Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Yep fixed the new star system, sol issue as well, panic set in for a while thinking my DB was going to be no good again.

Thanks for a great program and mega fast updates. Hope you get some game time too.......

(*sigh*) Whimper...
Yes, my old database if corrupted and everything I had saved is gone (this was about 2x what the default install had). Oh well. My own stupid fault.

I didn't have such an issue here, so it could be a problem with the data of the panel.db file. Please check the values within or send it to me.

Still happening in 1.1.0 - So I guess I'll give you my db, here it is

BUG WITH EliteOCR

It's one of those bugs that happens occasionally. When editing prices during EliteOCR scan you can sometimes get this error. Then you have to quite TCE and restart the scan, changing prices then doesn't cause the error. Like I said it happens sometimes.

Problem happens whilst changing prices during scan

Couple of bugs

Hi Eventure

Having a great time using 1.1.0. I've noticed a couple of minor bugs however.

After having used TCE for a while I suddenly get the error message below when jumping to a new system. Clicking OK clears it and then TCE proceeds as normal as shown in the second screen shot. However from then on every new system entry generates the same error. Restarting TCE cures it for a while but then it happens again eventually. As I am doing the CG at Okinura I haven't tested it too much outside this locality so it may possibly only effect a few systems.

When setting a trade destination in the Navigation Panel the Waypoint automatically shows but then does not clear properly and persists on screen no matter what I do. Restarting TCE clears it.
Trade.jpg

I have the 3 Panels Waypoint, Credits and Summary along the bottom of the screen. When the above error occurs the title bar for Credits also disappears as you can see from the screenshot.

Here is my latest Db

Some data issues

BEVANS HOPE should be BEVAN'S HOPE
BOTH ARE PRESENT IN THE DB

WIDOWS LIGHT SHOULD BE WIDOW'S LIGHT
BOTH ARE PRESENT IN THE DB

QUESTION:

When I have to use EliteOCR when EDMC doesn't connect to the API, where (if it's available) is the .csv file with the trade data? Or do I have to manually scan with EliteOCR itself to create the .csv to upload to EDDB?

QUESTION:

When I have to use EliteOCR when EDMC doesn't connect to the API, where (if it's available) is the .csv file with the trade data? Or do I have to manually scan with EliteOCR itself to create the .csv to upload to EDDB?

There are some star systems with a missing apostrophe (') in it's name, because the EDDN star system data doesn't contain such chars. So if you find one, rename or delete the system, if there was a double entry.
The upcomming V1.1.1 update will hold an additional fix, so the renamed system is recognised by TCE afterwards.

The EliteOCR data is found at the OCR_Export folder of TCE.

Don't know, if I have found the error, but I added a better error report.
With the "above error" in your last sentence, you meaning the first error or the second?

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear - it relates to the second error i.e. the one concerning the Waypoint Panel

Loving the additional database entries, however it seems to have exacerbated an issue I've had all along with TCE but never mentioned as it wasn't really a huge issue and I figured it A)wasn't unique and B)would be fixed any day now. However, it is now untenable and making TCE virtually unusable, or at least very dangerous to use.

Whenever I jump into a system and go to update my star data (thankfully I don't have to enter as many coordinates now, just "Scanned" and "Type"), once I hit "Save" I get the spinning cursor and my entire screen goes black except for the TCE overlays. Previously, this lasted only a couple of seconds and I was back in-game, no problem. Now - and I'm guessing it's because of the dramatically increased database size and corresponding additional time to process - my screen stays black for almost 30 seconds before I am back in game.

Normally, I open the star data screen, start to enter the data, save, and jump. Last time I did that, I almost lost my ship because I was in the new system pointed at the star and couldn't see it for another 20 seconds until TCE finished processing. Once it was done, I was fine again.

Is there any way to suppress the screen blanking while processing and let me still see and interact with Elite? I'm using dual 960 FTW nVidia cards and a 3-monitor Surround setup - I don't know if this is a non-issue for single monitor users, but it's frighteningly problematical with my setup. I've got 16G of RAM and an SSD with a Xeon processor - I can't really speed things up hardware-wise any more than it already is.

I accept that it will take longer to process data with the quadrupled size of the database (although since it's now stored in a SQL database, or at least I think it is, I'm kind of surprised this is the case - I'd expect that more from a flat-file database). But I cannot accept the extensive black screen while saving data. I WILL lose a ship one day due to this issue.

Please, Eventure - you're marvelous at maintenance on this program, and I rely on it so very much in-game - please can you address this TCE-killing issue for me? I'll supply any information/files you require for analysis. I'm using TCE 1.10 now.

Respectfully,

...DJ

Thanks for your report.

When hitting SAVE, you doing the update of the star class and exploration status with the Star System Database panel, if I correctly understood.
Please try to use the Navigation panel for such actions, because it is quite fast and you don't have to hit SAVE.
Meanwhile I will check, how to process the data in a fast way through the Database panel.

Don't suppose you have a massive database just laying around? :)

There's an interesting thought, none of us are using crowd-source-data, therefore nothing could really be wrong with it. What if we all shared our Database files with each other through Dropbox? Could TCE handle the size? Do you think it would be beneficial for all? I think it would help out foxpur.

Do you think of a revival of the FTP option, like in Mk.I?
Or a public place, where databases are stored from users, which can be downloaded by others?
Otherwise it would lead to a crowdsourced database like EDDN.

Could be a Google Drive Folder

A submit folder and a compiled weekly update Folder

When updates are posted the submit files are cleared...

I wouldn't want it to be tarnished like crowd sourced data is. I was looking at the option of using dropbox, or google drive, one drive, the options are various, to store based on a link in the forum, access to a users database for the purpose of providing someone else with the data.

It could be construed as being crowd sourced, but if you are like minded, you are using TCE because of it's accuracy of information. Albeit at a snapshot in time, I've not used OCR since EDMC became available, I find the source much easier to use and more accurate.

So if I could benefit in this, and assist others with a step up, I don't have a problem with it.

CROWD SOURCED DB BACKUP FIXED:

Share your DataBase with others: (CLICK HERE TO SHARE YOUR BACKUP)

Get the latest Compiled Group DB: (CLICK HERE TO GET THE LATEST GROUP SHARED DB)
This is a manual update at the moment, around weekly as thing get regular. It will show you when the last update was on the this link. BUT... IF we get any updates I will let you know.
(this is the default so you won't get anything new yet)

Note: Just because there has been a updated compiled database update DOESN'T mean you will get anything out of it if the users that have sent their latest updates haven't sent anything you didn't already send in. Now this would be UNLIKELY and I will attempt to make sure that any updated database SOME sort of change since I will be adding them together.

I choose not to use crowd sourced data. I get the others may want an 'easy button' and that is up to them, although there are already 50,000 (exaggeration) other ways to do this. I thought of TCE as a bit unique as it was a way to build your own db as you make your way through the galaxy.

As long as TCE has an option (the ftp idea) to opt out, I don't see it as a big deal. If Eventure wants to spend time working on it, that's his prerogative.

I have got what I think is a fairly dumb question about updating TCE. Currently when Eventure issues a new Installer package, for example 1.0.9 how does everyone do the actual install? I have been going into the TCE folder and copying out the DB folder to my desktop and then doing the install and then using TCE to import the DB from my desktop. Does everyone do the same or am I doing it in a weird manner? :D
