This is what I got for 2.5 hours of mining

I did it because the game cost me very cheap and I'm enjoying it, what does it have to do with it? the arx are still intact, why do you do this all the time? by a +like??it's as if you dedicate more to the forum than to the game itself, how ridiculous ...
about spending on cosmetics, it's still ridiculous,in any game, and as dumb players have normalized it ...and please ,save yourself from keeping the server ... i play alone when i have time, its not miy real life,I bought the game thinking that one day they would do it offline because I read it, so I don't care

it's my opinion and if you don't like it for me you can continue shopping, it doesn't affect me ,it benefits me

People who are buying cosmetics, playing games, arguing on forums, or doing just about anything they choose to do are generally doing those things because they are gaining enjoyment from those things. Just because something is ridiculous for you doesn't mean it's ridiculous for them.

I think killing things seems to be the way to go. But We're not all bloodthirsty hooligans!

😉

Frontier apparently thinks we should be!

Free Arx are not a reward, neither is it about Frontier's generosity. It's there to "trick" you into spending money, that's it.

It's also a rather blatant way to incentivize, and thus shape, player behavior.

Whatever you say champion, you almost deserve to be taken down to the last cent, frontier and its 240 percent profit thank you.

It also does not surprise me, these business systems are not known for capturing very intelligent people

I used to play a game where I know a few people spent over ten grand (real-world money) on in-game currency. Thing is, it depends on 1) how much money you have to start with and 2) what else you have to spend it on. If you're on £250k a year and have relatively few hobbies, spending ten grand on a game probably isn't going to mean your kids are missing meals or your missus is dressed in rags, at which point it's a value judgement for the individual based on how much enjoyment they get from what they spend.

I mean I wouldn't do it myself but then I'm not in the position that I described above.
^^
This.

There is a current "game" that has been stuck in the purgatory loop of pre-alpha status for the last 6+ years. It boasts a global, rabidly over zealous fan base community which orbits a few megalodoon whale backers. Yet this "game" has become infamous for being the poster child of executive ineptitude and mismanagement. Here in the US, many of these whale fan boys live in very gentrified, high wealth enclaves the likes of San Francisco/Bay Area, Santa Monica, and Silicon Valley CA. This "game" apparently went P2W over a year ago with the likes of $27K whale ship packages. A drop in the bucket if you're a single, white collar professional living in said high wealth enclaves. Where the average IT professional salary is $110K - $130K+ USD for entry level college grads.

Possessing more money than common sense isn't necessarily a good thing. However whale fan boys with highly disposable incomes have the prerogative to dispose of said income in any way they see fit. Provided their spending habits don't impact the community's online game mechanic. Such as unbalancing game play with expensive P2W content and/or loot box performance enhancing features. Which provide unfair competitive advantages and ruin game progression for the gaming community as a whole.

The new Arx system is irrelevant to game progression as long as FDev restricts it to cosmetic only items. If players don't care for this feature, then ignore it. Just go about your business enjoying the game the way you did before Arx came along IMO.

OTOH allowing envy to make you it's new female lap dog? Feel free to go the extreme route that cuts off your nose to spite your face. Vote with your wallet by quitting the game and any future support for it.

Because the Arx phenomenon is here to stay. And the designated rate at which this feature is earned in game, remains the sole prerogative of FDev and not player community.

When you talk about those wealthy people I have a feeling you're jealous, correct?

What makes you think I have to be giving Frontier my money to not have a problem with people doing what they wish with theirs?

After 2.5 hours of mining and selling the minerals. Frontier, this is not "free ARX". This is an insult.

I don't feel rewarded for playing. I feel mocked.

I understand the need for funds for continuous development, as I have spent a considerable amount of money on the game in the past 4+ years. But this system is not an incentive to play. It's essentially mocking players when they exit their session. If you really think 2-3 hours of daily gameplay is worth this much then you simply don't understand how these systems should work. 400 ARX per week is low enough as it is, clearly not breaking your bank. At least let us reach it with normal, active gameplay. Make it an incentive, an encouragement to play. Or remove this insulting system completely.

When I give a gift to someone, I want it to be meaningful, regardless of financial value. But I wouldn't give a box of toothpicks as a gift. The current system feels exactly like that.

You got more than i did mining. Ive done about 8 hours mining since patch.
I have 40 ARX. Thats 5 an hour. You have earned 7.2 an hour.

2.2 MORE! than me..

Its outrageous.

Well, what you write?
... you only respond to what you want, I spoke much more before that,i have no problem with people spend money,my problem is
another, but I doubt you understand....you read what you want for your ingenious answer.
it must be quite sad to enter a forum to give replies to people, instead of exposing something, whatever ...you must be very tired of so many years in space, this is how it sounds for someone new.

and in defending these practices, I see that you contribute nothing from the consumer side, which is very stupid

No. I'm actually one of them as a professional engineer living in a wealth enclave here in the US.

Also speaking from gaming experience as a devout fan boy of different genre games the likes of TES, Fallout, Sims, GTAO etc. which aren't space sims like ED.

Thats so good, you made my Day.

Thank you.

Thats not an insult btw. , playing Multicrew is an insult.

Who said anything about not wanting to buy stuff? FD are banking, literally, on players wanting the cosmetics.
Not sure where you are coming from with this but - as nice as free arx are - they are a method to induce people to buy the packs. It's just good, old business. And fair play to FD.

I think you badly misunderstood what i was saying.

Of course, if you want to buy stuff you will buy stuff. And that is kind of my point. You buy the stuff you want, you don't buy the stuff you don't want. A few free arx won't change that.

I guess if they were planning on introducing Arx, FD should have offered a profession path for it. Like a Space Pirate, we could have an Arx Gatherer. Then, everyone would have been happy. Amirite?

Free Arx, and we cry. Horse's mouth thoroughly inspected, Sir.

I disagree. I think someone might think ‘ooh i have almost enough arx for that item but not quite. I can’t be bothered to wait another week, I’ll spend sone cash on an arx pack. ‘And i’m pretty certain thats the point of the free arx. It’s not altruism.

Makes business sense. And fair enough!

Sorry, but that is just nonsensical. Free Arx is like offering a discount, and discounts do persuade people to buy something whereas they otherwise might not. Some people will buy X no matter the price, some will never buy it. But many would buy it depending on the price. Lowering the price by giving some free Arx would entice people who might previously not bought it for the original price.

As Enderby says, there is nothing wrong with it. But to deny the effect is just... odd.

If you want something that badly, you would have spent the full boat anyway. The free Arx just for playing, helps your purchases go farther. This is certainly a glass half full/empty situation. If you're looking for the negative, nothing is going to shake you loose...

But then you are working on the assumption that they will never want to buy anything else ever again.

To follow up on your scenario, they would buy that item and have ARX left over. Then when something else comes along they want, they might have enough ARX to buy it outright without giving more money.

Your argument still seems to hinge on the idea that it will make people buy things they don't want to buy, or in the long term they will be losing money.

I agree, it is like a discount, but if i don't want a Cutter ship kit, i'm going to going to buy a Cutter ship kit even if the free ARX discounts it for me by 10%. Now, if the free ARX get it down to 90% discount, i might be tempted (if i had a Cutter of course).

It’s not a negative view, it’s a realistic view of the free arx system. It’s not a bad thing to do at all. But to think that it’s anything other than a marketing ploy is to be a little naive.
