Time to nerf exploration!!

Nerf the graphics back to 1984. Wire frame ftw!

Textures are overpowered. ;)

Actually, they have gotten somewhat of a nerf over time here and there, distant world surfaces in particular from what I've seen. I'm hoping Q4 more than makes up for it though.

To be fair, there were no textures in the Amiga version of Frontier: Elite 2 either, but at least the polygons were filled in with flat colours :)

So far the nerf gun has been taken to cargo delivery, war massacres, pirate massacres, passenger missions and almost every other way to make a decent amount of credits.

It is now time to nerf exploration to fetch it more in line with the terrible rewards for everything else. Especially the Road to Riches, it's pretty stupid that humanity keeps paying for the same scans of the same systems, it makes no sense whatsoever.

I propose the value of every stellar body be brought to 25% of what it is currently, explorers have had it so easy lately it's almost an exploit.

Agreed time to cap the number of systems that can be stored to say 10?

Wake up cmdr! You're dreaming again!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that what the OP has missed out is that R2R is in NO WAY Exploration...any more than skimmer clubbing is "combat"
Its a shortcut for money that exists and I don't think anybody would complain if that loophole was closed...
Perhaps the Payout for a scanned body could drop 0.5% or 0.1% every time it was scanned...it would rapidly drop down the payouts for Terraformables close to the Bubble without affecting Exploration payouts significantly...

I'm not going to read even the starting post, or anything else than the title. It is enough. To give me a hearty laughter! Oh man... Really like the exclamation mark in the end! PRICELESS!!! :D

If thats the cause just cap everything at 10. 10 cargo. 10 passengers. 10 ship kills etc etc. People leave exploration alone. No other job in elite takes as long to get the same credits.

Nope sorry.

Speaking from the personal experience of travelling to Semotus Beacon and back via SgrA*, Colonia and the Great Anhilator... I handed in well over 200 million in explo data in under an hour and that felt a bit too exploity for my liking.

Explorers should be limited to 5 scanned systems before they have to return to port and turn in their data.

Did you just double down on my 10?

That's way harsher [yesnod]

No matter the view on the money-grind, a new account shouldn't be able to buy an A-rated anaconda after 5-6 hours of playing. There is saying that the money-grind should be either faster, a bit more engaging or both - but there also needs to be a sense of accomplishment.

Are you crazy?

Did you ever go exploring before the last update that increased the payout's from scanning system's and bodies within those systems?

The payout made Exploration the WORST form of credit earning in the game, which is why it was buffed.

Now when the game released on the PS4, I did abit of the road to riches, got myself enough credits from it to buy an Asp Explorer and Grade 5 FSD upgrade from Felicity Farseer, I then went out to Beagle Point and returned in the first week of the game releasing on the PS4, and I made a grand total of around 100m credits from that trip, and that trip took 16 hours a day for a week solid.

The Road To Riches may have helped, but I would have been able to do that even without it, as it's not hard to make money in this game when you know what your doing.

All these nerf's to the game is seriously making me think about whether I should even bother playing the game anymore, because what is the point in playing the game if some little cry baby is going to come along and complain that someone is making 100 credits more than them in an hour and that method needs to be killed off, just because they don't want to do that method, or that someone is having more fun than them so Frontier need to remove that part of the game to stop them having fun because the cry baby is not having as much fun.

So many good replies to the OP can't rep them all, but in summary...

Nooooo to the OP.... have you lost your mind?

You can get an Anaconda in less than a day even without the road to riches, people have been doing it for a long time, just look on youtube there are plenty of guides on how to make enough credits inside of a day to get one, it's not hard but obviously someone else wanting to do something that makes them money in the game, enough to have a good ship is stupid so "Kill it, Kill it" stop them from getting that decent ship because not everyone wanted to play the game that way.

Point made and understood but I doubt you're being serious.

Road to riches is what? 20-25 million an hour? An A-rated conda is close to 2 billion... so you're looking at a hundred hours, and the road would end well before you make the 2 billion anyway... not to mention that playing it safe will increase your time-frame, and you need a little setup to make it work.

The skimmer exploit could give you an a-rated conda using a sidewinder (the first few rounds would by you the missile pods), and you could do it a single sitting and with no risk. I mean, if it was left in the game you might as well just do away with ship purchasing mechanics altogether.

Yep now i know your joking. An hour to get all that way while scanning and back 😉. But its true you can hand in the data in under an hour. Unlike early game where it took over an hour just to turn in the data.
