An Elite: Odyssey action adventure of Rupee Noon 3308 08 05
0.) ALCOR SYSTEM / RAWN PROSPECT.
I made a shifty eye contact with my travel agent. I had went toward the regular hangar. But, I pretend I meant to go that way, and slowly trodded past Front Lines and Vista. Yes, very interesting. He was still gazing straight forward. Well he must have thought me the freshest newb who was ever outside the Pilot Federation District by mistake!
Maybe I was thinking the same at this point. These were my first TAKEDOWN missions anyway. So I was nervy.
But when I got picked up by Winter Fry with Apex Interstellar, down at the correct hangar bay, the sailing was smooth. Her small chat set my mind at ease, as I studied the particulars.
Upon the moons B, D, and F, of planet 9 - lain out like a string of pearls - stood Adley, Theodora, and Margaux. These were my marks. It it was my Rupee Noon's mercenary duty now to see that they should be all done standing, once and for all. They must have been very naughty
The engine whined as we approached a moon, and I studied down into my lap display. I took a loadout with my Manticore Executioner. That big old rig flings a ball of purple plasma. I might need that. And I paired it with Sneaky Pete, my trusty Karma P-15, upon the hip of my quieter footsteps maverick suit. Yeah that might come in handy.
We descended toward an agricultural settlement, which perched along the rim of a majestic crater in a well lit and regular tan and ruddy red area.
1.) 00:16m HE BO 9 D, CONDE AGRICULTURAL ESTATE - TAKE DOWN ADLEY GREENE.
The mark was atop the next building. She ducked the plasma ball automatically by just standing still. How did she do that? Of course I think I used the reticle wrong. It was more different from shooting cactoids than I anticipated. And now she was out of sight, on the move.
I pulled Sneaky Pete, tailed her across the building into the alley, and plugged her well and full of shots without any ceremony. I took to the rooftop near the landing pad and called Apex
00:19m As Apex descended, one of Adley's coworkers became frantic in the alley - I could see him the hill crest. But I tried to not act also frantic, and waved, as my getaway came in right on cue, on their own landing pad 09.
Planet nine's grandiose rings swoop like a rainbow across the black and milky way. And another ringed giant far away seems to crawl along it like a beetle while we come in. I was more relaxed after the success, ready to admire the scenery, I reckon.
The Apex driver winked and turned off the NO SMOKING sign when I produced a little passenger supply of 1T of Onionhead Gamma strain. And we both appreciated the scenery
2.) 00:26 HE BO 9 B / UDUIKE'S RESPITE - TAKE DOWN THEODORA DALE. SO.. I dunno if Theodora was as high as I was. She may have been on break, when I sighted her just waltzing matilda across a field. Over at the base of a little switchback, there she was like doot da dooo, studying her boots, waltzing matilda, when I tried to shoot her.
I crouched and pulled out my arc welder. Oops. I sighted her down the long gun, and correctly timed the bolt of plasma - it was close, but no cigar. It might have nicked the top of her helmet, or knocked an apple off of it. I shook the rifle and looked quizzically at the 1-800 number for quality.
There was no time. Theodora was a brave pilot, who became alarmed and ran right for me straightaway. So, I threw up my shields, and doled out good balls of plasma until one found purchase in the enlarging silhouette's navel.
Then as Theodora's seemed to float, at knee height, as if some kind of software bug, it did not connect with its stark shadow on the gray regolith in rest.
My next Apex pilot was a bit more boring; but the F moon was a beautiful ripple of blue and white hues. This ceased to apply as we landed in the dark farm.
3.) 00:41 HE BO 9 F / OTOEUME HORTICULTURAL FARM - TAKE DOWN MARGAUX TAYLOR.
When I pulled my arc welder this time, I really meant it. I traced Margaux to cowering in the AGRI building. I forced my way in the Northwest end. I had spent a suit battery and broken through two more doors by the time we met. AND I'd also hid from a small investigation of the damage. They were scientists, curious, I figure.
00:45 In the plant laboratory, greeted Margaux, and charged up my suit, for use beyond her concern. And she waved back. It seemed like we were all good - but she seemed confused. When she took 3 of 5 shots from the P-15, and fled through the automatic door deeper in toward the power plant. A bit of luck then, well I surprised myself by felling her with a sixth pellet out of the P-15. She crumpled, and then I pretended to blow the smoke off.
Then I Rupee Noon on official Alliance mercenary business, came under fire and pursuit, even before I even descended to floor 1. But in the end I threw up the shields, egressed, and bounded away toward the hills of Apex landings. I sang an ancient song known by my Terran Aunt, and danced with their most persistent skimmer. Oh, the things we do for a few reputation points!
