To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

Statistics and some data uploaded to some website is a academic discussion. The preference how to deal with ganking is a personal one. You said you were ganked...what?...4 or 5 times in several years? Nice! Seems you don't play your so called MMO game not together with other players that much. Go and participate at some CGs. In open please. And not on console. Then you will know about how many players are ganking. Yes, outside of CGs and some engineer systems gankers or other players in general are seldom. But if you talk here about ED being a MMO then the adequate playstyle were to play there where many other players are.
I've participated in plenty of CG's.

Many of the CG's are competitive...pick a side and it's weapons-free! That's NOT ganking.

I'm waiting for someone here to actually produce a real number illustrating how many people are playing per day on the regular, and out of that how many have been ganked.
There is no publicly available data relating to the total number of players playing on any day, nor how many ganks take place.

That's a pretty excuse for ganking.
Many CGs aren't competitive and yet people go and gank.
No CG is won with ganking.

I'm a staunch PvP proponent but at least be honest that you just want to blow up others.
It has nothing to do with sides on a CG, just that there are targets aplenty.

So far I'm the only one who can illustrate with some sort of metric however incomplete.

It's a sample.

Not much ganking going on relative to the population.

Doesn't seem to be a great concern of FDev either.
This mis-characterises the debate.

Ganking isn't rampant; no-one says it is. I never* get ganked and I don't care about ganking.

The reason I never get ganked is the precautions I take.

All the salt seems to flow from other players who don't want me to take those precautions. :)

* Unless you count blocklist maintenance while flying the Sidewinder "Griefer Blocker" in Deciat.

OK, mate. Seems I have to explain everything very detailed for you. Of course I am not talking about combat CGs, sorry for my unprecise wording. I mean the CGs with one side and hauling cargo, like for example the last 3 Colonia Bridge Initiative CGs.

I actually have never blown up anyone in a CG who wasn't trying to blow me up. :)

Solo, Private Groups and a beefed up block function

EDIT - Oh and btw, I'm fairly certain the experiences of ganking are fairly different when you are piloting a murderboat vs when not doing so.
Where, anywhere, has it been stated that implementation of such is in response to a game-wide ganking problem? Other than, maybe, the block function which has more to do with griefing as I understand it.

I'm not familiar with blocking at all.

No matter how often or how rare ganks are. They are a problem for some. The tools to avoid them (Solo/PG/Block) are existent. Deal with it.

If they weren't there, seal clubbers would abuse the lack of avoidance and FDev would lose potential skin buyers.

I asked if FDev has ever publically stated that ganking is a problem within their game. They haven't to my knowledge.

Blocking has been beefed up since it's inception, the mere existence of solo and pg's, (which all always have done and continues to affect the background simulation), speaks volumes. Frontier believe nobody, NOBODY has to spend their leisure time with those they do not wish to spend it with. If the opposite was true, solo and PG's would not exist, neither would block - or it would be comms only - and PVP would be a rewarded in game activity instead of an unrewarded one......how many 'messages' or 'hints' do you need?

Which doesn't mean it's not a problem for anyone and also isn't a reason to deny or play down the existence of the impact on players who would have issues with these.

Sure, nevertheless some people will complain about anything. You don't manage a product around those folks.
