To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

Non sequitur. Why would you block anyone who had an unpleasantt encounter with you. They might block you, if anything.
I have an extremely crowded friend list with all kind of players including PvPers and PvEers (even explorers) on it, thank you for asking.
I hope you are satisfied with my post now.

Some may block, others add me to their friends list and ask for advices, which I always give. a few people I have helped in train and we keep in good contact to this day. It all depends on your approach to the game.
Once I ganked a guy in Wyrd ( in 2019 iirc). He had just started to play on PC (he was on console before). I recruited him to the PvP community, he joined our squadron and he was playing on our team in the RoA league in 2020. He became one of the very best PvPers (like top 10, seriously) by the 2v2 biweave league of 2021 where he was playing on one of the NATO teams.

Sure. Some can appreciate it. We're talking mostly about those who don't, and certainly don't come up to you after being had and make sheep's eyes at you. Again, playing entirely within the rules, you have the freedom to show your true colours and others will react to it in their own way. Expecting everyone to endorse any kind of behaviour just because the game permits it is just hubris.

I think the whole setup is a psychological ruse. Game developers know their clientele and gankers are forever trapped in a very primitive trigger-reaction scheme which makes them extremely predictable. Regardless how sophisticated they may deem their battle techniques, what sets them in motion is always the same. A game which gives them a playfield functions as a honeypot they can't resist. An adult's social skills are determined by how well they control themselves, not by testing the limits as kids do. You are free to show off your best side, or your worst. Those who just can't help their urges make themselves known inevitably. I find it highly amusing watching the same folly in different games.

Haha ship go boom.

Gankers? Are you serious? As somebody who was once a member of BRNN, but got the out as soon as possible, let me tell you about how truly evil and depraved gankers are. During ganker Training, we were forced to this chant before blowing up newbies: "If they're harmless, make them pennyless!" At deciat, we fired at both harmless targets and mostly harmless targets. Half the targets were unarmed, and half the targets we were supposed to shoot at were innocent AD players holding merits. We were supposed to shoot at any target, regardless of whether it was armed or unarmed, whether it was an elite or harmless. The only time in ganker Training we were allowed to watch OA was when the news showed reports of jnnocent traders being "accidentally killed" in mail slots. We were forced to scream "yes!" every time the news mentioned an innocent commander being killed. As soon as I saw how truly evil and depraved gankers were, I GOT OUT. I went straight to the leaders and told them I didn't want to be part of their federal terrorist organization. I told them that I REFUSED to kill innocent commanders, and take part in unjustified wars of aggression. The leaders responded by pinning me on deciat and shooting me with mining lasers for ten minutes straight. They told me that I wasn't leaving and that if I ever tried to speak up against their hate and bigotry again, they would murder me. I took matters into my own hands, and jumped to colonia at night while the gankers were asleep. I ran away from the system I was at, and have not returned to this day. Every Time any commanders expresses admiration for the gankers, I VOMIT. I was in for long enough to see that the federation is a ganker supremacist terrorist organization, just as bad as the 5'cers.

🤷‍♂️

do you mean unengineered shields and some boosters that last 10 seconds before you hi-wake?
it's your choice whether you want a ship that is resilient but little less efficient, or whether you risk making more money by reducing your safety.

EZ
Engineering "gameplay" is most irritating grind there is. Been there done that. Besides that "resilience" seriously gimps traders and explorers if you really want something that is not on its last legs after highwake. Basically ganker minigame means that earn your money and do other PVE stuff in solo or PG, open is just for bragging rights.

Hahahahaha, gtg now, there will be a regular wingfight event soon with the participation of the remaining few BRNN dudes. :)

Just because you can't build a proper ship it doesn't mean a 'resilient' ship is seriously gimped

Will it lose some cargo or jump range? Yes (less than 10%)
Will it survive a faceplant into a planet or a borked NPC interdiction? Also yes.

So what are you talking about? The same min maxed building everyone always calls out the gankers for their combat ships?

Gankers' FDL's are seriously gimped, too.
A real FDL has c1 fuel tank and 2D FSD! 🤣

(I recall a league match where instancing was so ed that it seemed literally impossible to anchor all 8 people in the same instance. Those who managed to get in were patiently watching their gradually drying fuel tanks, wondering if they can survive until the start of the match.)

Somehow minmaxing combat ship is perfectly good and proper, for certain playstyles.

I'd suggest that those seeking PvP are actually best served by a PvE mode.

If we had a PvE mode, then everyone found in PvP will give those players much more of what they want, a good fight, and they could be certain that their scanners would be full of like-minded CMDRs.

So the PvP wants are best served by having a PvE mode. Even for those role-playing as psychotic murder pirates, as the traders they happen upon will be up for a good tussle.

There, all our worries solved, and we can end the thread on that happy note.... I'll call David on Monday to put the wheels in motion.

This liner is in the top 1% of all liners out there.

This would make it very difficult to pull off the classic random gank/sealclubbing, while still allowing powerplay PvP , wars and piracy to continue unhindered. Sure, it wouldn't protect against everything (shooting someone's drives off 1km above an engineer base, for instance, will let gravity do the dirty work for you) but for people worried about ganks it'd be better than nothing.
As far as I'm aware, powerplay PvP is not a thing, BUT it should be.
Restricting PvP to declared powerplay combatants would be a great improvement.
