Ladies & Gentleman for those of you not already in the know (shame on you) may I introduce officially the fastest rider and no.1 on the Leaderboard of MotoGP, the demo of which was used to launch Xbox Live all those years ago. Name immortalised by the developers in the game's credits, a true celebrity, legend, and you WILL all pay homage dammit! ..... I may be a little biased here, that game did take over my life for a while :D

Err, well if you and your friends have paid for the beta, you're all getting the full game for free like it or not! The one thing I don't like and I'm sure that it would help your friends, is there's no real tutorials or in-game help. It's all "go and watch these YouTube videos". Not good enough really.

I got so fed up of being interdicted (5 times in one system), i waited for the scan to see what happened. .. "you're clean be on your way"... uh?
As soon i got into supercruise, "target spotted moving to intercept"... interdicted, scanned, clean... repeat 3 times until make station, forgot i was actually carrying illicit goods (god knows how the plod scans missed it), and a nice little fine on the way into dock. Thanks.
Smuggling is slightly bugged, no arguments here.

They need to adjust the threashold a bit. Less than 10t of illegal goods and I think you shouldn't be harassed hardly at all. I can fully understand a tipped off police when im running 40t or 50t of illegal goods. But 1t or 2t should go more or less unnoticed.

Aye, after the collector bug wasn't fixed, I gave up the mining for a while and turned to smuggling. Liked the big payouts... and the charging around everywhere insted of short hop stuff. The new interdictions were a pain but I usually got the initial Security service message as I had fuel scooped and was about to jump to another system, so they were on the whole a bit pointless.

A couple of times I submitted to fed interdictions and just boosted away, once to be joined by a pirate chancing his luck I think. The frequency of the "Follow me, I may have something you're interested in." messages is definitely broken though... like 20 times a trip.
Once or twice last night I was pinged on the final docking run... boosted away and hit supercruise then straight back to the station for docking in peace...

I was taking on multiple missions though, and not all for the same system.

I agree! At first it was a pain, but today I ran 4 million in smuggling and wasn't stopped once! It does make it a little nerve-racking to know you could be interdicted at any time! Awesome job frontier!

After the update my 5mil FSD interdicter hardly EVER works. What is the point of spending hours getting enough cash to buy a good one and then make it almost impossible to use after an update.

You guys at frontier have made quite a mess of things. All of my friends, and I mean ALL of them who have bought the game before release have quit out of pure frustration. They all played the originals in the 80's and 90's.

The game is too complicated for them. And you keep changing the goal posts. Again you interfere with the rare goods and now they have to try and find another way to get ahead. They don't know how to play the game, as you have made it far too complicated for a general audience.

I have been a member of Xbox live for 10 years and I have never enjoyed playing a game with the established community so much, every game I have ever played aimed at "the general public" has a god awful community, that has no compunction upon spitting on you while struggling through the game. Were you playing one of these games (COD, BF4, GTAV etc) you would be told to stop playing or find new friends.

the elite community will aid you through your struggles even while pirating your load!

a lot of my "hardcore" gamer friends can't play this game, I stopped trying to convince them to play ages ago as they were adamant that the game was "boring", which I didn't understand because I was involved in huge multi ship dog fights.

if only we could post our videos on the live feed we would shut those nay sayers up in seconds.

one thing this game does not need, is to be made easier to access.

no offence intended.

fly safe CMDR

I accept your point of view. I think the game is absolutly fantastic with the community and more, but here is another example which was brought to my attention... after accepting a mission to deliver cargo. After traveling there, it simply denies you permission to dock, without any explanation. This just causes frustration. All that's needed is an explanation? I know you will tell me it's because the asp is too big or you need a permit or whatever, but it simply stops the gameplay in its trackes. Most people just want to get on with the game. They don't want to come way from the game and troll through the web for answers.

My point is simply this. Frontier will loose market share if they don't recognize all these frustrating flaws with playability.

Less players will Perchase the game and there will be no money for further development. And we'll ALL be disappointed!

It's simply a matter of common sense and a thing called a wide audience. I see the one established shrinking.

If you're being denied docking permission (it's at an outpost, right?) chances are all pads are full. Either wait for one to free up or save & quit, then join back. I know that's not your point, but that solves one problem for you.

Thanks for your answer. I appreciate it! And it is relevant.
Also you have ininvertly proved my point. Why can't Frontier simply tell the user that while trying to dock. Without and explanation It makes them get frustrated to the point they put the controller down and play something else....don't you think?

After the update my 5mil FSD interdicter hardly EVER works.

Yep, my attempts at doing pirate-sweeping missions are usually an exercise in frustration as I try to cycle my fire groups until one of them shows my FSDI isn't "out of range" for targets closer than 100Ls, which is about half the time.

It usually goes: target a ship, mash the FSDI which is "out of range" until they are actually out of range, then chase until I catch back up and Interdict at the exact same range they were out of range at before. Exciting.

I'm sorry but I can't understand why do people need signs, big red text and maybe some audio to figure out that they can't park their car to the same place where another is already parking. Are these the people microwaving their cats to make them dry? (Yes there's a warning for that...)

Ok, I'd originally wanted to be less harsh, but it just kept coming, sorry.

More to the point. I really can not understand this, because for me half if not more of the fun comes from figuring out what's what when playing ANY game (where applies). Exploring the game as it were. (Not talking about ED exploration)

Sometimes I feel bad after watching a yt video of a new feature (eg. a ship in ED) because I would have liked much more to discover it myself.

What in there did I say doesn't happen?
Oh, exactly right here.

I like it. They increased the mission payouts massively. More risk = more reward. You're exaggerating the amount of interdictions too. I don't get interdicted in every system and I certainly haven't been interdicted twice in one.

It seems the issues you have with reading comprehension extends to your own posts, as well.

I'm pretty sure interdictions are broken at the moment.
It's still beta. (Preview, whatever)
It's been reported on the bugs forum, but I can't find it now. Should go over there and add our experiences to the report, so they have a chance to be seen and fixed.

Prolly same thing about the overzealous security / rarity of proper missions.

Sounds like FD has instituted a leak (RP-wise) into the bulletin boards. I just hope it won't be this way for independent smuggling, although they could stand to increase the fine if caught. 937,000cr for smuggling 232 tons of Imperial Slaves when the profits are near 5000 per ton, isn't much. You still make a profit; not much of one, but then you aren't supposed to make any profit if you are scanned.

Interdictions: A must-read for people at the end of their tethers

So there have been a lot of threads lately with people complaining about interdictions, that there are too many of them, they can't be avoided etc etc. Would being interdicted a maximum of once per journey, per system be acceptable? Then read on. Before the recent update you could not be interdicted while your FSD was counting down pre-jump. This changed with the update; you now cannot be interdicted while your FSD is charging up either. Can you think of how this may be useful? If not, I'll spell it out...

  • Arrive in system and select your destination as per usual
  • Enter Supercruise, align with your destination and accelerate, again as per usual

Now you're on your way, awaiting the first interdiction of many that will drive you close to the edge of insanity. How do you avoid the seemingly inevitable? Easily:-

  • Open the navigation panel and select any random system to jump to. Doesn't matter which one so long as you're not looking at it when you close the panel
  • Charge up your FSD again
  • Whistle a happy tune while you ignore the 'Align with target destination' message
  • Smile as a bunch of NPCs line up behind you like ducklings following their mother, unable to do anything other than tag along for the ride

Of course, you're no longer locked onto your real destination so you'll have to be careful not to overshoot; that's a new problem I leave you to deal with on your own.
