Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Is anyone else getting an error every time you use your FSD? Each time I drop into a system, I get an error box popup. I'll submit a bug report and attach the error file, as well as a screen shot in the email, and post the actual error on here too as soon as I do another jump and take a screen shot.

Hi Eventure

I cannot auto-upgrade from TCE v1.6.8 to v1.6.8.1. TCE just sits there saying "Downloading New Version - Please Wait". Nothing is downloading however long I wait. Also I cannot close TCE except through Task Manager. Tried this multiple times.

I was getting this until i verified and repaired my db. it found that my bookmarks were wrong. the repair took me from 4 bookmarks down to 2. maybe duplicates? but haven't had this since i did that verify & repair.

strongly suggest making a backup of your db first.

Please check, if you AV is blocking the download or the update tool. Another user had the same issue and he reported his solution here.

No joy I am afraid. Closed my AV program and still the same. The progress bar just above "Downloading New Version - Pleas Wait" just stays blank and no download activity on my network monitor. The auto-upgrade has always worked in the past. TCE also goes into a wait state and can only be closed through task manager.

Hi Eventure,
I am not sure what the scan protocol is for? But I prefer the way it was before, when only the window frame for taking a picture popped up after a scan. Now I have to select take a picture at the scan protocol panel before I can take it. This is a bit annoying, because of the extra selection. Also I think the information there is already shown at the cartography panel.

And I think the scan protocol is not working as intended, since it does not show the information of the last scanned object. Also it doubled the first entry after I selected different headlines.

But may be I just don't understand how it works and use it in a wrong way.

Regards
Homunk

Then it must be an access issue, where your Windows didn't allow TCE to create a folder at the global TEMP folder. This is done before starting the download of the update.
Please give TCE admin access and check, if this fixes the problem. I have nothing changed at the Auto-Updater for some versions, so on the TCE side, nothing has changed.

Hi there,

the Scan Protocol panel is introduced to the review the incoming data from scans as soon as the data arrives. It gives you a quick information about the object, you have scanned.
This is, from my point of view, reasonable, especially with NavBeacon scans, where dozens of object data comes in at the same time.

Yes, you can review the data also at the Cartography panel, but this takes more time to open/close the panel every time for an object, especially if you have a large (50k+ objects) cartography database,
so I want to compress all scan data for a session into a quick review panel, the Scan Protocol panel.

The last scanned object is not automatically selected, but this could be added without a problem. You have to select the object, you like to review and to assign a picture, if required. Not everyone adding a picture to an object.
I find it a little irritating with the auto-popup of the Camera panel, after a scan, most users didn't know what to do now with the empty frame in front. So I decided to add a button to the Scan Protocol panel,
so the user are able to see, how the entry looks like at the Cartography, and then the user can decide to add a real picture or stick with the default picture for the object.

I will add more default pictures for all types of scanable objects while the Cartography panel get also an upgrade with the upcoming updates of TCE.

Your comment "Also it doubled the first entry after I selected different headlines." I didn't understand, what you meaning, can you give me a screenshot or something? It's maybe a bug, I like to fix.

I like to hear also from other users, how they like or dislike the new panel, or what could be better. Speak to me, any suggestions are welcome.

What I meant was after I scanned the first object and it was shown at the panel, I clicked on various column titles, like "name", "class" and so on. With each click the line with the scanned object was duplicated. So I have now 3 or 4 lines with the same object.

I hope this explains it better now. Unfortunately I can't give you a screenshot ( no luck with uploading one).

In my opinion it would be less confusing, if on automatic opening of the scan protocol, the last scanned object is selected and its data shown.

And please make the camera panel appear automatically again after a scan. I take pictures of all objects I scanned. It would be fine if configurable, so others are happy as well.

Thanks
Homunk

Thank you Eventure. That was the information I needed to resolve the issue. I checked my Win 10 Global User Temp folder and there was a TCE folder there with some files in it. So I deleted the folder and ran TCE auto-update again, which this time went as smoothly as previously.

So TCE had partially downloaded the update previously, not finished it for some unknown reason, and then could not restart the update download on retries.

All is well now and thanks.

Yes, now I found the problem. Will be fixed with the next update, I add also an option to choose between the new panel and the Auto-Camera frame. No problem and thanks for the input.

Oh, okay, thanks for the info. Will remove the temp folder, if existing, before starting the download.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

...and another one, when jumping into my first system:

...which helpfully made TCE take focus away from the game, I lost joystick control, and almost flew straight into the arrival star

Please verify your bookmark database, there could be an error in it.

Ah yep, should have noticed that: 5 entries originally, nothing displaying in TCE. Verify failed and Repair reduced it to 2.

Interestingly though, this verified fine yesterday. I wonder what screwed it up?

Version [1.6.8.3] released

Changelog:
- Fixed another service icon issue at the old Summary panel and the Trade Overview panel.
- Fixed an issue with the star system names at the Scan Protocol panel.
- Fixed an issue with the proper detection of dual economies.
- Fixed an issue when creating a bookmark at the Navigation panel.
- Replaced the Distance column with a Time column to be able to sort the data entries by time at the Scan Protocol panel.

Notes:
Either download the version above, install and transfer your old database, or use the auto-update function of the launcher.
Click the 'new version' notice at the bottom of the launcher.

If you find an error, please report and use the Report a Bug button at the launcher and don't forget to copy the error details and ErrorReportFile.7z archive.

I like to remind any user, who wants to use TCE in french, spanish or russian to help in translating the
latest interface phrases, common commodities and rare commodities at OneSky. Thanks in advance.

Hi Eventure,
just tested a little bit version 1.6.8.2.
Thanks for the option to use the camera panel as before.
It seems, that the actual scanned object is not always the one, selected at the scan protocol panel.
A small request: Can you add a shortcut for the scan protocol? So it can be called or hidden with a command.

Thanks
Homunk
