Time for some positivity, no dinosaur limit, or very high limit.

So it seems like we will be getting other franchise stuff in the game. Around 6:50 in the video they talk about it and the answer has me hyped for the 1993 JP park on Nublar. If that's true it's going to be sweet.

Also Frontier is publishing it themselves, they are developing it, funding it and self publishing. They are only getting assistance from Universal.

I so very much want a 1993 JP Nublar. I'm pretty sure I've never wanted anything more for a video game in my life.

This is just my prediction. But I believe Isla Nublar will be the sandbox mode but with a 1993 JP theme. I hope it has a day and night cycle.

Also it's hinted that the area we will be building our park on Isla Sorna will be an area we have seen before.

what if they're focusing on the movie story on Isla Nublar where dinosaurs run free after the eruption and ruins from both JW and old JP is on the island... would be a nice storyline if so where you can do whatever you want with the island. although this is just what i belive might happen

In the video they say specifically that there will be no day night cycle, I do hope however that one day we will get it and who knows it might be on Isla Nublar if that island would turn out to be a sandbox.

I wouldn't complain about a 1993 JP on Isla Nublar, but on the other hand I also wouldn't mind the actual JW park or the remains in JW:FK on Nublar. So far I'm not really digging the different timelines and so on. But I'll reserve judgment until I can actually play the game. It's probably gonna be awesome no matter what they're going for on Nublar.

So I was reading up on original JP out of curiosity, and dug up little fun fact. DTS was created with help and funding from Spielberg specifically for the movie. It's a stereo and surround sound technology you may find in many things these days including Elite Dangerous :)

Is that 100 dinos on 1 island? What is the limit? :p There has to be a limit, because PC and consoles can't handle more than a certain number of dinos.

I guess this is also kind of self-moderating element. You may as well have technically unlimited number of dinosaurs, but you don't have unlimited space. Plus they have to eat and there is only so many dispensers you can place in the enclosure.

I can see space will be an issue for at least two of the islands it will be a big issue, like Matanceros and the really small one. Matanceros is just a tutorial island, but watching videos I can see some usable space. Space management will be a big issue. Thinking about how to use your space efficiently will be interesting. That being said Matanceros isn't a really small island so I don't know why they didn't provide a little more space. Not as small as Pena. That island looks like it will the most difficult, of course this is what developers have said.

But I am sure Sorna will provide the biggest play area right behind Nublar.

I was positive when the first footage was shown, and being overexcited had a few issues where frontier have come up materially short.

I'm not ready to be positive again until we get new info, that's just as silly as thinking the game is doomed.

Like the idea of no Dino limit, or at least a very high limit. Nothing better than watching a big herd of Gallimimus running around their exhibit.

Wow. Watching that video first got me excited again.. but im really interested into what JWE really is. Without a day night cycle, this would more feel like an RTS campaign mode than a park building game. I still dont doubt there will be a sandbox mode somehow. Frontier aren't that stupid.

I love it how none of the devs mention JPOG ever, yet JPOGs core mechanics are 100% also done here. Even the UI is similar (in a blue paint HD reworked). Sensitive about something?

I haven't seen them mentioning it on their own, but in the IGN video they asked the animation lead about it and he acknowledged that it's an inspiration and some at Frontier even play it. He probably knows that it would be useless to deny it because it's so clearly not even a spiritual successor but an actual sequel. At least from what we've seen so far.

What is a "JPOG"? Please explain your initialisms on first use. One of my big bug bears is people assuming everyone else knows whatever random initialism they decide to throw in without explaining it.

Thanks,

Z...

It's Jurassic Park Operation Genesis - a previous dinosaur management game.

I think the problem is the dino freaks here expect everyone to know it, but I had to ask, too, despite the fact that I actually played it, ten years ago.

JPOG is a widely used acronym for the spiritual predecessor to JWE (Jurassic World Evolution).
Since this is a forum focussing on dinosaur games, and since JPOG is probably the most loved dinosaur game out there prior to JWE, its generally assumed that people know what they're talking about when they go to the effort of joining a forum on dinosaur games. Besides, google is fairly handy these days.

Don't be smug. Some of us are old and although I played JPOG a decade ago I forgot. My love for dinosaurs is a hobby, not a job.
Plus googling JPOG doesn't really help, try it and see.
