Horizons Time scale for the ability to walk around our ships?

This topic has been the only one bugging me since I bought horizons.. please Frontier.. tell me we will be able to see the insides of our ships before we get such another complex thing like landing on planets with atmospheres.
Even if it's just the ability to walk around our bridges/cockpits to start.. i can imagine it's such a smaller task then planet related mapping, clouds water etc.

Not this season, and no planning beyond this season is known.

Lol. Whats the point of having multi crews and player faces if we cant board friends ships and walk up to our seats? Someone should just let me volunteer at fd so I can sit at home and dedicate my free time towards it... since no one is :p it would add so much to the immersion!

I would hope that basic walkies mode will be in 3.0, like basic landies mode was in 2.0, if only so they can get the handling models of all 3 control modes (flying, driving, walking) set in place as foundation for richer development down the line. I'd expect them to put a lot of effort into the experience of walking around ships/surfaces the same way that the flight and driving models got the bulk of the love so far. If it's going to be season 4 or later I don't know what they're doing for S3.

I think atmospheric planet reentries/landings should have a priority of any kind of FPS mode.

For 2 reasons:
- We can already land on dead rocks. So why not "live" ones, and soon?
- Landing on planets is a core part of the game, FPS is well... just garnishing

It is my belief that this is will not be until season 4 at least. The reason being that there is so much content they will need to build.. For example ship interiors for every ship. Currently only the cockpits are built. That's a lot of graphics work right there... Not to mention the overhaul the stations will need.

It would take an incredible amount of work to create well-done procedurally generated weather worlds. A whole season in fact would be my guess, at least as much work to create the basic planet formation for the atmosphere-less planets we have now.

FP was one of the initial expansions of the KS. It will be delivered sooner than later.

You would be incorrect about the ship interiors. Work on those has been prepped for a long time.

I for one would love FD if they just put in basic walking around the ship and walking around the current barren planets (since this is basically just the same as SRV driving).

Stations and planets with atmosphere will require a shed load of work since they require NPCs, animation, new UIs, etc.

I'm in agreement with Metatheurgist on this. Much as I'd love atmospheric landings next year, I think a realistic assumption is 2-3 years from now. It's not just textures flight dynamics and slapping a few clouds down, potentially it will entail weather patterns, seasons, populated areas and cities. The mind boggles at what they would have to do to pull off planet Earth at 1:1 scale.

FPS elements will probably take considerably less development, and yet open up a wealth of new gameplay such as EVA, wreck salvage and investigation, boarding actions, infiltration missions, social areas and enhanced player interaction.

Perfectly put. As I mentioned before even if we had just the ability to walk around bridges/cockpits plus maybe the captain's quarters (in ships that would have the space for them) that would benifits players and FD for the simple fact of a live test of the physics, barriers, textures, and lighting. That way they have some player feedback if there is anything that needs to be improved for the full ship interiors.

^ it would be one thing being in an srv, but just imagine. Being able to step out your ship and look up at the epic-ness your piloting? Even doing an EVA out the man door on top of an anaconda. It would be the best "debug" camera you could ever ask for lol. Suspect a damaged thruster? Suit up and go look for yourself! :D
No more of that camera that can't get closer then 40' to your ship :p

If walking around the barren planets will be implemented, I think that players would want guns to shoot skimmers and other commanders walking around on those barren planets. People will want clothing, gear and weapons buyable at space stations and planetary bases. Especially if boarding another players ship will be a thing. Man I want to have an armory on my ship with gear to choose from. :DOtherwise my guess is that people will say it's just a dull and boring experience after walking around a bit.

It's a very old post, but originally at least the plan was next season:

Quality voice acting was another thing that people were curious about and got the team talking about the requirement for this in the future. Whilst there should be some voice acting at launch, for things such as station announcements and ambience, it is the update that will allow players to exit their ship where voice acting will become especially important
Sandy: We will need some form of voice acting and Voice overs, especially from update 2 onwards (when interiors and first person is available). However there’s a nightmare brewing here about the quantity and variety needed. This is a pretty major design/code decision that will need an extended meeting.
Michael: Yes, we will make sure there is appropriate voice acting.

 "Update #2"? Is that not the season we are in now?

As for what sergeantmarcel said I agree but so far we've been given betas before full release anyway so perhaps if we start with walking interior/exterior interaction or physics blah blah blah then they could add all the goodies after they've fine tuned the general mechanics of FPS.
Or make it a 2 or 3 stage beta with one stage being added after the other has been verified and tuned.

The suit we are in now seems to hold up well with blown a blown canopy so I would guess it would be OK for a starter.

As for the interiors I hope they add a captain's quarters type room like mass effect had on the Normandy and just adjust the size dependant on the vessel. There we could do all the player customizations from armor to weapons. To trinkets like bobble heads or something different.

I'd assume in 'update' terminology: the base game = "Season 1", update 1 = "Season 2", and update 2 = "Season 3". (Simply because it doesn't make sense to refer to the initial season as an update).
