To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

Disabling PvP with a toggle is not the solution.

Making some activities, or leaving some game mechanics, tied to specific game modes it is.
I could live with pvp enabled for all in anarchy systems or powerplay. To be honest I would even remove the possibility to influence powerplay in solo or private groups (but that's a different topic).

There are many possibilities to satisfy pve and pvp players.

Before buying this game, anyone knows exactly what the modes are in and what you can expect from the game.
by paying for the game you agree to the Open/PG/Solo modes and what this represent.
trying to drastically change game modes is unfair to all players who bought it for one reason or another.
I don't think adding this would be a drastic change, indeed it was argued that Horizons with engineering, when introduced, was unfair to those who had bought the base game.

And, I'll repeat, we still hear the same suggestion time and again from people who have bought it 'knowing what to expect' from Open/PG/Solo modes.

Indeed, there's plenty of combinations... on one side there are the players' needings, on the other the risk that other players exploit game modes for their interest.

That's what needs to be addressed.

They could stay in pvp mode and enjoy good fights with other pvp players

I'm not saying pve mode should be the only one. More the option between
Pvp mode
Pve mode
Private group (as it is now)
Solo mode
Many people here forget that many (probably the majority) if people that currently use open mode do so for the variety and potential danger it brings, along with the potential cooperation (it does happen). Open mode does not mean fighting mode.

Why?

We all bought a game where PvP is an entirely optional extra that is not required for any game feature (except CQC) - even if some players can't accept it.

SWTOR had PvP servers for the Open World. Afaik they were shut down. They were consolidating regions on them when I played the game. It's an unsustaining audience in many cases - especially with predominantly PvE audience.
Exactly.

PvP games are usually developed specifically with PvP in mind, like FPS games. Most FPS games are extremely "carebear" about it - you don't lose gear, XP, money, or anything when you die. You just respawn and continue playing. There are exceptions like Escape from Tarkov but they're nowhere near as popular as the Battlefields and Call of Dutys.

With MMORPGs it's even worse. They've been tried and they've been abandoned.

Games that don't feature the gank-style "PvP" found in ED are more popular. It's been true for over 20 years now. One might want to argue WoW, but WoW largely abandoned that whole idea.

Interesting that new starter systems (that more experienced players cannot access) were introduced a while ago - I wonder if it was as a result of the activities in the previous non-permit locked starter systems....
It all depends on who you consider as a new player. If someone reaches for excamle Deciat in Anaconda he is not a new player as some people claim. regardless of combat rank.
I'm not opposed to startup sytems in their current state.

Because.

Sorry but I am tired of reading your replies to an argument that you clearly don't like (PvP).

Edit (had to blow up an enemy ship at the CG whilst was typing): to be clear, OPEN is not PvP (whilst PvP is OPEN, as works this way) despite the number of threads where several users have tried to explain [and got tired as well by the solo/PG forum brigade]. OPEN means a LOT of more things and activities that are OPTIONAL as everything else in the game (playing videogames is OPTIONAL as well) and if you don't understand that at this point, I am afraid but it is a you problem.

Threads like this are started because there are some players asking for changes, as the game changed quite a lot since the day 1.

Just consider the amount of credits we have and we can earn so fast that no one should even care about eating some rebuys.
