Well if you think about it, word of mouth seems to be working just as fine. Maybe Frontier will shed out the millions later on, but for now everything here seems to be well enough. But I couldn't agree with you more nonetheless. Even though we get that one thread occasionally from a new player explaining how the game is too hard, imagine getting a whole slew of these. Suddenly thanks to Elite not being as simple as ABC, people go elsewhere and slander it. Remember the initial version of Elite when it was submitted to publisher? It was thrown out because it was not up to par when it came to simplicity. Elite has survived thanks to it's uniqueness and by the faith of it's loving player base. It's beloved by those who show great interests in it. So I can almost see why this game does not get the recognition it deserves, simply because it's brings to the table something completely different from the common video game. To the uninitiated, Elite has the capacity to deter fresh players who have not a single clue where to start. As for the rest it's a simple walk in the park. Regardless, the majority of Gamers aren't entirely ready to be introduced to another game far off the map from what they already know when it comes to gaming in general. So for now I say to save the money, and allow the players to refer Elite by word of mouth. It's safer that way, and it's cheaper.
