit I haven't tried yet. Plus, making sure I collect all the Gwent cards, and don't wait around until one of them dies...

Now, to sit back and enjoy the sunset.

Hundreds of branching quests and dialogues, huge world torn by war, faction decisions, kings that might fall or rise, cities in turmoil, cursed families, wraiths from another dimension coming to doom the world in a hellish drakkar, babies facing being eaten by lesbian witches, prejudice, racism, injustice, but The One Question that really, truly matters is:

Yen...? Or Triss...? :D

A Polish modders team are making a post-Witcher 3 mini game in Witcher 2 creation engine (as there isn't one for W3) whch includes Geralt and Yen's wedding :)

Here's the Polish thread on the forums, you can use translator :)
