These God Rays I'm reading about... Rift Virgin no more.

This was Day 1 with the Rift...
Oh.
My.
God.

After coming from triple monitor, TIR5 and all the other toys- this is a totally new game to me.
Everything is different now.
I babbled the first hour I played, I was sounding like a little girl.....

I had read about these 'god rays'.. Never knew what they were.
Now that I had about two hours in the rift, I think I understand now.

Are these rays really just the distortion or haloing caused by the moisture or humidity from your face against the lenses?

I noticed when I played 'cold' I had no issues. But after a few minutes I noticed the effect, after the body heat and heat from the device increased. I even moved a fan near me to keep the air moving and to lower my temperature. Some help, but no actual solution. I played with the brightness, it kind of helped.. But no solution.

Are these these the god rays people talk about?
Simply fog on the lenses?

If this is the case, I will try some of the solutions I use when I dive to avoid, or at least mitigate the fog on my mask.

Or if I'm totally wrong on these god rays, please enlighten me.

oh yeah....
AND STILL NO ARSENIC!!

I'll check back tomorrow for replies.
I need my beauty sleep so I can get back in the rift in the morning.

The god rays are the 'beams' of light coming off objects in high contrast images. I only really notice them on the loading screen for ED. They are worst with white text on a black background.

I get the the same problem with sweat misting the first time I put the Rift, it doesn't seem to matter what the temp/humidity is, I still get it. I just give the lenses a wipe with the cloth and carry on.

I'm new to the Rift too. I've seen godrays in loading screens in other games. Is it just a loading screen issue?

It is present in the game in ED too, I notice them sometimes when I'm looking down in my (Clipper's) cockpit. The blue lights on the pilots seat give them off.
If you are both new to the rift, I would highly recommend the thread below for changing the cockpit UI colours. Changing from the default orange vastly improves the readability of text.

I changed my HUD to a blue color. The rays arent as bad, but they are terrible in white on black menus.

I've adjusted the way my rift fits to allow a little bit of space on my cheek area. My plan is to put a small fan in front of me and run it on low to keep the air flow up and hopefully lessen the fogging.

Next trick is to learn how to use the galaxy map. It's kicking my butt.
