Can't say I'm surprised to see an increase in this type of complaint. Gamers have become so use to dumb down easy mode co-op no risk MMO's it was only a matter of time they would graduate from crying about player killers to "grifer" AI.

Seriously??!!?? You elitests (no pun intended) are not making this game seem accessible ... It's too bad cuz David Braben has an amazing vision that may actually be realized .... Hint hint Star Citizen

Yah I was with Hudson till a few days ago and I defected. Granted, with this question, I will say interdictions went through the roof upon pledging. Please don't get me wrong, I love this idea and believe it's integral to this game, but it's got to be balanced. Today alone I had the 4 within 0.70 ls and not one on a 300k ls journey, though I suppose system status will play a part in the generation of this happening.

That's "good" you illiterate 12 year old. Yes, I have room for improvement, so do you. Maybe you should look closer at what my complaint is about, but you're probably happier trolling behind the anonymity of the Internet.

As for your complaint, it's nothing new. This board is filled with people who complain about any kind of difficulty or risk in their space trucker simulator. I've been doing nothing but smuggling missions since the patch and have thoroughly enjoyed the added risk and more intelligent AI.

Keep it up, Frontier.

Dear god, I must be alone. Let me reiterate "I believe interdictions are an integral part of Elite".... I've said and defended that...my complaint is what I feel is excessive interdictions. I can easily dispatch 3 out of 4 interdictions, whether they're solo or in a wing, my Asp is pretty stout, my complaint is the FREQUENCY that interdictions occur. This has nothing to do with my skillset and everything to do with FD procedural generation. It's all based on math, it's easily fixable. Not just towards how I want to play, but if you missed the point of my arguments, I doubt you play on Xbox. I LOVE elite, I bought the first game system ever in my life to enjoy this game. I am not your normal troll.

Here's some research I undertook on the frequency of NPC interdictions...

NPC Interdictions - Hard facts and Statistics!

My advice, if you want to reduce the frequency of NPC interdictions...

1) Do NOT "pledge" to a Power. PowerPlay is just silly for interdictions, as a bunch of power enforcers/agents are then out to get you.

2) Avoid populated ANARCHY systems. As you can see from my linked thread, those systems are quite dangerous.

3) Become aware of the System Security Level. It has an impact on interdiction risk. HIGH SECURITY is pretty safe.

My advice for surviving NPC interdictions...

1) Don't fight it. Submit to it. Currently, the FSD cooldown timer is ridiculously short for "Submitting".

2) Boost 3km away for a quick jump back into supercruise.

3) If you aren't fast, then target a nearby star system and hyperspace away to there. There isn't the "Mass Disruption" slowdown impact on hyperspacing.

Interdiction when undermining troubles...

Anybody else have an incredibly hard time interdicting NPC's when trying to undermine during Powerplay?

I decided to give it a try this morning/afternoon and got so frustrated that I couldn't win interdictions that I question how much I'll play it after this point. Might be an overreaction right now but I probably totalled 20-25 attempts with 3 different ships (Anaconda/Python/Fed. Assault) and was only successful on 2 of those tries. I used an A4 rated FSDI on each and I just couldn't do it. I use default controller settings and it seems you have to be so precise when interdicting that I just can't hold it precisely on the target when it's jerking around.

Is it this hard for anybody else or do I just really suck at that part of the game?

No, it's not you, I have the same problem. I think FD has incremented the difficult but now the result is looooong time for interdiction, more hard and very bored. It's frustrating.

Just come down to Gauluuja, and get your Opposition on. ;)

d.

Interdictions are a little buggy sometimes but if you can powerslide your way to the top of the GP leaderboard I'm sure you'll do fine :p Trip down memory lane right there lol

Well, yeah.. I've run about 30 smuggling missions today and while I noticed the increase in interdictions and security ships following you to outposts (awesome imo), nothing about it seemed unfair to me. It livens up otherwise boring missions.

Seems to me like you just want to play Elite: Free Credits. I mean you actually called the AI griefers. You're a criminal doing illegal things. It's meant to be risky.

Good job, Frontier.

Again with this stupendous ignorance that just seems to pour out of you.

I am carrying one, single occupied cryopod. I dropped out of Supercruise and capped a bounty off, and while fighting the wing, two security security ships popped in and scanned me. I got a small fine for my one, single occupied cryopod that I had just picked up. I left and security popped out after me. And interdicted me immediately.

I had to snap a photo because I didn't have time to take a proper screencap. This is the 275LS between where I picked up the bounty and the nearest station.

But hey, like you said, that DOESN'T happen, right? Tell me more about your incredibly uninformed opinion.

FSD interdicter useless

After the update my 5mil FSD interdicter hardly EVER works. What is the point of spending hours getting enough cash to buy a good one and then make it almost impossible to use after an update.

You guys at frontier have made quite a mess of things. All of my friends, and I mean ALL of them who have bought the game before release have quit out of pure frustration. They all played the originals in the 80's and 90's.

The game is too complicated for them. And you keep changing the goal posts. Again you interfere with the rare goods and now they have to try and find another way to get ahead. They don't know how to play the game, as you have made it far too complicated for a general audience.

Sorry you're having troubles but...

you have made it far too complicated for a general audience.

... that simply isn't true. As for the FSDI, 9/10 times it works fine for me. There's the odd occasion where it flips out completely but in the main, it works ok. I understand there's people having continual problems but I wonder if that's more of a networking thing rather than a bug with the Interdictor itself?

There have definitely been some tweaks. Before GPP2 I could pull anything I wanted out of cruise in my Python. Now it's impossible for me to grab a type 9 or orca, but anacondas on down are still game.

What ship were you in?

As far as we know, the class and rating of the FSDi only determines the distance at which you can begin an interdictions.

There are three elements that seem to have the most influence on the success rate of interdictions: Distance, relative speed, and relative mass. If you want a guaranteed success, be in a larger ship, be going faster than the other ship, and be close to the target when you start. If you're in a small ship like a Vulture, you can still get larger ships but you need to be really close and be going faster than the target. This all assumes it doesn't glitch on you.

I am pretty general and I can figure it out! And if in doubt Google has never failed me. I think the issue is with people's patience as it is not what it once was and they expect instant gratification. Leave games such as Call of Duty to them and Elite to us.

What in there did I say doesn't happen? Sounds like it's working as designed and smuggling is now a properly risky career. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

I know what your saying. But my concern is after what I've seen with my friends, frontier will loose a great deal of market share due to over complicating things. Apple make increadably complicated products, but it is easy to use them. The game mechanics and ideas are great, but they must make it easy and intuitive for people to understand. I find it easy to play mostly, but I see that my friends get too frustrated and quit playing and say they will not pay for the full version!

Its fine to introduce complicated game Macanics. But rather than having people saying, "what the hell is going on here"? And "how the hell do I do that thing"? Why can't it be made simple so people say, "look at all the things I can do in this game"! And make it easy for them to achieve it to gain reward.

I know you say it's for die hards. But the shocking thing is, so are my friends?

My worry is that there will be so few people playing the game, that there will be no profit for frontier to continue updates and add on's anymore. Will we ever be able to run around space stations having adventures and escape in our asp? I think they will run out of money before this happens.

It's very hard to make complicated tasks very simple. I just find it frustrating that frontier have not thought about user interface mechanics and how the current state of the game reflects this. It would seriously effect their audience.
