Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Just started playing again after some time off. Found this little gem and installed it. Thanks much for making this available eventure.

Have a quick question regarding the route finder. While using Inara best trade routes I get the most profitable ones that are close to me. When I use the route finder with TCE I'm presented with trade routes that are some distance away from me.

I would assume it's something I'm doing wrong but looking for help with this.

Thanks.

The results displayed are based on the filters/settings set and your database. Remember that TCE receives the data from Spansh's nightly dumps, which are only updated every 24 hours. Therefore, it is of course possible that INARA still has current data via EDDN and thus achieves slightly better results.

Another factor is that TCE only processes the data via TCE Relay that can be used on the star system database provided by TCE and thus the markets contained within the star systems. Therefore, I have introduced the function of adding star systems that are currently unknown to TCE via TCE Relay. This gives you significantly more data to process, which in turn leads to more and closer trade routes like those suggested by INARA.

I have a small problem with TCE & EDMC not finding commander. I have 2 E:D commanders.
Any help would be appreciated. See attached first post.
Cheers
Cmdrs Hobson's Choice/Ragnar Reborn.
So. I have two E:D accounts both Oddysey.
First acct. One is my original, since O:D Beta release, now nearing Sag A on a long exploration drive.
Second account.The other is a few years old, just revisited, now trading and building reputation (and credits).
I have set them up by installing to 2... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/trade-computer-extension-mk2-edmc.627708/

The trade data is grossly outdated, the newest is at least 100+ days old
This statement depends a lot on your position in space. If you are in a region of space where there are only a few players and station data is not shared, then this may be true. TCE is not responsible for the data and its age. In the region where I am, the data is current, sometimes less than a day old.

In the bubble, I have dozens of stations with updates less then one day. The problem is, which one to choose 🙄.
Not wishing to offend, but there is so much in TCE. I'll give a bit of my experience below.
Seriously though, I get data updates from EDDN, which very many cmdrs contribute to, if they use EDDiscovery, EDMC, Inara.
My own market detail (updated from my visit to a station) appears within minutes.
I have auto update via TCE-Relay. A status message at left side of window, frequently advises me that my database is updating. I suggest you do the same in case you're not getting updates.
I set my search distance to 200 lt yrs, and include ALL within 150 lt yrs.
All works very well.
I usually only go to stations that have very high demand and updated prices less than 2 days, or some enterprising trader in a 708ton T9 fills the demand before I can get there (AKA me! 😁).
There are a lot of videos on setting up TCE in YouTube, and some are referenced in the first page of this post 👆.
I'm only a newbie with TCE (one week) but find it very helpful.

Version [1.9.4.7] released
Changelog:
  • Fixed an issue with the Trade Efficiency value not set on initial TCE-Relay setup.
  • Fixed an error that occurred when a note category was selected and no note was found in the Notes panel.
Notes:
Either download the version above, install and transfer your old database, or use the auto-update function of the launcher.
Click the 'new version' notice at the bottom of the launcher.

If you find an error, please report and use the Report a Bug button at the launcher and don't forget to copy the error details and ErrorReportFile.7z archive.

Hello,

thank you for your report. I guess I know what happened to you.
There will be a fix for it with the next update, it is just an edge case.

Hello,
i just installed this Program and run in a few issues.
the GamePath and NetLogPath don't use the full filepath. only 40 of 48 symbols. (see screenshot)
This causes the program to not detect the filepaths on next start.

Code:
<Path_Settings
      Database="F:\Programme\TCE\DB"
      GamePath="P:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Elite D"
      EDMCPath="C:\Program Files (x86)\EDMarketConnector\EDMC.exe"
      JournalPath="C:\Users\username\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous"
      NetLogPath="P:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Elite D\Logs"
      EDConfigPath="C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous"
      CartographyPicturePath="F:\Programme\TCE\CARTOGRAPHY\"
   >

EDIT:
I did a bit testing with the path lenght, and replaced SteamLibary with an single a. It still got only the path to the D.

Was working fine last week. This week I can't get either the relay or the launcher to load at all. Tried everything from repairing the redistributable to manually running the latest release's installer. I even added the executables for both to my exclusions list. Any ideas what might be the issue?

Did you use the auto-detection process or did you determine the path yourself by clicking on the line in the launcher for the game path?
Any special character in the game path? You can also edit the TCE.config file manually to set the proper path string if something got wrong.
Was working fine last week. This week I can't get either the relay or the launcher to load at all. Tried everything from repairing the redistributable to manually running the latest release's installer. I even added the executables for both to my exclusions list. Any ideas what might be the issue?
Seems to be a security related issue on your side. Please try to deactivate your AV for a test or give admin rights through the desktop shortcut.
Another way is to unblock the executables, if blocked by windows, see post https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elite-dangerous-market-connector-edmc.618708/post-10388460

i did both with the same result in config. if i set it in config, it removes the paths on next program start (strings are empty in config file).
There are no special character in the path besides : and \
I just moved ED to my drive C and reinstalled TCE on drive C with the same result. the gamepath and netlogpath don't get the full path.

Trying to run the executables as Admin was the very first trouble shooting step I took. And there isn't an option to unblock the executables in the properties window, last line displayed is the read-only or hidden options. I went ahead and selected the "Run this program as an administrator" option under the compatibility tab. When I try launching just the relay, I get the security pop up asking if I'm sure I want to run it but it doesn't actually launch. Same for the main executable except after giving permissions the compatibility troubleshooter launches instead.

Hmm, okay. TCE is checking on startup, if the path is correct, eg. finding the executable into the game path. If not, the path string is removed. I have a fix in pipe coming with the next update. Until release, you can edit the game and netlog path manually.

For example (from my TCE.config file):

GamePath="E:\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64"
NetLogPath="E:\Frontier\EDLaunch\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64\Logs"

without the executable, only the path. Replace the parts so they fit to your installation folder. Please check, if the executable of ED is present in the given folder.

Read error when try to use EDMC

EDMC can't read your journal file from the game, something is blocking access. Please try to start EDMC alone for a test.

Hmm... there isn't much I can do. If TCE was working last week and not this week, something changed on your side, because TCE hasn't changed.
I will release an update soon, please try again with the latest version.

Version [1.9.4.8] released
Changelog:
  • Optimized the detection of available processor cores.
  • Fixed an error when the Trade Range is outside the limits of TCE-Relay.
  • Fixed an error that occurs when updating the databases via TCE Relay and the "Only visited markets" option was selected but no markets yet existed in the database.
  • Fixed a display issue in the Extension tab of the launcher.
  • Fixed an issue when selecting the game path which could result in a truncated path in the TCE.config file.
  • Removed outdated code blocks for ED 32-bit version.

This one particularly is due to a bug in EDMC 5.12.0. A fix is in beta right now and will be out by end of week ideally.
