Thoughts on VR adjustments

I have been playing Elite mostly with my Vive now and love it. One thing though that I do not like is the 'spinning' during a hyperspace jump, it makes me feel all nauseous :x From a cosmetic view, since the screen was removed from between the pilots legs there is a 'stump' that has odd geometry and you can see through it.

I recently had a play in a Sidewinder, anyone else notice the name of the book to the right hand side? ;)

Personnaly I LOVE that mild spinning in hyperspace!
Just like in real life you just have to let your body get used to free flight motions a little more.

The screen stump is annoying.

It would have taken a short time to strip the unwanted polygons out and capped the monitor stand. In my opinion, it reflects poor quality assurance in modelling/design.

The floating triangle decal on the floor of the Python (just behind the centre console behind and to the right of the pilot's chair, is another. Its off the floor by an inch or so.
Lazy, 'it'll do' work.

That little uncapped area has been there for a while, I've been playing in VR for about 5 months now and it's been there the whole time. As for the spin in Witch Space I too actually really enjoy it - I have a fairly iron stomach and don't ever get motion sick so it's rather fun to me. For those that enjoy it try this if you haven't turn off all your HUD (Ctrl+Alt+G) and when you're a few seconds in and the spin has started very slowly lean your head to the left (might be right, not at my PC right now). That little added movement of your head will intensify the effect and for me that's fun.

If you start crawling round the living room floor for a closer look, it is on what looks like a clear glass panel over the wiring.

Oh, really? Wow, I didn't see the glass... that's why it looked like it was floating. Cue crawling mode for me this evening!
Cool, repped.

Well it might actually just be a missing texture I don't know, like it seems a bit odd to put a glass panel there.

But it does seem like the decal thing is on a transparent surface because you can see the edges and such when you look at different angles.

It is really cool checking out the ship interiors in VR, I have never noticed that book in the Sidewinder before. :)

+1 and add a little northern lights to the mix and your tripping

HA! I have played around with a few music visualization apps, can't remember the names, while listening to my all time favorite band, Pink Floyd. Shine On You Crazy Diamonds and Breathe are epicly trippy in that way.

Another fun/cool thing to do in VR is get out of your seat while in the SRV and stand beside it - volia, you're standing on the planet/moon and depending on your tracking/cable length you can walk around a bit. My room is very small and I don't have Touch/extra Camera, I'd love to see how much you could walk around on a planet with that setup. A friend just got Touch/Camera and is an avid Elite player, I'll have to ask him to do this if he hasn't.

Have you walked around a landing pad while docked? Most of the floor decals are raised off the floor - poor show in my eyes.

Interesting, I haven't tried this myself but will soon. While it is odd that a few things like this get missed I don't really think it's that poor or big of a deal as no one was every supposed to see those things from that vantage point. I'm not sure how they'd get missed during 3D modelling but as I don't use those tools I'm not sure how hard that is to miss. The level of detail in things like the back of seats and components on the bridge behind a seat - where a very *very* small number of players will see, is very impressive to me. To my eyes Frontier gets the little details better than so many other development shops.
